Anyone who's ordered to-go from Franky's recently has probably noticed the spaghetti is ridiculously dry, there's barely any sauce. But my last order, there wasn't ANY sauce at all! Just pasta with a little cheese and seasoning. I had ordered a pint of meat sauce on the side because of how little sauce there's been lately, but even adding that to the completely sauce-less pasta barely did anything. Excellent service and bread! Ordered the Chicken Parm. When it came, the plate was 80 percent angel hair pasta. Crammed in the 20 percent was a lot of melted cheese under which was a small piece of tough chicken. I was glad I had a steak knife to cut it! Despite the onions, peppers and mushrooms in the sauce, it really didn't have a lot of flavor! Very disappointing! read more

Usually fairly good, consistent, Italian food. Tonight though was outstanding, we had their halibut special, with lobster cream sauce and (delicious) mashed potatoes. Decent price too. read more

Been here twice but the second time was a disaster. The server took my real Oregon ID across the street to Riley's bar and had their manager storm our table to tell us it was fake. Dude was a clown. Then we had to sit outside there bar for 30+ minutes waiting for the cops to get my ID back. Been a lot of places with that ID since I'm 24, and never had such incompetent service. Being a bartender before too, I was just shook at the stupidity. As for the food the fettuccini had hard noodles with a bad Alfredo sauce, pizza was too saucy (would recommend like woodstocks for the pizza or anywhere else lol). The cherry on top my girlfriend said was the servers looked like they worked at hooters. That semi made me laugh cause I was pissed. Overall I wouldn't suggest this spot for anything. Be careful my Fellow out of staters that think of coming here, there is better food and service in the area. read more

Food was picked up and we arrived home with it still hot and tasty. Franky's never disappoints. Pasta was cooked perfectly, salad greens tasty and fresh. Nice to see a local restaurant that hasn't gone downhill like the majority of the places in town. read more

A Chico icon! Amazing scratch made salad dressings, fabulous calzones, pizzas, and salads. Their breaded zucchini sticks are outstanding and we can't go to Franky's without ordering two between my hubby and I because we can't possibly share a single order! One of the last local establishments that go the extra mile on everything from their table linens, customer service, and attention to consistency. Never had a bad meal at Franky's! read more

Came in for dinner and ordered 2 chicken parm. dinners. First red flag was they came with peppers onions and mushrooms?? on chicken parm? Ok, I am adventurous but can't do the mushrooms. Which are in the red sauce and the only option was to substitute Alfredo sauce. Ok. Bread and oil/balsamic and garlic was great. Salad was 1 type of green, shredded carrot, cheese and dressing. Tasted good. The chicken parms come and right away the portions were very small and looked to be premade breaded chicken patties. The Alfredo sauce was ok. 2 chicken parm dinners, 2 drinks with tax and tip was $91. The place was nice inside. Service was 11/10. Absolute rockstars. read more

Took my daughter to lunch today at Frankys. She ordered the grilled chicken alfresco and I ordered the grilled chicken fettuccine along with Cesar's salads and bowls of clam chowder . The grilled chicken on both dishes tasted rubbery . The fettuccine noodles were kind of mushy. The sauce the noodles were in was runny, more like a soup. The Alfredo was dry and bland. The clam chowder rated like an opened can of soup with some clams thrown in . The salad unfortunately was the best thing served . Lettuce was oops, crisp and fresh. I will give frankys another try ? Just because it could have been an off day for the chef. read more

Mediocre at best. Chicken Parm was good but the pasta that came with it was not. Flavorless meat sauce, overcooked and seemingly unsalted noodles. My partner got the chicken piccata. Found it to be alright but the sauce was lacking and loose. We got take out. Got home and the garlic bread was missing and the soup basically cold. Will probably not come back, considering the price does not match the quality. read more

So we Door Dashed this place tonight and it was great! I love calamari but it's hard to get it in this area and prepared right. It's usually tasteless and overcooked even in the best of restaurants. I was hesitant but ordered it here anyway. It was probably the best calamari I've ever had. Also usually with calamari, particularly an appetizer, it's all breading and little rings. This was mostly tender, flavorful little strips cut from a calamari steak. Light breading. It was so good! And the basil aioli with lemon exceeded any expectation I had. I grew up in the bat area eating at the Fish Market on a regular basis. Also many restaurants in SF. This calamari was legit. We also ordered salads. The house salad was simple but good. The homemade blue cheese was on point as well. Garlic bread was good. Glad we tried this place. You will be too! read more

We hadn't had Franky's in years, just based on convenience of location. I always loved them. We got the Family special for take out and it was FANTASTIC. The pizza was soooo good! Love the salad and they make the GOOD RANCH. I'm not a spaghetti person ever, but my family loved it and I didn't have to fix dinner for a second day! Huge win, awesome food, amazing value. Pizza here is amazing. You can get it inside the restaurant or outside late night at the window if you need a snack around 2pm. The service here is great. Everyone is always friendly and in a good mood. My favorite appetizers are the calamari and the prawn cocktail. Both are great choices. They also have some great lasagna, spaghetti, linguini with clams, mannicoti, and ravioli dishes for main courses. The salads are bomb. Some of the best caesar dressing in town!!! Sometimes I even just come here to pick up a large tub of salad dressing for home. wine list is good and the drinks are poured nice and strong. This is a great place to have a birthday party or a large group of friends. They can accommodate for large crowds. read more

Love Franky's! Great 2 for 1 happy hour from 5-6 pm. Reservation is a good idea on weekends. Not the best place for big groups but 4-6 is very doable. The salads are fresh and the food is good. The wait staff is the best! read more

My friends and I had sat at the bar as the host told us we were allowed to even if you are under 21 years old . 1/4 of us were 21 years old and we had Brandon "take care of us". I quote that because he really didn't . He was super rude and didn't care to greet us with a hello or good evening, he went to straight to "I need to see your IDs" , totally valid became I am a server at another Italian restaurant as well. So I definitely know what he was thinking when he saw us, "young girls who won't tip" and it definitely showed with him because he didn't care to check on us and was just not friendly. Two Middle Aged gentleman sat next to us and Brandon greeted them full of joy , wonder why? Food was mid . Brandon as well made a side comment when I asked for the fishbowl menu just because I was the only one 21 . As if he's my supervisor or something lol. I didn't even enjoy my drink but of course he didn't care to ask bc he could careless about a group of girls. Haven't been to Franky's since my husband passed over 4 years ago, it was one of our faves. Tonight my friend and I had drinks and appetizers, the food was really good. Wait staff was quick and responsive. My only complaint, I consider Franky's a nice restaurant but why do some of the girls wear short shorts where their butt cheeks aaaalmost hang out. While Franky's has amazing food and delicious drinks and I will continue to support them, but I have to call them out. Last night while waiting in line for Fish bowls I witnessed several of their bouncers get payed to let in at least 40 to 50 people thus cutting the line. The line was already wrapped around the parking lot however by letting in these people the bar was already almost full. I was second in line and had been waiting there for an hour just so me and my friends could get a table, which we almost didn't by the time we were let in. I understand that the Franky staff is very friendly and will sometimes make exceptions for friends but this was far too much. One member of staff was furious and he made it known I would like to support his claim as this was unacceptable behavior by frankys. I'm not mad just disappointed. read more

Hi. We were met with the server named aiden and another hostess on April 8th. Night shift. I have worked in the restaurant business and retail service and I have never experienced an interaction like this. The hostess status down we were waiting for 10 minutes after we were waving and got somebody's attention they told us oh it's actually a bar at this point after 9 PM. After we were sat down at 9 PM we were like oh wow that's weird we were sat down and waited for this amount of time. We were met with such attitude the person named aiden told us oh I figured you guys knew this was a bar that's weird. You did not know this is a bar it is advertised as a bar after nine. I said I did not know that. Why was I not taught in him and his hostess girl with dark hair said little jokes about it and were mocking us as we left the restaurant. I have been going to Frankies for three years with my aunt and sister. And I brought my aunt this night and I was so embarrassed. read more

Frankys is known for their Thursday night fishbowls and as a college student who loves a cheap but strong drink I had to indulge. With excessive drinking comes excessive hunger. To my pleasant surprise they were serving pizza at the bar ! I ordered 2 slices of pepperoni and patiently waited. The time came when my 2 slices of heaven arrived and I smiled bigger than when the grinch stole Christmas. What's a better duo than pb & j you may wonder ? Pizza and ranch. I walked to the outside stand and was greeted by a fella with 2 ranches in his hand. I asked if I could have some and he handed me a singular ranch cup. Franky's is another good pizza restaurant in Chico. I never actually ate inside. Being a broke college student. All you can afford are 1/4 slices of pizza lol When I used to live in the dorms, my friend and I used to come here on Friday or Saturday nights after leaving Frat parties. They used to be open up until 2am on weekends. Not the whole restaurant. Only a double window which is located on the side of the parking lot was open late. Sold by the slice. Drunk, high and hungry college student would get in line to get either cheese or pepperoni pizza. Slices used to be $2.50 for cheese and & $3 for pepperoni. Went back tonight and happened to have Kristian as our waiter again! He remembered us and provided excellent service our second time around as well. We arrived before happy hour ended and he was helpful to point this out quickly. He asked if we knew the special for the night and we had not read the sign with it posted. I took his recommendation and ordered it; pesto panko breaded jumbo prawns with garlic mashed potatoes and a lobster cream sauce, with asparagus and a side of clam chowder (of course). It was delicious! I even enjoyed the asparagus which I never choose to eat willingly. My fiancé ordered the lasagna and said it was rich but very good. He also ordered a Cesar side salad which, for me, was a little heavier on the dressing than I care for but was overall yummy. Another great experience and will continue to recommend Franky's! The seating and bar were full so we were told it could be about a 25 minute wait but it only took 10-15 minutes. read more

Heard an ad on the radio and decided to try Franky's cause I've lived in Chico my whole life and still hadnt been there. I'm a little old school and I prefer to call in my order, so I tried that several times over about half hour to 45 mins and it was busy every time. Finally gave up and placed my order online. After I placed my order I realized I had been charged a $1.00 "convenience fee" (annoying and exactly why I hate ordering online but whatever...) I arrive to pick up my order after 30 minutes because it says to allow 20 mins for your order, or 30 in case they're really busy. I show up and there's only one table seated and a few girls at the take out window. I ask the host inside for my order and it's obvious they don't have it.. I tell him my name, guy goes back to check, comes out, asks if I'm sure it's the right name, goes back, comes back like 5 or 10 mins later to to tell me they have the order and the pizza has Iike 8 minutes left to cook because of "issues with their oven". I also happened to mention the phone being busy non-stop, to which they reply they have two phone numbers and they don't work sometimes (and then they charge the CUSTOMER a convenience fee for ordering online yay) Pretty obvious they lost or missed my order. Didn't appreciate being lied to about it and not apologized to for the wait. It was literally a complete waste of my time (and dollar lol) to order online because I had to wait at the restaurant the whole time it was being prepared anyway. Pizza was decent and the guy who handled getting me my order was friendly, so there's that. I guess I would just suggest eating at the restaurant and don't bother trying to call or order online. You won't get through. read more

So this is hard to write but I am doing so in hopes that the owners take note. I have long been a customer of Franky's and have always enjoyed the quality food. Last night I noticed a real difference which began with them no longer offering bread automatically (had to ask and got a "we no longer do that automatically answer"). Then the meal, at $21, was re-heated, not freshly prepared, chicken fettuccine, dry with no sauce (because it was re-heated) and yellow in color (pre-cooked). In this COVID era, if you want people to support your business, be sure that you retain quality food offerings. read more

Absolutely wonderful food and service. Athena is an angel and helped my 11-year-old decide what to get. I really dislike meatballs, and totally would have been happy with his meatball sandwich.
