My excellent t-shirt from Almendra!!! Love this shirt, always gets comments... BBBUUUTTTT, the whiskey ROCKS!!!

While researching stops on our last adventure, I found Almendra on Yelp as a distillery... I checked the website and saw the "Monkey Face Bourbon" long sleeve t-shirt- of course I HAD to have one!!!! We walked in, was greeted by the staff, sat down, ordered a whiskey flight followed by a cocktail and a tray of cheese and crackers with olives and grapes. Our server was efficient and witty!!! When back in the Durham area, we will definitely stop again!!!

Dinner Covid Saturday night April 2021: We had made reservations for 4 and had expected to have some descent seating for dinner which turned out to be a disappointment as we were forced to either sit outside in the full sun (they had no sun shades or covers) on wooden picnic tables or small tables not big enough for food and drinks for 4. The House Salad was ok. $6.75 The Midway Pizza was excellent. $18.95 The Aloha Pizza was very good as well. $18.75 The Bacon Wrapped Prawns were very good. $15.95 The Roasted Brussels Sprouts were ok. None of us were that impressed with this small plate. $14.95 The Bertagna Petite Sirah (tasted by 2 of us) was just so so. $8.50 The Bertagna Sangiovese came with what looked like a lot of residue floating on top and after drinking it all that residue was now at the bottom of the glass. Some of us thought it looked like soap however it didn't taste like soap. I'm a big fan and drink quite a bit of Sangiovese and this was not one I woukd ever order again. $8.50 Two of us had cocktails and they reviewed them as "pretty good" however not awesome. We're happy Almendra appears to be successful and we received excellent service from our server Sue A.

We had our staff holiday party here on Wednesday evening. It was booked ahead of time and the restaurant/winery totally made it work for us- giving us the "side" of the restaurant for our get together. We pre-ordered pizzas, a charcuterie plate, and a big salad which was just the right amount for our group. We ordered our drinks separately and paid for them at the bar. I had a Moscow mule and a lemon drop, both of which were tasty and didn't seem weak. The bartenders were friendly and well-paced. I'd love to come back for wine tasting or one of the events they hold. Also for the adorable jewelry I saw when I walked in and then forgot about. I'll be back!

    menu for kids's menu

New menu stinks, especially for a large family with kids. We planned our whole Saturday around an overdue visit to Almendra, which has been our go to spot for delicious food. After looking at the new menu we realized it was going to be a "no go" and decided to relocate to another restaurant. Kids were bummed there was no longer a pizza option, and kids menu was overpriced and not very kid friendly. Although we loved Almendra and it's food/atmosphere, we probably won't be back.

Servers were amazing! Food is surprisingly delicious! Everything we ordered was sooo flavorful & seasoned perfectly! The meatball appetizer & pizza is a must! I highly recommend!

Started off slow. But the Drinks made up for it. Great Smokey Old Fashion. My GF had a Chunky Monkey. They were great. The sausage and sauce kraut is really good too along with the Caprese Salad was delicious. Defginately a place to come back too.

Upon arrival we were offered a sample of their sangria which is made fresh every Saturday morning, which was so good and fresh tasting. (Spoiler alert, I left with a bottle). The service there was excellent, the gentleman that helped us was incredibly professional. Their entire facility is very cute, lots of spaces to lounge, including an upstairs which was a little warm until the A/C kicked on. A fan upstairs in the height of summer would've really elevated the space. The views from the second floor were incredible, very picturesque, along with the view from their stairwell. I'm excited to revisit in the fall time when it's not so hot outside. They had a lot of cute, fun, card games, puzzles, and other things to do. Lots of cozy nooks to sit in, couches, bar tops, lounger chairs, etc. which truly felt like the inviting space I have created in my own home. I am writing this review as I sit on my couch and enjoy a chilled glass of sangria and I encourage you to visit Odyssey at the very least, for their sangria. I will be back in the fall!

The service isn't too notch like some of the other wineries in the area (don't say hi when you walk in, you kind of have to wonder to figure out where to go/find someone to speak with). This is a very large property so you can sit in multiple places inside (upstairs and downstairs) and then outside in a few areas as well. We didn't try any of their foods but they did mention they have cheese and meats from local and non-local farms - I think Santa Rosa area? Overall it was nice but I wish the service was a little bit better and more welcoming.

It has a romantic vibe for wedding or special event! This winery is located off Ward Road in Oroville. It's close to town yet you feel you are in the Country! I think they have about 26 acres with a pond and make some delicious wines...including cabs...pinots..and sangiovose. They have a tasting room that is welcoming along with a larger area for events. They also sell some swag. I bought the Cabernet Sauvignon and the owner was so kind he gave me some delicious mandarins they grow on the property ! So juicy! I love the bridge and the cozy feel to the place. Family run! Although they don't have food or a wine club at this moment it is a great place to have a picnic with some exceptional places to enjoy the scenery! It was a Great experience with good wines and family atmosphere ( love the cute dogs!). Husband and wife owners and their family are kind and welcoming! Don't miss out on this place ( check their hours first). Bring a picnic basket and buy some of their wines and relax!

I have to say the 1-star review here is uncalled for. My tasting fee was waived with a purchase of one bottle of wine. Though I would have been happy to pay it. It is only $5, and this a small, local business. The tasting included at least 7 wines. Toby, one of the owners, poured for us. He was very welcoming and knowledgable about the area. I loved the small, local feel. They also sold local almonds, eggs and beef.

They have many varietals and the quality is top notch for all, plus priced exceptionally well. A tasting is a remarkably inexpensive $10, comped if you buy a bottle. It's well worth the price. The property is owned and operated by a group of Trappist Cistercian monks. There's a lot of information to read about them and the history on placards on the property. The property is fascinating in itself and they also have a centuries old portion of a abbey from Spain reconstructed on the property. It was purchased by William Randolph Hearst and the stone blocks stored in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco for decades. They were donated to the monks here with the understanding it be recreated on the site. It has been, and magnificent. The wine tasting is very informative and the knowledgeable staff will walk through each selection. This may be a bit far afield but well worth the trip.

This one I've been wanting for visit for many years due to its ties to Sierra Nevada Brewing nearby and also the story of the abbey stores from Europe. Mix that with the original owners of the areas, murder, and ghost stories in Hawaii, it makes for a fascinating visit! I'll spare the long history to be enjoyed on your visit. This entire region is fruit orchards and beautiful fields. New Clairvaux sits as part of a vineyard that was much larger long ago. The current vineyard is easy to get to with clearly marked signs and plenty of parking. Inside the barn you'll find the wine shop and gift shops, which you can also do tours and tastings. It's also an event space. The monastery is nearby down a shaded path, but visiting is restricted. The church is also nearby, which incorporates stones from an ancient abbey in Europe that themselves took an amazing and long journey to and up here. The gardens and vines are worth walking through, it's a beautiful area. We all decided to do the basic tasting tour where they share the history and stories while you taste. If you're a wine or history buff, this one is worth visiting.
