The Arbour is a beautiful restaurant with outstanding food. I came with a party of 4, one of whom has severe allergies, of which they were very accommodating. The 3 of us without allergies ordered many different things and sampled each other's plates--there was not a bad bite to be found among them. I was particularly impressed with the California Caesar salad. I am not usually a Caesar person but the flavors were amazing and even the croutons/cheese were clearly top notch. I had the sea bass as my entree and the fish was cooked to perfection, but I surprisingly loved the vegetables on the side even more because they were perfectly cooked and seasoned! If you go, don't skip the bread pudding--it's the best I've had in a while, and the caramel sauce is delicious. read more

Needless to say, we were highly disappointed. Lighting was just right and the decor was outstanding. We were greeted warmly when we entered the restaurant. Hostess was polite and very friendly. Bill came to almost $300 for 4 people, with one person ordering a single cocktail. Would have ordered more, but lack of service. One person ordered a Caesar Salad and another one wanted one split. When they were delivered both were split. Food orders came out and we never saw our waiter again until he came by asking if we wanted boxes, 30 minutes later. We asked a few workers for more water and bread and while each said I will be right back, none ever came. Lobster Risotto (shown) was very very salty and a HUGE portion for risotto. My son ordered the Duck and it wasn't good at all. We were disappointed in both dishes. The food I can give a pass to, but service is where I draw the line. Granted we are tourist and we will never be regulars, but we frequent Pasadena and I will cross this place off the list. $300 and awful service, there is no excuse for that at a high rated restaurant like this. read more

Hmm not sure if I went on an off day or what but this made me think of my experiences at Las Vegas strip restaurants: lots of money for a mediocre overall experience. The ambiance of the restaurant is quite nice as you'll see from the photos so we came here for a special occasion. Half our table actually liked their food, half were underwhelmed. The food came out to us lukewarm or room temp (and my green beans were cold). We were told we couldn't order the appetizers first and then order our dishes later because the chef likes to be able to time the dishes, yet it still came out that temperature? Their $17 Caesar salad was nothing special. I did enjoy the $15 cranberry old fashioned. Maybe it's because the restaurant was absolutely packed the night we went but we were left wanting. Service was average, did not get checked on and got water refill maybe once or twice. Not sure I would come back. The decor and ambiance are very elegant, and the waitstaff was polite and percipient. I started with a pineapple mezcal margarita, and my spouse ordered a Prosecco sparkling wine. The margarita was unique and delicious! For salads, we ordered the California Caesar and the kale salad with warm goat cheese. Although both were good, the kale salad was exquisite! For entrées, we ordered the seared yellowfin tuna and the roasted salmon. While both were enjoyed, the seared tuna stood out with its tasty soy hollandaise sauce. Perfectly cooked, melt-in-your-mouth, seasoned like the chef has a direct line to Poseidon himself. My husband ordered the salmon, and because marriage is about sharing, I stole a bite. Immaculate. Moist, flaky, and kissed with just enough flavor to make your eyes cross ever so slightly. And then... the honey old fashioned. I swear, if Willy Wonka ever decided to go into mixology instead of chocolate, this is what he'd create. Smooth, balanced, and just sweet enough to make you grin after every sip. I'm in Pasadena all the time and I never noticed this restaurant especially because I get boba across the street all the time! What a hidden and boujee gem! I came here with a reservation with a large group of folks from work. We were seated inside a private room at the back and that was honestly a very nice touch to our dinner experience. It feels expensive in this restaurant and that's because it was! lol The servers were incredibly kind and helpful from the get go. We were missing a few chairs and plates and cups and they quickly resolved that issue. They brought out water immediately as well! For appetizers, we got: - potato croquettes 5/5! everything you want in a baked potato in simple bites - spicy beef chili: 1/5 doesn't really seem like a dish fitting for the vibe imo. bread was lackluster. beef chili had that touch of spice to it but tasted a lil burnt? it was nothing special - ca cesar salad: 5/5 refreshing, perfectly balanced ingredients, LOVE the croutons in it - cherry salad: 3/5 good but I wasn't necessarily going back to that plate for more - roasted asparagus: 5/5 BOMB perfectly cooked asparagus and loved the crunchy and cheesy parts of this dish - burrata cheese: 5/5 loved the tomatoes in this dish!! I was disappointed they didn't have a larger non alcoholic drink menu so I settled for an arnold palmer but it had a weird taste to it and I couldn't tell if it was the tea or the lemonade lol For my main dish, I got the duo of duck because I was like when else do I find duck dishes at restaurants I normally eat at! I ate the roasted breast parts first and that alone was SO GOOD. The flavor was flavoring and I LOVED the crunchy skin on it. The spinach was a nice way to balance out all that meat too. I was unfortunately too full to get to the confit leg at this point so I took it home for leftovers! For dessert, I got the chocolate mousse and it came in a cup looking like hot chocolate. Loved the chocolate topping on top with the crunchy bits underneath but it was a little too much mousse for me by the end of the night so I couldn't finish that either. If you're looking for a fine dining experience with amazing food The Arbour is for you. For starters I had oysters and the potato croquettes. The oysters were very fresh and I thoroughly enjoyed them. The potato croquettes have a crunchy exterior and a fluffy texture on the inside. The croquettes come with a generous serving of bacon on top. For my main I had the Duo of Duck. Definitely the best duck I've ever had. The highlight of the dish was definitely the roasted breast. The veggies that came with it all paired nicely. Customer service was excellent. I went with a large party so we had a reservation for the room towards the back. Their boyfriend booked a reservation to dine in earlier that week and had a nice dinner the day of :) So, I was dressed a bit more casually than my bf since I was wearing a t shirt and leggings. Most of the patrons were in business casual, that didn't stop the staff from being so nice to us. Service was amazing. This is my favorite restaurant. Ive been here three times now and can attest that not only is the service kind and attentive but the food is fantastic and consistent. The Arbor rivals the top restaurants in Pasadena and Los Angeles. The restaurant has a low key but classy vibe. Date night or a single girl having dinner feels equally elevated. You can wear jeans or a dress but I'd consider dressing "polished." Take note that this place is pleasantly packed by 7pm. Make a reservation because the word is out and the I ran into a wait that was an hour for just walking up. I love the bucatini. LOVE IT. It's a cold dinner dish and super plentiful; it's a bowl for two meals. Soooo creamy and flavorful. The salmon is also a solid pick; was well cooked and buttery. I've been wanting to try this place for a while. New to the neighborhood (moved here from DTLA) so I've been missing pasta from Bestia. Saw good reviews of Arbour and seems like a farm to table concept which is my favorite. We made Saturday night reservations and the hostess walked us to our table right away. The establishment was classic yet still lively and casual enough to not feel very stuffy. Our server Lorna (I hope I spelled her name right) was very welcoming and friendly. She recommended the crab pasta special and wow it did not disappoint! Looked so simple but literally tasted like ocean. My husband got the shrimp pasta which was also amazing! I kept eating off his plate. There were a lot big chunks of shrimp and the creamy sauce was so rich and flavorful without overpowering. Lorna also said the portions are pretty big and she did not lie! We were both stuffed and packed the leftover to go. We also got the Brussels sprouts salad which was refreshing. For drinks I got the limoncello spritz drink and it was also delicious. Overall we loved everything from the food & drink to the service we received. We will definitely be back! read more

My first time enjoying a girl's night out and having dinner at the Arbour in Pasadena. This cute place is ideal and quite busy filled with a ton of people enjoying the company and the food here. They have a ton of variety drinks to choose from and also a wide variety of menu items. I liked how they split everything for us into two so we could enjoy our food and not have to do it ourselves. The server was super nice and she has it down even with a ton of tables. This place was super packed on a Friday night. But I still enjoyed our dinner. We ordered a salad, fish, and a hamburger plus dessert. Overall I feel like the portion size is large because even though it was divided into two we barely were able to finish our meal. We were seated at a beautiful window seat for great people watching on Lake Ave. We started with the appetizer special of fresh crab salad on toast which was recommended by our server. It was dressed perfectly. I ordered the black pepper crusted chicken with green beans, fingerling potatoes served with an onion cream. Everyone kept stealing bites of it! My son got the duo of duck and the caprese salad, and was so pleased with both. His girlfriend got the salmon which was served with a delicious succotash and spicy chili foam. My boyfriend ordered the fusilli pasta with fresh pesto and pine nuts, it was huge and my son was thrilled to get to take the left overs to go. We finished off with a slice of cheesecake which had a lovely cherry compote and a bonus coconut macaroon (not the French kind) the yummy all coconut one. This review is about my customer service experience...I hope that the higher ups are reading this...I called the other day to find out about the happy hour because we were a block away...Does the management not train the person answering to be kind and courteous? I asked when the happy hour ended, they said 530. We could have been in the door within 2 minutes. I asked how strict they were (I was with someone in their 80s who can't move fast and can't fall in a dark parking lot). They said absolutely it ends by 530. I get it - you have your policy (although who ends a happy hour with such a short window of 90 min? I get it, you want people to come in and end up ordering a meal instead). The person answering the phone was not inviting and kinda rude....maybe they should say: "I'm so sorry, we are strict on timing, but we would love to have you come in anyway and we have some great things on the menu and the bar looks good at this moment for a seating (or some other nicety). We hope you'll join us for a drink anyhow..." Or any other nice thing! I used to come here a lot then fell out so was trying to come again on a regular basis... Now here is a contrast: We ate at Granville recently. Our beef stroganoff only had little pieces of beef - very little beef. Probably just a fluke because we love this place and its such a great spot. We told them at the end of the meal...they asked, how can we make it right? I said, can you just give us a few pieces of beef to add into it? The server said, no, why don't we get you a whole new one. I said, no, actually just a little beef. And she said, Id like you to have the full experience. So we said yes...when the bill came, they took it off the bill, and gave us a new one to take home....Funny, I would have been happy if they had just added a bit more meat...I didn't want a free dish, or even a free meal...that is why I'll be going back to Granville. Tried The Arbour for the first time and absolutely loved it! If you're looking for a nice restaurant with delicious food, this place is for you. Reservations can be booked online for a smooth no wait experience. Tables are lined with table cloths and nice silverware. The waiters and waitresses are super nice and know the menu well. I got the rigatoni pasta and it was pretty spicy. The burrata cheese is a delightful appetizer with the free bread that comes to the table. For drinks, the bartender whipped up a refreshing mocktail. For parking, you have to park on the street so it can be crowded on a weekend night. I would definitely recommend this place to other people. read more

Beautiful interior as soon as you walk in with ambient lighting. We were seated right by the fire place, that had a great spot light if you like to take pictures of your food. We ordered a bunch of appetizers, two entree and one dessert. Appetizer: Potatoe Croquette - super crispy in the outside and soft in the inside. The bottom base is lightly covered with cream fraiche which is always a great pair. Bacon topping is super crispy! Cantaloupe salad - I love cantaloupe and it is tossed with prosciutto, pairing perfectly. They do not hold back with the cantaloupe and prosciutto slices. Corn agnolotti - I really enjoyed the brown butter foam with the agnolotti stuffed with ricotta cheese. Corn is always welcome. I recommend this! Entree: Mediterranean Seabass with polenta cake - perfectly grilled sea bass, the skin was crispy. Be careful with bones if you're not used to eating fish. The polenta cake pairs well with the fatty sea bass Lobster risotto - super creamy with the aroma of the lobster saturating your mouth. The lobster tail is cut in half, easily pulling it out of the shell. It was cooked perfectly Dessert- our original waitress had to leave so I couldn't catch her name, but Julie took over and was super friendly. She recommended the bread pudding so we ordered that. It was soft and fully in the inside, lightly crispy on the outside. Comes with vanilla ice cream and caramel drizzle. It was a great pallet cleanser to sweets. I'll come back to try other things! We came here for Father's Day dinner -- a party of 6 adults -- and were crammed into a booth clearly not meant for that many people. On a hot day in Pasadena, it felt cramped & uncomfortable. The cocktails were genuinely great and our server was lovely, but the food was a real letdown. The pasta portions were huge & came in what looked like dog bowls, which didn't exactly add to the dining experience. The shrimp pasta was made with frozen shrimp and completely overcooked. The pesto linguine was also a flop -- the pasta was drowning in a bland, flavorless pesto that didn't taste fresh at all. To top it off, the dessert tasted like refrigerator -- clearly not made fresh, just something pulled from the back and plated. For the price point, this was a seriously disappointing meal. i've been coming to this place for years - it never disappoints. it's a beautiful restaurant and the food is great. today i tried the filet mignon with gai lan that i hadn't seen before (i know they update their menu from time to time) and WOW it was delicious! the filet mignon was super tender, the potato's (placed under the steak) were super flavorful and the gai lan was cooked perfectly. for me i don't think the big slab of herb butter on top was needed because the sauce it all sits in is flavorful enough, but just my preference. overall, always a five star experience. definitely recommend for a date night, family dinner if you're feeling boujie, or a solo dinner night! staff is friendly too. read more

The Arbor is a great dinner spot. Whether you're looking for a date spot, celebrating life, or just a night out. In my opinion, this restaurant is underrated. It doesn't get the amount of credit it deserves in terms of quality of food, service and ambiance. As you walk inside, they have a small indoor garden, creating a relaxing and cozy atmosphere. The restaurant is nicely decorated. In my opinion, The Arbor should have the same amount of ratings compared to Luggage room, Alexander's and Granville. The level of service and food quality is certainly on par. The ingredients used for their dishes are very fresh and well put together. Here's a walkthrough of our meal. Complimentary bread. Normally, I pass on the bread because it's a filler. However, the dinner roll at The Arbor is perfect; it's crispy on the outside and soft on the inside similar to a baguette but not as hard or chewy. The butter and salt that accompanies the bread is so good. It's soft, creamy, tasty and the sea salt brings out the flavor. We got the tagliatelle and Brussels sprouts salad to start off. I wish the tagliatelle was a full entree offered because it's that good. It's juicy porky flavor with fennel accompanied by fresh fat pasta. The Brussels salad is lightly dressed. The creamy texture of the goat cheese pairs well with the greens. For the main course, we had the duo of duck and shrimp penne. The duck was not gamey. It was tender and juicy with a crispy skin. The second part of the duo was a crispy tasty fried duck. The dish was served with a side of really delicious radish with buttery mashed potatoes and spinach. The shrimp penne is surprisingly good. There's large chunks of deveined and deshelled shrimp drenched in a buttery Alfredo sauce and pasta. To finish it all off, I ordered the semifreddo. Unfortunately, this was not a creamy, soft textured semi-frozen mousse that I was expecting. Taste-wise the guava purée pairs well the almond. However, this was not a dessert I would order again. So why the five stars and not four? Despite the dessert, our server was so sweet. She noticed that I didn't really touch the dessert or wanted it to go. Rather than just brushing it off, she offered another option to go and asked what could be improved. She took off the dessert from our bill after listening to why I didn't enjoy it. That was the highlight of my night, that she cared. Overall the dinner service was great and attentive. But this definitely made me feel like a valued customer and I look forward to my next date night back here. For parking, street parking is your best bet.
