I had a phenomenal experience at the Arbour. I was there for a business dinner where we had a large group of about 20 people. While the food and drinks were great, especially the steak, what really made the night amazing was the service that we received. Thomas was top-notch, probably the best server I've ever had. I'm writing this review as I'm finishing my meal--that's how good this place is! A colleague flaked on me for happy hour here, so this place has been on my list for a while. This place does everything right. I came at around 4:45 with my partner; we were worried we wouldn't be able to make it, but the staff kindly found an extra chair to squeeze us both at the bar. The bartenders were attentive and efficient, and everything we ordered arrived quickly. Shout out to Zach for constantly checking in on us. The hibiscus margarita was delicious yet quickly creeps up...dangerous and delicious drink. My partner ordered the gold rush, and I'm not a bourbon person but liked his drink a lot! We also ordered the shepherd's pie and potato croquette (like an upscale baked potato). The star of the night for us was the rigatoni alla vodka; that sauce is to die for. Even for a midweek dinner service, the place seemed to have plenty of tables reserved and a steady flow of orders coming out from the kitchen. Happy hour grub we tried: The croquettes were delicious - nicely paired with crispy bacon and cheese. You get 5 in an order for happy hour. Not bad value. The garlic fries were crispy and quite garlicky, more than I'm used to, but not to an unpleasant degree. It's a moderately sized portion, maybe comparable to a mcdonalds medium fries. Comes with ketchup. $6. Nice. The Arbour burger was fairly large and we were happy to split it between the two of us. It was a decent burger with a hearty amount of tomato, onion, and lettuce, and for $11 in this part of town, it was a good value as well. Drinks-wise, $9 cocktails is a great deal during happy hour. We tried the rum punch and it was sweet but not overpowering - you could definitely taste some of the rum, and the lime garnish was a nice touch of sour. What an absolute "Gem" of a restaurant! Nestled on Lake avenue in Pasadena, this restaurant provided a delicious dining experience for our party of 5 on a Tuesday evening. We had a 6:15pm reservation and were promptly seated. The restaurant has plenty of seating options for small and larger groups. They have table seating as well as booths that can accommodate different types of groups. The staff were wonderful and attentive. We probably had at least three different servers come check on us, in addition to our main server "Cessily" who was really friendly and informative. The food was equally amazing. Our group ordered a variety of dishes and shared two side dishes. For me, I ordered the Bucatini pasta which had an amazing vodka sauce and ground pancetta. The portion was HUGE and price was great at $29. Others in our party had the night's special which was gnocchi dish, the seared yellow tail, and roasted salmon. We shared two appetizers: spicy beef chili toast and cauliflower carbonara. Both were delicious and well prepared. Fantastic meal, great ambiance, and excellent service. For appetizers, we ordered the Caesar salad and Brussels sprouts with white wine. Both were mouth watering. I expected an apology, but instead the server came back and said it was cooked but since I wanted it cooked more they would put it in the oven. I expected more from this restaurant. Classier establishments would remake the dish and comp it. They would not make the guest feel bad and insist the fish was cooked properly when it was clearly raw inside. The staff were pleasant and friendly. To top if off, the food was excellent. The flavors were delicately seasoned to a delicious dining experience. As much as a shrimp penne pasta has a strong cheese flavor this dish took it just beyond and had something extra. The Caesar salad was nicely garnished with Parmesan shavings and a nice dressing. There's a free parking lot behind the restaurant on S. Hudson Avenue. Easy to miss but it's immediately after the pavilions lot, before the Ann Taylor lot. This restaurant is very elegant and classy. I got the bucatini spaghetti with vodka sauce and to be honest the dish did not meet my expectations (especially considering the fact that it was $30). Number one thing for me with a pasta dish is the pasta has to be cooked al dente. This pasta was not. It was too soft. What a bummer! The sauce hit the mark as well. There was not enough balance of flavor. I could taste the acidity and tartness from the tomato, and that's about it. Not flavorful enough for me. The only thing I liked about it was the generous portion size. I had a bite of the sea bass though, and that was very flavorful. Service was good, the servers were attentive and gave us a spiel about the restaurant since many of us had never been there before. The Arbour in Pasadena is an epicurean dream. I dined here with my Wife for my pre-birthday on June 14, 2024. We both had the Filet Mignon, medium well; and, it was divine. I always order Filet Mignon if the restaurant serves it, but this restaurant has a one up on other steakhouses, likely because of the it is prepared. It came with mashed potatoes because you can exchange your side dish for anything you like: and, I liked that. I also opted for the asparagus which was nothing short of delicious. I ordered two Gin Martinis filthy with three olives and they were great, but not like Drake, they were not the best I ever had. My Wife's White wine was divine, though (probably because I picked it out). Wow, too bad I just have no confidence at all (; jk jk. It was well worth the approximately $400 bill. Well worth it. It's been several years since my last review, but honestly, it felt irresponsible not to pop back in and reemphasize just how fantastic this place is. Consider this both a love letter and a short guide for newcomers. First: The tartare is back. And yes, it's every bit as amazing as before. Some nights it's bison, some nights it's steak. But either way, it arrives with these little warm, decadent puffs of bread instead of the usual toast. I don't know who decided this was the correct move, but they deserve a medal. Second: The specials. When they say "special," they actually mean it. As in, tonight only, don't assume you'll ever see this again. If something sounds interesting, order it. Recent standouts (which may or may not ever reappear): a picanha steak for two (the entire cap!!), a blue crab salad, white truffle ravioli, and a tomahawk pork chop. The exact dish will change, but the rule does not: the special is always amazing. And finally: The desserts. The chef's original training was in pastry/desserts, and it shows. These desserts may have simple, almost understated names, but do not be fooled. There is nothing standard happening here. This is where the creativity really shines. Do yourself a favor and save room. You'll regret it if you don't. It's also worth mentioning the value. For the level of execution, ingredient quality, and thought that goes into every plate, the pricing feels almost unfair - in a good way. This is one of those rare places where you leave thinking, How was that meal not more expensive? read more

I've taken family and friends there several times since then, and have been noticing a decline in food quality and service. Yesterday's dinner was it for me. For what this place costs, I expect much better. A restaurant being busy is no excuse for lower quality food or lack of service, especially for a higher end restaurant like this one. Some servers are more attentive than others. We got there at the same time another couple got there. They were having dessert before our entrees even arrived! We weren't in a rush so we didn't mind the slower pace this time around. Our salad was underwhelming and was missing a main ingredient, which after we pointed it out, was brought on the side. We didn't ask for it, but our server was kind to being us another round on the house, and it was very obvious that it was much better prepared and as it should've been prepared from the beginning. When we got the bill, we were charged for that second round (??!!), but our server removed it after we asked. Good thing we checked!! The entrees were barely warm. I always get the seabass, and the piece I got this time was not good. The mushroom risotto, which I always get for the table to share, was too heavy and garlicky. And to top it all off, we had some leftovers to take. The person who packed it for us had his fingers all over the insides of the containers, and then went to clean tables. I got the spicy marg and he got the raspberry sour, both strong and delicious! We then got a sausage pasta appetizer and honestly we could've ordered 3 of those and been satisfied with our meal. They were so sweet to split the dish into 2 separate plates for us. For our entrees we got the chicken and new york steak. We visited the opera for the first time yesterday night for a birthday celebration dinner and we were not disappointed. The appetizers were my favorite part of the meal, especially the crab cake! I would come back just to have this again. We also tried the potato croquet, and they were good as well. For the entrées, we decided to share the seared yellowfin, the duck duo, and the risotto. I'm not a big fan of duck to begin with, so that was my least favorite entrée, but I did love the seared yellowfin tuna and the wild mushroom risotto. Both were flavored very well And the combined taste was delightful. We did not have any room left for dessert, but I will definitely come back to try some of their dessert menu items as well. Parking can be tough during dinner time, but there's also a parking lot in the back as well which is where I parked. Holy Moly. This is hands-down the best restaurant in Pasadena, as far as I'm concerned. Everything is perfect from the greeting at the door until the end of the night. I went here with my wife for our anniversary, and every course was an absolute delight. My wife started with the fried dates and I had the croquettes. The dates were tasty, but I'll be thinking about those croquettes until the day I die. Perfect texture, incredible flavor balance, and not a single ingredient wasted. We both felt like fish for the main entree, so my wife ordered the sea bass and I got the yellowfin. The sea bass was flaky, delicious, flavorful, and the bok choy was an incredible accompaniment. And yet despite this, the yellowfin was even better- one of the top five dishes I've ever had in my life. It was perfectly seared, balancing the flavor between the exterior and the interior of the fish. The risotto, asparagus, and sauce were in ideal proportions and plated gorgeously. Perfect is the word I keep coming back to, but it's apt. The panna cotta and aperitif we enjoyed were terrific as well, but I was still thinking about the main course. I could get lost in the description of the food and forget to say that the service was also phenomenal- the server, host, and bus staff were all total pros. This is one of our favorite restaurants in the area. The options are delicious. The menu changes but not too often which is also a plus. The pastas are super yummy. The one with the pink sauce is one of my favorites as is the angliotti starter. The starters are great. It's a classic yet modern vibe. So it's wonderful to bring clients here or to celebrate events. There is also a nice little room off to the side that seems to hold parties of what looks like about 12 people. Parking is fantastic as they have their own lot located right behind them.
