Apple crisp

If you're craving a a true country southern comfort meal, look no further. I can't believe we have lived in Katy for 5 years and just found this GEM. The chicken fried steak is MASSIVE ( 2 can definitely share), the steak was SO buttery soft and was packed with flavors, while the apple crisp (apple cobbler) was homemade, nice and warm! OMG, and the FRIED GREEN TOMATOES?? You have NO idea how happy I am to FINALLY find a place that makes good fried green tomatoes. This completely made my entire week!!! Inside has tons of seating while the outdoor area has seating, a playground as well as live music on Friday & Saturday nights. I can't wait for fall so we can return for the live music outdoors (was a bit hot for us still). The girl that took our order never returned and we never had the same waiter which made it a bit confusing when we needed something. Otherwise that we had a great experience and can't wait to come back. 100% recommend trying this place out in old Katy!

Came into town to see Grand babies. From Vegas so was a little skeptical about the 3.7 on Yelp. This place flat out rocks. Every thing was fantastic. Kids meals came out fist and fast which blew me away as this never happens. We will be back most definitely. Don't sleep on this place. Great service, food.

Philly Cheesesteak Wrap

Texas tradition is a must hit. The service is out of this world, they're super friendly and accommodating. The food is delicious. The Philly cheesesteak was enormous. My wife's salad was huge and fresh. And it has that down home country feel inside.

I always see this place packed passing it on the road. I was craving a burger and I figured this place would have a good one since it's always packed. Parking lot was basically full, luckily to find one in the back. It was still fairly busy during a late lunch on a Sunday. A table opened up so we didn't wait. It was kind of stuffy in there, not a lot of air flow. Our waitress and service were great! On to the food: Burger was just ok. It wasn't bad...but it also was nothing to "wow" about. I still don't know why this place is always packed, maybe I ordered the wrong thing.

My fiancé and I recently moved out to Katy from downtown. We wanted to have a bit more peace and a slower pace of life. Boy, did we hit the jackpot finding this week 2 in Katy! We went with his parents as they were visiting, and were able to get a seat immediately on a Friday night! They had live music going and the gentleman singing was wonderful. The vibe of the place is exactly what we wanted, no frills, authentic. You go for the food, and this place DELIVERS. My fiancé and his father got the Chicken Fried Steak and absolutely loved it! We loved this place so much, we have been back twice since this first visit and we've only been in Katy a month. I have tried the quesadilla and the BLT and both were to die for. Every single time we eat here, we leave happy and full. The prices are reasonable and the portions are huge. Do not skip dessert because they have so many delicious options. 10/10 highly recommend

Small Chicken Fried Steak

I had the small chicken fried steak with cream gravy, mashed potatoes with brown gravy, and green beans. The chicken fried steak was crispy on the outside and tender on inside with good flavor even in bites I took without the gravy. The mash potatoes were buttery and full of flavor with the brown gravy. I would say this is one of the better chicken fried steaks I have had in a long time.

The service was great. Our waitress was attentive and very friendly. The place accomodates large groups. The music is all country. Which is fine with me. Now for the food. My wife ordered the double pork chops. Her two sides were fried green tomatoes and fried okra. I tasted one okra and it was pretty good. She gnawed on the bones but left a little meat on them so I finished the rest. OMG! They were perfectly cooked and seasoned just right. Tender and juicy. I got the fried shrimp. My two sides were house salad and sweet potato fries. The shrimp were cooked just right and they were jumbo shrimp cooked down to extra large. What really impressed me was the breading. It was light. Not that extra thick breading that you have to bite through to find a salad shrimp underneath. Their tea is really good. All beer is $4. Except for Modelo. It's $5. I didn't take pictures of the menu, sorry. We will go back and try some other dishes. Next time, I will take pictures of the menu

The food was excellent. My husband had the chicken fried steak, with green beans and hush puppies and Texas toast. He had brown gravy. I had the bacon chicken wrap. And fried okra . My daughter had the cheese burger and chili cheese fries . The service was great. The waitress so nice and on top of it!

First time visiting and glad we found this place. We saw a Reel on social media. I had no idea It was there and I have lived in the NW Houston for 21 years. Great food and service.

What a great dining experience! This was my first time here. I was heading into heavy rush-hour…read moretraffic, so I decided to avoid it and stop to have a good meal before heading home. This restaurant definitely aims to please. I was being very specific about what I wanted for my ribeye steak tonight; waitress Jessie was awesome and listened carefully to my requests. And then to make sure that I was absolutely happy, she brought Chef Kenneth to the table to discuss what I was looking for. Kenneth returned from the kitchen with three beautiful-looking ribeye steaks and we discussed which one would give me the best dining experience. He does some of the butchering himself so he knew exactly what I was looking for. I ended up being served the most fabulous Wagyu steak I've had in a very long time. Unlike the other steaks that can have a seasoning on them, the Wagyu is just salt and pepper and then is served with a beautiful compound butter slathered all over it. They make that butter in-house and it has wine and shallots and bone marrow and other wonderful stuff. Trust me, it's amazing! I ordered extra on the side and poured that all over the top of the steak. Delicious!! Sometimes little things count and it was served with grilled onion that was tasty. I could have had a side of mashed potatoes or asparagus, but I decided to treat myself and try the mac-n-cheese instead. Half of that food was my lunch the next day, so I left enough room for dessert, where my choice was the apple pie bread pudding with cinnamon roll ice cream. That was nice and moist and I enjoyed it. Overall, this was a really great dining experience and I'm so glad that bad traffic gave me the excuse to come here. Will definitely plan a return visit!!

I had been watching this one being built for a while and was especially curious to try it since this location has a full bar, which adds a really fun twist to the traditional coffee shop concept. I stopped in for lunch and decided to sit out on the patio which ended up being the perfect choice. The atmosphere was relaxed, bright, and inviting with a nice open feel that makes it easy to slow down and actually enjoy your meal. The staff was friendly and welcoming from the moment I walked in and everything moved quickly and smoothly. I ordered the guava mimosa and it was SO good. Light, refreshing, and honestly the perfect daytime drink. For food I had the chicken avocado wrap and substituted the chips for truffle fries and both were SOOOOO good. The wrap was fresh, warm, and packed with flavor and the truffle fries were absolutely worth the upgrade. I love that this location keeps the cozy Buzz and Bites feel while also leaning into a slightly more elevated vibe with the bar and patio seating. Between the atmosphere, the friendly staff, and the great food and drinks, I can already tell this will become a regular lunch spot now that it is so close to our office.

More direction is needed to scan tables especially when your server walks by several times and sees your glasses are empty and we still were not asked what we wanted to order after 20 minutes. I could see the staff were bust but something needs to be reigned in her on serving tables. Great staff though, excellent. Robin was our server and she did great. The problem was the cooks in the kitchen. They may need some more training. Well, 2 of us ordered breakfast and 2 of us ordered dinner. The dinner portions both gave 2 thumbs up. 2 breakfast people were not as happy. First thing , plates came out to tables one at a time. Pet peeve of mine. It throws people dining experience off. Whoever cooked the breakfast one came out to greasy and the other came out almost after we were all done. She had asked for a scrambled egg on the side of her French toast and if you look at the photo it was a fried egg chopped up and the French toast was soggy. Only the kitchen to blame for that one. Now the impressive part, they acknowledged it right away and told us it would be taken off the bill, no worries and also served us a complementary dessert for the trouble. Now , that's how a situation should be handled. Hands on managers and making it right. I will give them that. They care about the customers. Everything that was brought out by our table looked very good and saw a couple things brought back to the line. We were sitting right beside the pick up area. It is a very family friendly restaurant and it was very busy. So I'm not going to bash this restaurant or review because I feel if they know- they will work to fix any future problems in the kitchen area. I can only review our situation with hopes that it helps with training. Your line managers did a great job at rectifying the situation.

But wait, there's more....... The exterior could definitely use some work. Host stand plopped outside. Inside felt a little crowded. Wine cellar-ish. Mother's Day, a bit chaotic for all restaurants. Took 10-15 minutes to be greeted after being sat. No big deal, I get it. Santiago was great. We did the mystery mimosa experience which was fun! We go to order our food and BOOM!! This is where they get you. It was all a lie. A very deceiving menu written in a way where you think you're going to get oxtails and jollof rice plus appetizer and dessert for $55 per person. Because that's a great price, not really a deal, just a great price. WRONG. Santiago had to clarify that it was $55 EXTRA ON TOP OF $42 PER PERSON. SO $97 PER PERSON FOR OXTAILS AND JOLLOF RICE, AN APP & DESSERT. RIDICULOUS! TOTALLY DISHONEST AND DECEIVING. Write it as $55 additional per person, so everyone knows what they're getting into before they reserve their table. Because Santiago admitted everyone he served that day was shocked at the additional cost. Not wanting to ruin my wife's FIRST Mother's Day, I brushed it off and still continued with the order. Appetizer: tequeño & empanada. Bland, came out cold and after our entrees came out. Entrees: Oxtail & Jollof rice. I loved it. Flavor was great. Just wish there was a lot more. For $97, you expect to have 6-8 large oxtails and a side of rice. What i got was 4 very tiny oxtails and a full plate of rice!! Peri peri chicken & jollof rice- flavor was nice and smoky. But again, for $97, you expect more than 2 avg size leg quarters and a full plate of rice. Dessert: They were out of key lime pie by noon. I saw the cheesecake, it was a thin plain slice, so we opted for their seis leches cake. It was not good. It was not soaked enough, very dry. The reason the score wasn't lower was because service was great, the entrees tasted great and they gave each mother a single rose and Mother's Day card which had a pin in it that said best mom ever. Which made my wife's day even that much better. Thank you Chef Casey. But I don't think I would visit again solely based on the deceiving menu and small portions that are not worth the additional cost.

Table of 4, waiter addressed us after about 10 minutes, got obviously upset when he figured out we weren't drinking alcohol, treated us poorly the entire rest of the visit (when he actually deigned to stop by). Ordered "hand battered" pickles, which is a lie, these came directly out of the freezer, had absolutely no flavor at all, and were not served with the dressing specified on the menu. He literally dropped them and ran. I had to go the service counter to get us napkins so we could try the food, and we had to flag him down to ask for the accompaniment. When confronted, he literally said "it doesn't come with anything", we replied that the menu said it did, and he insisted that he was correct. So, he was asked for ranch dressing (which is what the menu states was supposed to be served with it), and he stated, "oh, we don't have any of that, we've been out for weeks". REALLY? He just decided he didn't like us, so he treated us like crap. Burger ordered, listed on menu as 1/2 lb., might have been 5 ounces maximum and had no flavor at all. All of just picked at our food, because it was all just sad. In addition, meals that came with fries had the fries served almost 10 minutes after the meals. Saving grace, they were hot and well seasoned, so we finally had something we could all share to eat, but had to fight to get ketchup for those that wanted it. Would most definitely NOT recommend for any reason at all.
