Had a really good time here with my wife and niece, really hit the spot! I had the chicken-fried sirloin with loaded mashed potatoes with gravy and a delicious salad. Their half-and-half tea was perfect, and we had fun with the at table trivia! Our server was great and the rolls with apple butter were tasty. Love it!

This was my first time at this location but I've been to a bunch of other locations before. Even though this is a chain restaurant I have to say that it has always been great from the food all the way to the staff each restaurant that I visited in different states has been awesome. We went for a late lunch early dinner yesterday and was seated immediately. Waiter Andrew was amazing and very friendly. We ordered Burgers, steaks, chicken fried chicken, salads, appetizers, drinks and everything was delivered at the right time. We were served the appetizers and were given plenty of time to enjoy them before our main course arrived. Our drinks were kept filled and dirty dishes were cleaned up immediately after use. Now on to the food, We started off with a cactus blossom that was fried perfectly, serve piping hot with amazing Cajun sauce. We also ordered a appetizer combo that included boneless buffalo wings, tater skins and fried pickles. This was served with ranch dressing and everything was delicious. So for our main courses we had two sirloins and grilled shrimp plates, one steak and rib plate, one classic burger plate, and one country fried chicken plate. Sirloin and grilled shrimp was amazing. Steak was cooked perfectly to medium and the shrimps were nice and juicy. The steak we had topped with mushrooms and onions and this meal was served with a side salad topped with ranch dressing and a loaded baked potato. The sides were pretty amazing as well and we're a nice compliment to the meal. Sirloin and grilled shrimp number 2 was also amazing. This steak was cooked well done and was just as enjoyable as the first plate. For the sides it was also a loaded baked potato and mixed Steam vegetables. Sirloin and ribs was the next entree ordered and the steak was cooked perfectly medium rare was delicious didn't have any gristle or much fat to it. The ribs are indeed fall off the bone and we're very tasty. As for the sides loaded mashed potatoes and a bowl of chili was requested. The only negative about this meal was the loaded mashed potatoes. They were really dry and did not taste very good. The chili on the other hand was absolutely delicious. Country fried chicken was child approved! It was served with an absolutely delicious brown gravy on top and it was fried perfectly crispy. As for the sides there was a salad and loaded french fries. All American cheeseburger was cooked perfectly well done without being too dry. It included American cheese, lettuce, tomatoes and onion. It was served on a Texas size bun. This comes with steak fries that we upgraded to loaded fries. This definitely was a juicy thick Burger that tasted fresh and amazing. We also had the legend margaritas and wow they really are legendary. These were definitely strong Margaritas filled with three different types of Patron vodka. I do have to give a shout out to our waiter Andrew. He was very kind very helpful and very patient taking our very large order. He delivered our food in a timely manner and kept our drinks filled. ***** FYI to the person who left a negative review and has claimed to been eating at this restaurant for 25 years stop lying. This restaurant hasn't even been open that long!!!!!

I like TXRDH. I have eaten at dozens of locations on the road and find them consistently good. Tonight was just OK. Service was great. Mandy & her sidekick at the bar were great. Hostesses were great. Servers were great but my food was a cut below the norm. In order of offense: 1. Out of Miller Light 2. Shrimp sidekick overcooked and rubbery 3. Salmon under-grilled but not undercooked 4. Broccoli was more stalk than florets 5. Green beans were small pieces & parts. Nothing I was served really met the standards I usually expect. Everything was hot & delivered in a timely manner. Seafood is hard to do well. I can hear you "get a damn steak at a steakhouse!" Weight Watchers is my life now. 28 pounds down since Jauary. 20 more to go. I will come back. I assume I can upgrade my rating.

I really don't understand why folks wait 30-45 minutes for this place. It's ok. Service is OK, everything is cramped and busy.. It's... Ok

The service was always great, the food was top notch and the drinks were fantastic. Kilgore and Longview in general just do not have much fine dining. Jack Ryan's was the diamond in the rough. At some point in 2024, Jack Ryan's made a decision to close doors to the general public (outside of private events). My partner and I were crushed as this one of our first picks when it came to going out. In late 2024, they decided to revert their decision and re-open to the public. We were elated. I came here on NYE with my fiance. The hostess working here at the time had a terrible attitude. Our server was mediocre. The food was good - but we could tell it was a different vibe from before. With it being a holiday - we assumed that was the reason for the less than par experience. 3 weeks later, we came back with my brother from out of town. He had a refined palette - so I did what anyone would do trying to impress their brother in ETX - and took him to Jack Ryan's. I made reservations for 5 weeks in advance to be told by the same hostess from weeks before that I had no reservations and could not be seated. After some push back, we were seated near the bar area. It turns out our server was actually the solo bartender for the night. What a nightmare that was. She was absent for most of the night. Drinks were slow. She was nice and this was not her fault. Her company set her up for failure. It was very disappointing! About a week later, I called to complain to the manager, Jason. He apologized profusely and told me to give them another shot. He would make sure we were taken care. While we likely will give them one more chance - I'm pretty much done with Jack Ryan's. Their service has been terrible. The food doesnt have the same magic as before. The bathrooms weren't as clean. I would question coming here and dropping a few hundred dollars until they can get their sparkle back.

When you walk in, you see the bakery, which is huge and has a lot of selections. There is a separate line for ordering food that was pretty long, but didn't take a lot of time to get to the front. Ordered the cheeseburger with a side of fries and drink. The burger itself was very juicy and was a very good portion. The buns were very soft and fresh. The fries were amazing. Very big and fresh. The topping bar was self serve, which was really nice. Are they in the mail? I decided to look at the bakery and went with the lemon pie. It was absolute perfection. I love lemon pies, and this was one of my favorites I've ever had. Just the right amount of sweetness, and the lemon was very prominent with each bite. Lots of holiday themed and fall themed cookies, cakes, and other pastries. I wish I could have tried everything. Overall, this place is a 10 out of 10. Please try to stop by if you're in the area!

I liked how I can control how much of each topping I put on the burger. I absolutely loved the fries- I could tell they were super fresh. They were huge, and I liked how they weren't drowned in salt. Honestly, some of the best fries I have ever tried in my life!! The ambiance is so cozy! Tons of tables and booths. Was not impressed that I couldn't get what I wanted. I wanted the Mac & cheese balls - they were out and I got a explanation of how its a specific cheese thats used and is hard to find so they never have it to make them - ok take it off the menu if she never has it to serve. Disappointed. Next I wanted a cup of chicken gumbo. Server tells me "she hasn't told me if shes made it or not"...im sorry what? (As someone who served/bartended for 20 years, you always know what's available at the start of your shift). So now being very disappointed again, I settled with the Philly Cheese steak and fried pickles. My son ordered the wings and fried rice. My husband and daughter were going to split the seafood boil and we got her the chicken tenders with fries as a back up because shes been begging for a seafood boil and we wanted to treat her to one after her school musical. Let's cut to the food - mind you, nothing came out at the same time. It took far too long for the fried pickles to come out. They were VERY salty and extremely crunchy. (Over cooked). A good 15 minutes later came out the oysters for my husband. He liked them - nothing special. My sons rice was next, a good 20 minutes after the pickles. This was probably hands down the best thing they have on the menu! Then came his wings - he said they were good. They were definitely drowning in a hot sauce bath. Next thing to come out was my daughter's chicken strips with fries. She said it was ok. She only ate 1 chicken strip and a few fries. (She wanted the seafood boil!) Then came out the seafood boil. The #3 on the menu. Hubby pulled some crab out for our 8yo daughter to have the first bite. She chewed once and spot it out because her mouth was on fire. This led to tears of it being toooo spicy! Hubby took 2 bites and the same thing. He spit it out because it was too spicy. Extremely disappointed at this point. Then came my sandwich. Something simple, right? Nope, not for this place. Burnt bread - too hard to bite into. The sandwich was dry AF and the meat was over cooked. I had one bite and Hubby took one bite. We were not impressed by anything here. The server came to ask me about the food when I was going up to get our bill and pay. I told him it wasnt great and the seafood was too spicy. He stated he told the cook to not make it spicy since a kid would be eating it. I said "it was fu@!ing covered in seasoning". ((OH we were also sitting outside so the lighting wasnt tooo great)). So then, the cook/owner whatever lady asked me about it and I told her how it was. She said "I can rinse it off in the pot", I told her it was fine, we were done. She basically told me she didnt season it much and its how it is. Well, bish, yoir cooking is trash. And to top it, the other couple in there said and I quote "bro, can we get 2 waters? This is too spicy"....sooooooo shes over seasoning her chit, and over cooking easy stuff. My advice to the cook, maybe you should listen to the customers. We spent almost $130 on food plus $25 tip to the serve. He told me he couldn't do anything other than take the drinks off the bill. (Insert eye roll)... it wasnt about the money or getting anything for free. Its the cook/owner taking accountability and maybe just MAYBE apologize that you did in fact, over season the chit out of the food! Zero stars. Sadly I had to put one star to do this. Will not return or recommend to anyone. Good luck keeping that place open when you dont serve everything onto the menu, over season and have an empty restaurant at dinner time on top of having slow cook times. Also, all the food should go out at the same time.
