Dang!! Butcher Shop, you need to do better. Customer service matters, and paying customers shouldn't have to deal with rude, disrespectful employees. We stopped in on Thursday around 5:30 p.m. hoping to grab some salted caramel cookies, but they were sold out. So my husband ordered three Heath cookies and three white chocolate macadamia nut cookies instead. When the employee handed us our order, there was only one white chocolate macadamia nut cookie. My husband politely let her know that he had ordered three. Instead of simply saying, "Oops, let me fix that," she immediately argued that he had only asked for one. When he asked for the other two cookies, she gave us an obvious attitude. I honestly don't understand why. It's not like we were asking for free cookies--we paid for the other two. Maybe she was annoyed that she had to ring them up separately, but regardless, that isn't how customers should be treated. We stayed polite the entire time. We didn't raise our voices or give her any attitude back. It was disappointing to be treated that way over such a simple mistake. Experiences like this leave a bad impression, and my husband said that was the last time he'll shop at this location. The really disappointing part is that they make some damn good cookies. One of the best burgers I've had in a long time. The service here is wonderful. Everyone was very nice and treated you like family. The space is very large, open, well lit, and clean. When you walk in, you see the bakery, which is huge and has a lot of selections. There is a separate line for ordering food that was pretty long, but didn't take a lot of time to get to the front. Ordered the cheeseburger with a side of fries and drink. The burger itself was very juicy and was a very good portion. The buns were very soft and fresh. The fries were amazing. Very big and fresh. The topping bar was self serve, which was really nice. Are they in the mail? I decided to look at the bakery and went with the lemon pie. It was absolute perfection. I love lemon pies, and this was one of my favorites I've ever had. Just the right amount of sweetness, and the lemon was very prominent with each bite. Lots of holiday themed and fall themed cookies, cakes, and other pastries. I wish I could have tried everything. Overall, this place is a 10 out of 10. What a fantastic restaurant! Affordable, fast service, warm, and tasty food. You order at the counter, and the employees are so sweet! They have a large selection of burgers, as well as raw meats and baked goods (from cookies to full sized cakes!). I ordered the turkey burger with a side of fries and a drink. The turkey burger was HUGE and not overly seasoned. The toppings bar was super clean and organized, and so many toppings to choose from! I liked how I can control how much of each topping I put on the burger. I absolutely loved the fries- I could tell they were super fresh. They were huge, and I liked how they weren't drowned in salt. Honestly, some of the best fries I have ever tried in my life!! The ambiance is so cozy! Tons of tables and booths. This place used to be packed at breakfast time... we were surprised to walk in and find plenty of seats.... Then once we got our food we figured out why. The pancakes and waffles tasted like we just dumped straight flour into our mouths, the bacon was super thin when it used to be thick cut bacon, and the Dr Pepper mixture was way off... tried the sprite and the sprocket sprayed out everywhere..... This used to be a wonderful place to eat and take the family. After this experience and the last three being similar... sadly they have lost my business. I'm assuming the kitchen staff that kept this place wonderful all have now been employed at fresh and other locations. Sad to see this establishment go down hill so fast. There is active black mold growing on several ceiling tiles, half of which are directly above the kitchen cooking station. There is black mold growing on ceiling tiles next to the air conditioning vents in the seating area of the restaurant making the mold air borne. Multiple items are in disrepair. 3 of the mounting structures for the handrails on the step stairs section leading up to the seating area of the restaurant are no longer bolted down and in serious need of repair. How the health inspector hasn't closed this place down for multiple health code violations is absolutely shocking. read more

I went there to order my wedding cake and 3 different people kept saying "hold on hold on" Finally someone came out and basically told us we could not order a sheet cake for a wedding..I found this to be a lie since I know someone who did. I've had family eat here for years and they can't brag on it enough. Moved here's 7 months ago and have gone here 5 times. The lady that screams that an order is ready, if person doesn't show right up (hello.. people bought and paid for this food, if it trashes them longer to get there... it's their business) but to scream that they'll toss it out if you don't go pick it up within the next few SECONDs! Nope nope nope. 10 meals between us and not 1 was good. Burgers dry AB's flavorless, CFS, frozen patties that makes me want to go to DQ, at least you know what you're getting and it's cheap) fries that are either really cooked perfect or mostly over fried and just grease bombs. Staff is unfriendly and rude, FLOOR! GREASY, SLIPPERY AND TACKLES ARE TACKY to touch. Bathrooms are hit or miss. I don't know how they stay in business, except for the baked goods... they are very good.. fresh meats don't have pricing and trying to get assistance, is not worth the stand time to get help. Wanted to go here since we moved to Longview. Interesting place reminded me of Fuddruckers. We entered the restaurant and had no idea which way to turn. There is no indication of a hostess or a place to order. We were standing around the ordering counter, not knowing that us where you order from, and not one single employee looked our way. The lady handling the, as I found out later, was over to the side cleaning some trays or something. We walked around trying to find someone to ask when I looked at the guy putting up the orders. I asked him if it was seat yourself and he answered yes but did you order at the counter? No, well you have to order over there first. Ok so we go back the way we came and lo and behold there is the lady that was cleaning something at the register because another couple was in line. I ordered the burger and a side of onion rings. Hubby ordered the rib eye steak sandwich with fries. There is a separate charge for the fries or onion rings. And drinks. We sat down and waited until our number was called. Hubby got up and got the food and went to the fixings bar for the lettuce, tomato and ketchup, etc. the rib eye sandwich was a steak folded in half on bread. Very juicy and cooked right. Hubby enjoyed it and could not finish it. My burger was ok, nothing fancy, the bread could have been fresher and I would have given them four star. Some good seasoning and they would have gotten all 5 stars. Onion rings I believe are coated right there and fresh because the coating fell off. I'll go back maybe try something else. read more

Me and my dad came out to eat here on Mother's Day, as we eat at the same places all the time, and wanted to go somewhere different. We found this place super packed, as you would expect on the typical Mother's Day. I got the bacon cheeseburger with fries and a drink, and my dad got the CFS plate. Both of the entrees were decent. I do have a few issues with the burger. The bacon wasn't crispy, and the hamburger itself needed a lot of mayo to be juicy enough. Also, we took issue that The Butcher Shop uses plastic plates and plastic silverware to carry its food, and yet, it's trying to masquerade as a sit-down restaurant. I know of fast food restaurants here in Longview that still use real plates and silverware to this day, and the burgers they have are juicier than what I received today. I feel indifferent about the condiment and vegetable bar, because yes, you save more money in the price tag when you do that. But I'd rather pay more money and get an outstanding product, than try to compromise on quality. The most appealing thing to me was the bakery, which I didn't bother to touch, because the lines were already pretty long. I wanted to get something for my birthday, which is tomorrow, but I may consider other options now. This place sold a pie with a fingernail in it, when the situation was brought to them, they denied all wrongdoing and said they did nothing even though this nail was implanted in this pie. It's important for people to feel comfortable buying something from a company and when something like this happens, your reaction means a lot. A staple of Longview, the butcher shop doesn't dissapoint. In addition to the restaurant, They have a great bakery to the left filled with cakes, pastries, cookies, and pies. Definitely enjoy their pound cake!. their menu is straight forward with burgers, chicken fried steak, steak, hot dogs, chili, and chicken options. There is usually a special or two and they have baked potatoes. you order and pay at the counter by the menu sign. they have a burger bar on the other side of the kitchen where you can dress up your meal. What a gem! Who would've thought such great food and desserts were hidden away in Longview, TX? This place is a MUST if you're in the area. Everything is super affordable and tastes great. My personal favorites are the bacon cheeseburger, the fudge bottom pie, and the Heathen cookies!! I ate that pie slice like a piece of pizza on my way back to Dallas. The staff are very friendly and work very quickly to get your food out to you. I came during the Sunday lunch rush and was in and out in less than an hour.
