We found this gem while on a college tour of LeTourneau University with a few families and teens, and then a visit to the East Oil Texas Museum on our way out of town. The food was fabulous. We were so surprised to find many amazing gluten free options in a small town, too. The owner is super friendly and has such a kind heart! She makes the bread herself. The only disappointment is that it's a 4-hour drive from me. I'd be in there all the time if not! Even cooler was that a car show was happening right behind the cafe, in the midst of long rows of old derricks. We thoroughly enjoyed the town, but this cafe was just the best. read more

Let me start by saying this was my first visit to Downtown D'Lites, but definitely not my last! I picked up a Southwest salad with chicken for lunch today. I tried to call in an order, but got voicemail. Normally, this would be off-putting, but the message was so nice. "If we don't answer, it's because we are busy taking care of our customers and can't get to the phone." I can appreciate that. The wait was short. The ingredients were fresh. The flavor was amazing. Great Food! Went on Monday and got the soup sandwich special. The Chicken tortilla soup and turkey sandwich were delicious. I also had an ice cream sandwich for dessert and it was very good. This place is one of my favorites. It is small and can get busy really fast. The family that runs this place are some of the best folks you'll find. They really do care about their customers and are more than happy to help in any way. The food is is all great, and they always strive for perfection. Additionally, there is a section of books that one can go through, as well as several locally made crafts for sale. One thing that sets them apart from their competitors is that you can order dinner meals to heat up at home. This is amazing for when you want something that is good, but you don't have a ton of time. If you're in the area, you need to check this place out. read more

I saw this restaurant on Yelp. Decided to try it as I like to try new places. This is a delightful establishment. Locally owned. Everything was made fresh. Very friendly staff. There is also cool outside seating available. Options for pickup and curbside are available. I hope to give it a 4 star rating next time. Delicious and healthy salads, sandwiches, stuffed potatoes in a bright and friendly storefront in downtown Kilgore. Seven homemade dressings indicate the homespun freshness. The half-and-half lunches are a great deal and plenty filling. I had the grilled chicken D'Lite salad and a Southwestern grilled chicken wrap. Both delicious. I started to eat at Edgar's Big Taco #2 which is only a street over. Walked in and sat down for several minutes and was not acknowledged at all. Finally a waitress passed by and asked if I needed a menu. She came back through later and kind of tossed it on the table without a word. So far, I'd gotten nothing including a smile or a greeting. I picked up my wallet and went two doors down to Downtown D'Lites. I got a warm greeting accompanied by a great smile. I walked up and ordered and received another warm greeting and smile. My go to place to have lunch several tunes a month for the past TWO YEARS!!! This place doesn't only serves amazing food & delicious frozen yogurt, it's good for the soul. Every single time I've come in for lunch my spirit is lifted & the staff is always amazing & positive. This place is ask about wholesome food. They make their own bread and frozen yogurt so you don't have to worry about those pesky preservatives! Mom & Pop run establishment that deserves much better ratings than this! I have tried most of the soups and sandwiches on the menu and have liked them all. I've heard that they make the bread from scratch daily. They have a small frozen yogurt bar and "homemade" ice cream sandwiches. I had lunch with a group here to celebrate some birthdays, and the birthday girls got free fro-yo with their meals. There's a few shelves filled with books to read while you're visiting. Local musicians play here Friday nights. This venue hosts fundraisers for people in the community often. read more

Looking for a great place to eat at least relatively healthy? Look no further! This is a great sandwich shop. I had the bacon ranch chicken salad on wheat with spinach. Delicious. My wife had the salami panini on wheat. So delicious (we split halves). After eating, my wife smelled "cookies" fresh from the oven. Turns out, the cookies were actually brownies for making ice cream sandwiches. Of course, making mama happy makes me happy, so I got a couple of those "cookies". A decision I do NOT REGRET! They also have amazing Frozen Yogurt in great flavor you don't often find at other regular froyo places. Best part of all is the family that owns it. Stopped by here for lunch with my coworker. It was good! It's small and a yogurt shop/deli, so there aren't many food options. On the wall is the menu, which has wraps, salads, soup of the day, potatoes, and make-your-own sandwich options. My coworker and I each ordered a veggie wrap with dressing. I also bought a bag of chips, since it didn't come with any sides. The food came out quickly and was good! The wrap was large and the fixings were fresh. Prices were reasonable. Also, there are several iced tea options, including a yummy herbal hibiscus raspberry tea. It's often times hard to find decent food options when you're in a small town, besides your typical fast food or Mexican food options, that is, so I was pleased to find this place and would go there again. read more

(Owner) & her staff make this THE best place for lunch. Just be sure to go before noon to avoid the massive crowd but get their ASAP before 1 or you run the chance of them running out of food! The homemade frozen yogurt (usually 5-6 flavors) are low-calorie and also difficult to choose...so I just get a dollop of each!! Debbie's Cook's Delite (now on Wed.) is always s winner. Gluten-free options are available, too!! WINNING!!! Soft, Christian music and the Inspirational book library make this a great place to relax and enjoy a peaceful lunch or after work snack! The food is always healthy and tasty. The atmosphere, though simple, is wholesome and relaxing. This makes it a great place to hang out and visit over a business lunch. The Southwestern wrap is my fav, but their gigantic baked potato is a close second. Though the menu is not huge, you can depend on DD to have the healthiest menu in town. They have a variety of lunch specials throughout the week and the PRICE makes it a real bargain! Besides that, they make it a point to learn your name, which makes you feel like a valued customer. This pretty little restaurant has wonderful fresh and light lunches. Choose from a selection of yummy sandwiches that come on HOMEMADE wheat or white bread....or you have one made up as a wrap.
