Food was very good, and portions were big! I had the chorizo and eggs, and it was really good, my husband had the country breakfast, the biscuits and gravy were really good too, he said he enjoyed his breakfast also. As we are in town for a family illness we are trying every place that someone or yelp recommends. This restaurant was very good we started with Fried Mushrooms they were fantastic! They batter them not the frozen ones and I do believe that I ate too many but I couldn't stop. My mother and I happened to be in the area taking care of business and running errands. Not too far from where we were, this was just up the road. We decided to stop and check this place out. We were pleasantly surprised at the menu items and prices in a good way. This place had your typical American faire. Burgers, club sandwiches, breakfast, etc. This place seemed well maintained and our food was brought out rather quickly. My mom hadn't eaten breakfast earlier so she wanted a burger. Much to our surprise, it was rather large for a single patty burger. She said it was one of the best burgers she ever had and the fries were so crispy and delicious. (I had to try one) I got a BLT and it was rather nice and light. I would defiantly come back if I were to ever be in the area again. We were stuck in Carthage for a few days and kept going and picking up food and was only Luke warm. However, the food from Main Street Cafe made it back to room piping hot. The shrimp were large and delicious. Also loved their chili dogs. We will be back next time we're traveling through. read more

Cute little cafe I was driving from Louisiana to Tyler Texas and had to stop for breakfast. Ordered something off menu and it was amazing. Great service, nice people. Must stop in and check out their buffet. My plate was huge, and I got all veggie and all meat omelet. Only cost $13 wow! There is a bit of a wait but only because the food is so good! Found this gem on a Friday when the special is fried frog legs and catfish with choice of 2 sides. Wow! So fresh and cooked to perfection - light, crispy batter and moist, tender fish & frog. Yum. The sides of cole slaw and cowboy beans were tasty and thankfully absent of sugar. The tables and chairs are arranged awkwardly and the atmosphere could use some attention, but there are excellent cooks in the kitchen and that's what matters most. Staff was friendly and apologetic for slow service. They had gotten behind in the kitchen. I can understand that and don't mind the wait if the food is good. I really wanted to give a good review but the food was very greasy. Even the food that wasn't fried was greasy. My wife got a BLT with cheese. The bacon was put on very greasy which also caused the sandwich to be soggy None of the fried food was drained as well. House made chips - greasy. Tator tots - greasy. Fried pickles were... You guessed it - greasy. Not just a little shine but dripping with grease. I don't think the cook had any idea that the food should be drained before going on a plate. My burger was good and my boys got a pizza that was good. I really liked the feel of the place. The atmosphere was good and light hearted. The bottomless coffee is hot and fresh, and the wait staff always has a smile. Pancakes are bigger than your head, the sausage is spicy and not out of a box. Morning breakfast, eggs and hash browns cooked to perfection, biscuits are better than Bojangles, Chorizo portion is massive and the chicken fried steak known here as Southern comfort is over the top. This is a quaint little hole in the wall located across the street from Brookshires Brothers. The decor is rustic and simple but comfortable and the waitstaff is friendly and responsive to customers. The staff are friendly, but move like snails on honey. Since they re-opened I've only been there 2 times and was totally disappointed. I ordered 30 min before I went the 1st time and told them I would pick up at 11:00. My order was still not ready and I had to wait another 35 min. The 2nd time I went to get the special, but it didn't look good. The chicken dressing looked like mush, so I ordered a club sandwich. Outstanding! I had to stop for gas, and I asked the attendant where I should get lunch. She pointed across the street at this place, and I'm so glad she did. Down-home cooking in a welcoming atmosphere. Classic, no-frills, small/home town cafe, with a $10 lunch plate (includes main, 2 sides, bread, drink, and dessert!!). I had the fried pork chop, corn bread, mashed potatoes, and greens. Then more sweet tea, and more greens. I left with a slice of lemon cake that I have yet to try, but based on the rest of the meal, I'm positive it's going to be delicious.
