My father and I stopped here for lunch. We were on our way to Caddo Lake State Park. First time eating and driving thru here! The ladies working behind the counter were super friendly and kind. Be ready to wait at least 10-15 minutes before your food comes out because our Chicken Fried Steaks were dredge and fried fresh and boy was worth the wait!! Some of the best, if not best chicken fried steaks I've had. Everything tastes fresh and hot. Definitely recommend trying this place out if you're ever driving though. Don't miss it read more

Stopped by driving through Pretty place inside nice ambiance Nice enough people but open kitchen and lots of gossip and talking Not as much serving One man Came in Never acknowledged so he got up and left I can't blame him Biscuit was best thing on the plate Inn my tried to get a second one but they were out Only thing hot was gravy Maybe we needed to be an hour earlier I dunno Took almost 30 mins to get food Try at your own peril read more

Authentic Texas Country Cookin' When you walk in and see pickled pepper sauce on the table for the peas and greens, you know it is gonna be good. We ate off the steam table. Excellent. Perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned, perfectly deep East Tx country cookin' at it's finest. Both myself and spouse grew up in the deep woods of SE Tx in the 60's and 70's when everybody's mama and grandma cooked from scratch. We know southern food. What I ate today rivaled my grandmother's cookin' and that's saying something. I had grilled porkchop, purple hull peas, greens, hot water cornbread, coconut cake, tea. Spouse had beef tips and gravy over rice, purple hills, greens, hotwater cornbread, lemon cake. Tea was fresh-brewed and so was coffee. $28 bucks, including drinks and dessert. Service was good and friendly. I tip my native Se Tx deep woods hat to you, ladies; you can cook, INDEED! read more

My husband had the cheeseburger. He was well pleased with it. I had the chicken fried steak special. It would have been fine, but they way over salted the coating. I was not able to eat it. The waitress was very friendly and took care of us. From the looks of the clientele, it was a favorite of locals, which is a good sign. read more

Food was very good, and portions were big! I had the chorizo and eggs, and it was really good, my husband had the country breakfast, the biscuits and gravy were really good too, he said he enjoyed his breakfast also. Service was a little slow, but worth it. The lady who waited on us was really nice, she was also who cooked our breakfast. The bathrooms could use an update and a more thorough cleaning. read more

Good quit friendly place to get a quick bite to eat . I had a grilled chicken wrap great flavor and my husband had the filly cheese steak that he enjoyed and a side of fries read more

As we are in town for a family illness we are trying every place that someone or yelp recommends. This restaurant was very good we started with Fried Mushrooms they were fantastic! They batter them not the frozen ones and I do believe that I ate too many but I couldn't stop. Sister got the Fried Chicken plate and she loved the crunchy crust like mom use to make and the taste was spot on, I had the Dry Parmesan Wings and the flavor was really good. We talked to the owner and some locals ( Thelma and Louis) who says they eat there almost everyday so that speaks for itself!!! Rather you live her or just passing through you can find great home cooking here. Had that small down pull up a chair feeling read more

Very friendly folks. Food was good. Menu items as well as special plate lunches. Bathroom could've been a little cleaner and updated and better parking lot. read more

I ordered a chili cheeseburger with tator tots. Burger and tots were cooked to order, and the portions were plentiful. The tots were perfectly cooked. My dad ordered the pork chops with greens, peas, hot water cornbread and dessert, and really enjoyed it as well. Very friendly staff, good atmosphere, and very good prices. Can't wait to try some of the other items! read more

My mother and I happened to be in the area taking care of business and running errands. Not too far from where we were, this was just up the road. We decided to stop and check this place out. We were pleasantly surprised at the menu items and prices in a good way. This place had your typical American faire. Burgers, club sandwiches, breakfast, etc. This place seemed well maintained and our food was brought out rather quickly. My mom hadn't eaten breakfast earlier so she wanted a burger. Much to our surprise, it was rather large for a single patty burger. She said it was one of the best burgers she ever had and the fries were so crispy and delicious. (I had to try one) I got a BLT and it was rather nice and light. I would defiantly come back if I were to ever be in the area again. I'm uploading the menu's pictures for reference for anyone who needs a heads up! read more

We were stuck in Carthage for a few days and kept going and picking up food and was only Luke warm. However, the food from Main Street Cafe made it back to room piping hot. The shrimp were large and delicious. Also loved their chili dogs. We will be back next time we're traveling through. read more

The absolute best, for those who love that small-town east Texas ambience & good food too.

Cute little cafe I was driving from Louisiana to Tyler Texas and had to stop for breakfast. Ordered something off menu and it was amazing. Great service, nice people. Must stop in and check out their buffet. My plate was huge, and I got all veggie and all meat omelet. Only cost $13 wow! There is a bit of a wait but only because the food is so good! Well worth the wait! read more

Food and service is great! However, the bathroom. This is one area that needs to be cleaned and remodeled for a men's and women's room rather than one nasty duel purpose room. read more

Found this gem on a Friday when the special is fried frog legs and catfish with choice of 2 sides. Wow! So fresh and cooked to perfection - light, crispy batter and moist, tender fish & frog. Yum. The sides of cole slaw and cowboy beans were tasty and thankfully absent of sugar. The tables and chairs are arranged awkwardly and the atmosphere could use some attention, but there are excellent cooks in the kitchen and that's what matters most. (Still, spiffing up the dining areas would be a nice touch.) Recommended! read more

Maybe we expected better after having read the reviews, but this was nothing special. Service was pretty slow, food was good but not fantastic. I doubt if we would go back when in the area again. read more

Staff was friendly and apologetic for slow service. They had gotten behind in the kitchen. I can understand that and don't mind the wait if the food is good. I really wanted to give a good review but the food was very greasy. Even the food that wasn't fried was greasy. My wife got a BLT with cheese. The bacon was put on very greasy which also caused the sandwich to be soggy None of the fried food was drained as well. House made chips - greasy. Tator tots - greasy. Fried pickles were... You guessed it - greasy. Not just a little shine but dripping with grease. I don't think the cook had any idea that the food should be drained before going on a plate. My burger was good and my boys got a pizza that was good. I really liked the feel of the place. The atmosphere was good and light hearted. I think with the right person in the kitchen it would have been great. read more

Had the burger. It was amazing. Dressed with very fresh veggies. Can't wait to visit and try something Elise!

Down home cooking, down home honest clientele, lots of 10 gallon hats, bib overalls and folks chewing the rag about almost anything. The bottomless coffee is hot and fresh, and the wait staff always has a smile. Pancakes are bigger than your head, the sausage is spicy and not out of a box. Morning breakfast, eggs and hash browns cooked to perfection, biscuits are better than Bojangles, Chorizo portion is massive and the chicken fried steak known here as Southern comfort is over the top. I love that they serve a 16 ounce sirloin steak as an option at the top of the menu. You will not leave here hungry. read more

The food amazing the service amazing I love coming here it is just like amazing if I could I would eat this all day

OH... MY... GOODNESS!!! What a very pleasant surprise. Food was absolutely fabulous. We started with some made from scratch onion rings... so good! Hubby had a double cheeseburger with house made chips.I had the grilled shrimp with lemon asparagus and cheesy riced cauliflower. Did I say fabulous??? And, very friendly service. They probably would benefit from a little longer Saturday hours, maybe 7:00 to 1:00 instead of 6:00-11:00. There were several folks still wanting to come in after the doors were locked. Definitely worth a stop!!! read more

This is a quaint little hole in the wall located across the street from Brookshires Brothers. The decor is rustic and simple but comfortable and the waitstaff is friendly and responsive to customers. My wife had chicken and dressing. She liked it a lot. I had chicken fried steak which was darn near perfect. The mashed potatoes were great and the gravy was more than passable. The only negative is that its too far from home to go to on a regular basis. Chicken Fried Steak read more

The best local business for breakfast. Food was made to order and delicious!!! The biscuits were amazing

The staff are friendly, but move like snails on honey. Since they re-opened I've only been there 2 times and was totally disappointed. I ordered 30 min before I went the 1st time and told them I would pick up at 11:00. My order was still not ready and I had to wait another 35 min. The 2nd time I went to get the special, but it didn't look good. The chicken dressing looked like mush, so I ordered a club sandwich. Several people were waiting, so it took them about 40 minutes to make my order. They were disorganized and messing up on the orders. read more

Breakfast was really good. Service was very friendly and the food all came out hot and fast must try

The food was awesome. Cafe breakfast, great; lot of food. BLT, yummy. Service was excellent. Atmosphere totally relaxed. It's a hole in the wall and the decor, just tables and chairs. We were there just before the lunch crowd and when they arrived , the place filled up fast! I would recommend their lunch buffet based on how fresh it was and the salad bar looked amazing!! Give them a try, I don't think you will be disappointed. read more

Y'all! Don't pass on this place! We are traveling north from Beaumont for a family get together & found this restaurant on Yelp. The food is AMAZING! I got the special of chicken & dressing with sides of cabbage, pinto beans & cranberry sauce. This was some of the best home cooking I've ever had! My husband got the Kicker Steak & said it was amazing also! We will definitely remember this place next time we are on the road! read more

Outstanding! I had to stop for gas, and I asked the attendant where I should get lunch. She pointed across the street at this place, and I'm so glad she did. Down-home cooking in a welcoming atmosphere. Classic, no-frills, small/home town cafe, with a $10 lunch plate (includes main, 2 sides, bread, drink, and dessert!!). I had the fried pork chop, corn bread, mashed potatoes, and greens. Then more sweet tea, and more greens. I left with a slice of lemon cake that I have yet to try, but based on the rest of the meal, I'm positive it's going to be delicious. Will definitely be stopping here every time I pass through from now on. read more
