Went with a large family gathering, so I'm going to have to just stick with what I ordered since I didn't pay attention to everyone's meal. I believe there was 12 of us. They accommodated us quickly got us our drinks, and took our order in a speedy manor. It took a bit for the food to come out, but they were making 12 orders to come out at roughly the same time, so no worries there. Chicken fried steak, eggs over medium, grits (asked for cheese on top), biscuit (no gravy). The food came out and it was a nice plate. The steak wasn't the largest I've seen by any means (they often take up the whole plate but this one was about 1/3-1/2). Eggs were well cooked--over medium being still runny yolk, but the whites are solid w/no slime to them. They nailed those eggs. The steak was good, the breading was wonderful--large flakey batter, fried perfectly, decent flavor, though it certainly was meant to need that gravy. Gravy was great, not sweet at all (yeah, I've had sweet sausage gravy before, ick) and seasoned well. I just had to add pepper for my own tastes, but no salt of anything else. Even though my initial impression was that it was slightly small, it was delicious and honestly, perfectly filling--I'm trying to lose weight and eat smaller portions (down 22lbs, yay) so maybe they were secretly helping me. The grits were great, however I didn't get my cheese. They were cooked well, not mushy or slimy, not "gritty" from undercook. Good stuff. As for the missing cheese, that's OK, I mixed in some of the leftover gravy from the steak (there was plenty) and that made them absolutely delicious. The biscuit was large and clearly homemade. Great thin crust and very fluffy on the inside. Enough butter flavor built in they were very easily eaten by themselves or with any condiment you could want. Very good biscuits! The ladies were good about keeping up with us and our refills and were fun and flirty the whole time, making us feel like regulars (well, some of us were regulars, so I just rode their coattails for the attention). The parking lot is a minefield, but if you find the space to wedge a car, you've found a parking spot. Would absolutely go back. read more

All ways enjoyed the food here, but each time my husband and I have eaten there their level of service is lacking. It's set your self after a cheerful greeting form the kitchen area. the server come to the table you have chosen with menus and to get what you would like to start your meal off with. The Servicer walked away with my coffee order and my husband 's Iced ted. Three mins or so it seemed we got are drinks and placed are order this also took so long the food was cold. Stopped in here on a Monday when all the other restaurants were closed. They had already run out of one of their specials so I had the chicken fried steak, gravy, mashed potatoes, and okra. So apparently they don't want you to bring in an outside coffee, even in a yeti that clearly did not come from a local coffee shop competitor. Have to admit The food was really good. The food is good home-cooking and the service is good. The only problem I have with this place is something that always annoys me and I don't think there is any excuse for it. When asking for more of a condiment, the customer should be told that there is an extra charge for it. I don't like surprises when the bill arrives. read more

A gem in Gladewater, TX. This cafe hit the lunch spot for the family. We had the Saturday special (burgers), double patty melt and the club deluxe. It's a locals favorite and we glad we found it. Took a bike ride since weather has been great. New to the area so we went exploring on the hog. Found this spot by checking out some reviews. Food was good ol down home cooking like you would expect. Thouroughly enjoyed dining in this cute country diner. We arrived 44 minutes before they were closing. With a smile they seated us, took our order and our meals came out hot and fresh even with only one waitress working a full house of patrons. My husband had the popcorn shrimp, cottage cheese and fried okra with hush puppies. I chose the hamburger steak, fried squash and Texas toast. We felt it was one of the best meals we have received in a long time. Chose the coconut cream pie to go as we checked out. It was creamy, rich and full of flavor! If you are looking for some home cooking, comfort food this is the place. It's nothing fancy but the food was delicious and the service was friendly and made us feel welcome. I had the country fried steak breakfast which included 3 eggs, steak and gravy, biscuits, and hash browns. My husband had the Friday special of Catfish, fried okra and fries. Both meals were delicious and all under $30. The only con is that they still have a smoking section for seating indoors. If you are adverse to smelling smoke while eating get your food to go. read more

I am a disabled veteran that just had disc replacement surgery. My elderly mother and I were threatened by a to go customer because we wanted to sit down but the lady wouldn't move. She threatened to harm us both by flipping the table. A waitress behind the counter tried to provoke her to harm us. I have filed a police report, a bbb complaint and reported them to Dept if Justice for ada violation. Do not eat here if you want to be safe. Place seemed cozy, service was good, food not so good. Ordered fried mushrooms and they were good. I ordered chicken quesadillas and I don't know what it was that I got. It was BAD...looked like a mess. Chicken with some kind of cheesy sauce? I assume a quesadilla is made with shredded cheese and cooked until it's melted. This was just gross and sloppy. I would give this place a 5 for the super delicious food and great prices, but it was wayyyyy too smoky. I can't believe the health department hasn't shut this place down or at least required them to remove the smoking section! I brought my less than 2 year daughter and hated exposing her to all the smoke. Our eyes were watering as soon as we walked in. Worse than a bar. .... The biscuits were amazing and so was the gravy. Recommended by a police officer, my friends and I dropped by this place for an early dinner after being in town for the weekend. We all ordered the mashed potato bowls with steak and gravy. Shoot it was real good. One of my friends is very sensitive to cigarette smoke. They have a separate closed door area. It's not bad, but it seeps through the cracks so take note if you're allergic and sit at the other side of the restaurant. I didn't mind it at all. read more

I had the Sasquatch burger with a fried egg on top and home fries. It was so good I wanted to make a plaster cast of it to prove it was real. All of it was worth the 15 dollars it cost and the iced tea was good as well. It has a closed off smoking section, but the smell of smoke was everywhere. Best onion rings in town. As others have mentioned, the smoke smell is really strong. We usually get it to go and you can still smell it in your clothes after just a few minutes inside. Worth it for the onion rings in my opinion. We always enjoy the burger and the breakfast as well. read more

I would give them 5 Stars but... I'm a Non-smoker and even though there is another room just for smoking, I can still smell the cigarettes in the nonsmoking room. My boyfriend had the "Sasquatch burger." He said, "it is Not a Myth!" It had everything he liked on it... plus they let him add a Fried Egg which he totally recommends. My girlfriend ordered the smothered chicken half portion. 1 chicken breast with grilled onions, and sautéed mushrooms. She requested no bell peppers and cheddar cheese instead of swiss cheese. Sides for her were mashed potatoes, green beans and side salad. Chicken was great, salad was good, juicy and fresh but the mashed potatoes and green beans were average... nothing special. I had the Chicken Fried Steak with fresh Hand Batter Rings Onion, Green Beans, Texas Toast and a side salad... I really enjoyed it. It was anything "Special" but it was really good. Mom had Patty Melt, she said it was delicious and she Highly recommends it. We will come again. read more
