    Quiche!

So glad we found this cafe! You have to get their homemade quiche! It was delicious! I saw some fancy omelette go by too. The owner was so kind! We were also excited to be able to get an espresso while visiting. They have a full service coffee shop about a half a mile from this location if you need more :)

We stopped in for breakfast and were blown away. The service was friendly and attentive, and the owner personally came by our table a few times to chat. The food was fantastic, hands down the best breakfast we've had in a long time, and we eat at a lot of small-town spots across the state. What really stood out is how much this place is connected to the community. While we were there, a local football team was being interviewed by a sports reporter right inside the restaurant. You can tell the owner cares about more than just serving food. Don't let the location or the building fool you, this is a top-notch cafe that's worth the stop.

Dolli's Diner - A celebrity decided to have lunch at Dollie's today. It was pleased so it didn't eat any body.

We have eaten a Dolli's several times and it is always busy. This visit was no different. However,…read moreservice was marginal. Several apologies later, we finally got our food. I had the BLT with the optional egg and it was okay, nothing to write home about. Coffee was good. Restaurant and toilets were clean and from the sign posted in the men's room, it is highly rated (lol). Nothing like some bathroom humor! We will certainly be back as we are always hopefully that today was an anomaly.

Makes you feel like you're in a Texas country town for sure! My daughter and I were in Nacogdoches for college visit to SFA and we looked this place up in the hopes that we would find something different than a normal chain stop. It certainly is different and was exactly what you might imagine. Everything on the menu is decently priced and it seems that Tuesday is the place to be with short stack specials for $2 along with the weekday breakfast special at $6.95 On of my daughter's favorite meals is chicken fried steak and what better place to try that than a local diner??? Unfortunately it fell below expectations. The portions were quite large, enough that we could have just split a plate. The idea of sausage gravy on top of the mashed potatos and steak sounds heavy but also potentially fantastic. However both the gravy and the fry were quite under seasoned. I was able to fix mine with some cholula sauce and some salt and pepper was a quick fix as well for my daughter. The side of green beans and carrots she got were actually pretty good so perhaps there was just a disconnect in flavor at the meat station this day. I did very much enjoy the side salad I chose instead of the veggie medley. Came with home-made ranch which brought me back to my East Texas family gatherings with the freshly shaken ranch.....it was great. The portion size was pretty fair value at $13. Like I said we could have just split it between us. Very hit or miss flavors leaves this at a 3-stars for me. But no doubt some of the nicest folks in town work here.

That said, if there's a reason o deviate 3 hours from Houston, dinner at this hotel restaurant might just be it! This place is an absolute hidden gem in perhaps the nicest hotel in town. Waitstaff are all friendly and attentive, and the ambience is clown albeit a little old perhaps. That said, the food is the star (as it should be) of this establishment! So much so that we came here two nights in a row not bothering to try anything else....moreover, I ordered the same thing both nights: shrimp and grits, Caesar salad (extra croutons), and an assortment of dessert. I wouldn't normally talk about a side salad, but boy have I never had a crouton as delicious as the ones that accompany the Caesar. It's not JUST a crouton, but in fact, a warmed cornbread crouton that's absolutely exquisite. Such an unassuming thing as a crouton changed my world! I wasn't raised on Cajun style cuisine, but the shrimp and grits had to have been one of, if not, THE best I've ever had. From the rich, creamy lick-your-plate-and-spoon sauce, the delicious garlic roll, to the generous portion of shrimp....its worth eating two nights in a row. And then some. As for the dessert, I don't quite remember the appropriate name, but we ordered both the bread pudding and flan. Bread pudding was a perfect sweet end to our meal and easily shared with a table of four. The flan was a rather interesting cheesecake consistency that I personally loved, but might not be for everyone. If there's something I'll remember forever about Nacogdoches, it'll be this restaurant!

Nothing over the top, but well maintained and easy to relax in after being out all day. The property itself felt lively but not overwhelming. Parking was easy and getting around was simple, which made the whole stay smooth. Location is convenient if you're in the Shreveport area. Staff was friendly and helpful the whole time, from check in to check out. Overall, it felt like a good value for what you get. I'd definitely stay here again.

The last review was a year ago and would like to reflect on what happened since I last gave them a…read more5 star review and now it dropped to a 3 star review now and some tips. This is feedback and I want them to improve. Starting from last year, when my host Nick Nicholson left and then my other host Adam Canales to another casino, things started to go down the hill. They would send me emails about the upcoming events, send me offers to come and play and when I come into town they would meet me on the floor and ask me if I ate. I left like a VIP and then I ended up play more and continuing to go to the next tier. When I told them I was taking a break from the casino as I would go onto a losing streak, they would say no problem. After Adam left and Monica called filled in, my biggest regret was not asking her if she can be my host and instead gambled with the replacement. I met my current host and he booked my room right away, but after that things went down the hill. When I asked to book a room through email or cell, I usually do not get a response and I remember one time I did not hear from him so I ended up booking a room at the Horseshoe and the day of, he finally emailed me back and said my room has been booked. It was a good thing I was going since I needed to pick up my gift which was held in his office and he did give me my VIP parking which is a plus. Now if I really want to stay at Sam's Town and go to a VIP event, I just ask Sharon for help. I know I do not get the suite's, but at least I get a response. Sometimes I would ask Monica for help and feel bad asking her as she is not my designated host. Monica is definitely one of the best casino hosts out there and truly deserved that award for most hospitable as she does take care of you. I hate dealt with Raven before and she helped me out too with food credit. Room wise, unfortunately, I had the bad luck with them especially with the Magnolia suites. Yes they are outdated, but I do like the size. Sometimes the drainage is horrible and you can be in a flood. I remember one time they forgot the shower curtain on there and since I was staying one night I did not bother. There was also a time where they forgot to clean the toilet and there was a feces in there. The people downstairs were nice to give me another room. Gaming wise It is usually the same experience here, I either do well here or poorly. I do like playing here as the security and staff are friendly. I did not get as many hand pays as I did last year, but I can say I did hit my biggest jackpot of 4800 at the double triple diamond. They do update their games to some of the latest ones even though they are a small casino, it is fun. Overall I still enjoy going here and I know the odds are against me losing and as long as I have a good time that is all that counts. However, I am better off just asking Sharon to just add me to the VIP events and book my rooms or just do it online. I used to play at Bally's quite a bit and got to the 2nd best tier until the service ended up being terrible and I ended up focusing on playing at the Horseshoe and Sam's Town. I might give Margaritaville and Boomtown another chance as I hardly got to experience playing as I usually played a couple of a hundred here and there.
