Picture doesn't do it justice but literally the chicken is black from being burnt.

I called in an order for chicken, once I got home, realized it was burnt. They did me wrong for this one

BBQ ribs. mustard greens, Mac and cheese. All excellent. Brisket was good too.

Everyone's experience will be different due to individual taste, timing, and other factors. My experience was AWESOME!!! Even I'm skeptical that my next visit will be the same. Everything, and I mean everything was some of the best I've had. The pictures will speak for themselves. Meat was tender, juicy, and very tasty. Peach pie was stupid good. Mac and Cheese... Awesome. I even had the Mustard greens which I've only had a few times and they were really good. I tell everybody that that place on that day was my best BBQ experience ever because of the Meat and every side absolutely nailed it!! Do I suggest the place?..... I tell people in Oregon to go there...so Yes!! Use your eyes for the sides and talk to the friendly staff. Get the freshly made sides. The meat will be good no matter what you get...

A fantastic step out of the dull drums of an endless drive into a fantasy world of eclectic "stuff"! What a cool place to stop for a rest of the road weary. First the gas is competitively priced for the area... no out of line pricing or tricks. There are quit a few pumps so even as busy as it was both my wife and I found open pumps. The area is very well lit and clean too. Then you walk inside! On the store side there is a true menagerie of merchandise, snacks, drinks, interesting finds, and just flat of things that normal "quick" stops just don't have. It is easy to spend way more time then you thought you ever would just looking around in here. It is also easy to spend more then you intended once you see all you can get and the odd finds. They also have a Jerky bar... with bunches of selection. The other side offers several sit down or take a way food options as well. Lots of choices for the hungry and needy road warrior. The whole location was clean, well staffed, friendly and just top notch! A GREAT unexpected stop that we will sure stop at again when we are back this way.

It's hard to find beef ribs around at barbecue places but saw they had them here and that's what I came for. Wouldn't have normally tried it as it's like a gas station passing by, but it was actually pretty nice regardless and the beef rib certainly did not disappoint.

Brisket, sausage, ribs, baked beans, and collard greens! So good!

Very good food! I discovered this interstate gem right at 6 years ago when going on a business trip to Dallas. Just by chance I pulled off the interstate, truly because my bladder was about to bust, and stumbled on this establishment. I'm a bar b que fanatic and smelled the awesomeness as soon as I went through the door. The whole place is cool. There's a sonic and nice convenient store all in one. The bathrooms are nice as well. I didn't eat at this time, but made a mental note to stop here on my return from Dallas on Sunday. Yes, they're open Sunday, most bar b que places are not. Well worth the trip. Delicious and very nice portions. It's a little pricey, everything is these days, but because it's as good as it is, worth it. I got the triple meat box with two sides and had enough for two meals, and I'm a big ole boy! If in the area I encourage you to give it a try, you'll be glad you did.

Coming back from out of town and wanted some BBQ Brisket. Let me begin by saying that this is the worst and most driest brisket I have ever had. Make sure to pick up a drink. Overall not worth the price for the brisket sandwich that was dry. Definitely get your BBQ somewhere else.

We have eaten the Texas Cow Pattie here a couple of times. A to-go box covered on the bottom with chili cheese fritos then layered on top with cheese, jalapeños, brisket meat, sausage chunks, beans....and we added sour cream. This was delicious and we got it because the guy in line in front of us told us to try it. They have a plate lunch type line too with vegetables and meats and daily specials. There is a Sonic at the end as well. Beef Jerky, Fried Pies, etc.......a lot of food scattered around in here.

It was Tuesday afternoon and there was no line but they were sold out of turkey. Very interesting...... The decor was great with really cool bbq themed posters and guitars. The restrooms were very clean. They do not brew their own tea and have waters, bottled teas and sodas in a cooler. We ordered a pound of brisket and 16 oz container each of the brisket mexican street corn and the charro beans. Please do not employ the salt shaker and in fact, keep any salt granules WAY FAR AWAY from your food items. It is perfectly seasoned and does not need it, OK? Maybe a little ice water to have with your cue would be a good idea! I thought the brisket and the sides we tried were some of the finest I have ever had and I was admittedly a little sad to see it dwindle away over the next day or two in the refrigerator. I think I need some more of that perfect elote, charro bean, brisket goodness, dog gonnit!!!!! That nagging feeling I get about the turkey selling out so quickly......should I have that on our next visit? I think so.

If I have to take a trek back to Longview again, it's probably to go back to Sunbird. As I journey…read morefor another Texas Monthly stamp, I drove from the sister city of Tyler into Longview to try the new brainchild of former Bodacious Bar-B-Q employees. As we got to Sunbird just around 10:30, there was a small but excited line ahead of us. We met a guy right behind us who was from Pittsburgh but would fly in multiple times throughout the year to journey through Texas and hit all the different spots to get stamps. We had a great conversation about food, and he got a picture with us on his phone. What a sweet guy! By 11, we were let inside and the line moved pretty typically for a barbecue joint. I tried to order their Dr. Pepper pork belly burnt ends, but the first guy in line came in and ordered all of their stock, sitting and eating some while telling a guy next to him he was going to freeze them all to save. Jerk. I'll list everything I had and my thoughts: Brisket: A beautifully long slab of meat. It's slightly smoky and full of flavor. Pork ribs: I feel like we got skimped a little bit on our ribs compared to my friend, who got a lot more on the same order, but they were very good and sweet as well. Sausage: Their house sausage had the right amount of spice to it, and the small slices were nice to throw onto some of the bread and chow down on. Street corn: Holy hell, their corn is next level. A perfect heat in the spice department mixed with the cheese. Really special. Mac and cheese: Only available on Fridays and Saturdays, their mac and cheese is a delight. I ate all of it with nothing left to save. It's creamy, cheesy, and absolutely heavenly. Go on Friday or Saturday just for this mac and cheese. On par with some of the best. Maybe second to La Barbecue as the best macaroni. Charro beans: A nice spice and flavor to them. Feels like a perfect East Texas bean. As we were finishing up, they had already come down to their last pound of brisket as the line was thinning out. Their Saturday stock was probably a little less than I anticipated, but it's nice to see a community and plenty of travelers come out to give them a shot. They are list-worthy. They might have the case for some of the best food in Longview. The prices here are so much more affordable compared to Austin. I paid $39 for a pound of brisket a few weekends ago, so I was very happy to see it's $27 here in Longview. I love smaller Texas cities!! RIYL: Affordably incredible barbecue

What's is the odds that we both became very sick with in minutes of each other with no prior symptoms. And, it's the only place we ate at yesterday. We always share the porterhouse steak and add an extra salad and potato; have for years. Not because we are cheap, it's because we both like the porterhouse and otherwise it would be too much food for the two of us. The steak came out and it was undercooked, and they only brought 2/3 of the order. We shared the steak, mushrooms and bread, and became awfully sick an hour later. Are the internet stories true about food tampering when the kitchen is pissed at you? Was is more widespread like hygiene or food quality? Who knows, but we won't be eating here any longer. I stoped at the restroom before our 45 minute drive home and by the looks of that restroom it could have easily been a hygiene issue. I wonder how many people got sick last night after eating here or what the statistics are over a year time period. Regardless, this is our unfortunate experience after spending hard earned money at this filthy place.
