I'll start by saying the dinner we ordered tasted great - my husband's fried fish and shrimp was so good that he actually finished his dinner before me (which never happens - ever). We had a few issues with our take-out order, though, and were disappointed to get home, open the bag, and find things missing from our order... not to worry, because Jamie heard our hungry complaints and went above and beyond to make things right. Knowing that she is running our local Longview restaurant is enough to keep us coming back with appetites aplenty. The Cotton Patch was once a great 'home cooking' type of restaurant. Not sure if cost demands, or tired management, or just corporate interest are somewhere else. Only had one problem and that was with the hostess who tried to squeeze our party of four into a tiny table. The restaurant was pretty much empty because it was during lunch. The two people before us were given a nice big giant table and the single Diner that came in just after us also got a big giant table with no problems. After this interaction and getting a normal size table to use the celebration started. Appetizers and entrees were ordered along with the drinks and everything was delicious. I wish this restaurant provided appetizer combos like all the other restaurants do but unfortunately they don't and you're forced to order each appetizer individually. So that's what we did fried pickles, fried green tomatoes and chicken fried bacon were ordered and devoured by our group. For main entrees we had grilled chicken salad, brisket quesadillas, and 2 chicken fried steak meals. Grilled chicken salad was served with balsamic vinaigrette which was absolutely amazing. Brisket quesadilla came with salsa and sour cream and with equally as amazing as chicken salad. Great food, , Affordable Prices and Friendly Service. Everyone and I do mean everyone that you encounter when visiting this restaurant is friendly. I love how the kitchen area is open and everything is cooked when ordered. The dining area is always clean and cool. It's obvious a lot of effort goes into keeping the guest spaced out to ensure comfort. We enjoyed the fried fish, onion rings, broccoli and cheese casserole and macaroni and cheese. I got the Cobb salad with avocado delivered. They packaged it upside down so it was all over the place when I opened it. They gave me a half of an avocado without slicing it and it was spoiled so I had to toss it out. The grilled chicken on top is super dry and really salty and some of the lettuce is wilted and wet before I even put the dressing on it. I had high hopes and after spending $11.00 on this salad I had to throw it away it was way too salty. Hopefully others have a better experience. I was contacted by management that stated they would pay for a dinner for two to make matters better. I thought this was a kind gesture as I expressed not wanting to spend anymore money here after throwing away my last meal. After driving 10 mins to get my free meal I arrived and was given a coupon for a buy one get one free. The service was decent in the respect that our server had not tried a lot of the items on the menu, so couldn't recommend substitutions for the options unavailable. My first time ever trying Cotton Patch was pretty good. My husband and I got the chicken fried bacon for an appetizer. In my opinion it was too much breading and the bacon was underdone. I think I would have just preferred a plate of thick, crispy bacon. The complimentary dinner rolls were delicious. I had the sirloin with a loaded baked potato and I really enjoyed it. My first meal in Texas I was disappointed. We fried pickles as a appetizer ok. We had side salads and country fried steak. It was tough and very underwhelming coming from southern Georgia restaurants. The veggie sides where food and the broccoli rice casserole was good. Best part of the meal was the side salad. This place beats the pants off Cracker Barrel by a long shot! I had lunch here today and the food was so good. Southern food is my jam and I was STOKED to see black eyed peas on the menu. I got the chicken fried chicken, green beans, black eyed peas, and a cup of chicken and dumplings. The lunch portion of chicken fried chicken (which I had) was the perfect size. The jalapeño cream gravy was actually spicy and the green beans and black eyed peas were cooked perfectly and seasoned well. I liked the chicken and dumplings after I added salt and pepper, but it definitely needed a little seasoning to be good. I'd come here again for sure! Two of us ate for under $30. As of this review, the Cotton Patch Cafe currently holds a 3.4 out of 5 rating, and I would genuinely concur with that assessment. It was almost $15 for a chicken fried chicken, mashed potatoes, and fried okra, which I think is a bit overpriced. Further complicating the matter was that they initially brought out the junior size portion, instead of the regular sized portion that I had ordered. Once receiving the correct order, I pursued further. The meat and the potatoes were generally acceptable. The chicken was juicy and had a good crust on it. The mashed potatoes had a rustic texture with skins in, which I liked, and the cream gravy did it's job. But the okra had a paper thin breading that tasted as if it was prepackaged, and that is disappointing when you're paying that price for what I received. The rolls were good though, and slightly reminded me of Texas Roadhouse rolls or another commercial steakhouse styled roll. Overall, it was just good enough for Southern style food. I just have other restaurants that I prefer. read more

I've had it with Cotton Patch. I enjoy their food but since the price increase combined with ridiculously lousy service, I'm out. I ordered in person at the front desk around 3:45pm last week a dinner to go. I told her I wanted chicken fried steak, broccoli rice casserole, squash casserole and an ice tea. I asked her if they had key lime pie, she said yes and I said I'd take a piece. She rang it up and said it was $17.00. I paid and sat down to wait. Other girl brought my bag to the counter and asked if I had gotten my tea and I says no. While she went to get my tea I looked in the bag and saw only one container for my dinner, no pie. I told her there was supposed to a piece of key lime pie. She said it wasn't on the ticket to which I replied it was $17.00! She said $13 fir the dinner and $3 for the tea plus tax was $17 . I told her to go ahead and give me the pie. She rang it up and said it'd be $6.50 ! I told her that was ridiculous and I could buy an entire pie for $5 at the store. But wait ---- it actually got worse. I got home and opened my dinner box to find chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes that I didn't order and squash casserole. So I paid $17 for something I didn't even want. And the cf steak was grissly .......... I'M DONE There weren't 10 people in the whole restaurant. I know Covid has hurt business but this just old fashioned paying attention to what you're doing skills. And this bs of raising prices so dang high they're ridiculous is not COVID. Do yourself a favor an$ if the price isn't commensurate with the product, walk away. Boycott BS and basic highway robbery. read more

Very disappointed in service here. Ordered curbside pickup, and arrived, waited til the expected time for pickup and notified them that i had arrived. They let me know they would be out soon with my food. A few moments later someone came to tell me that they did not have one of the meals. Around 30 minutes from start to finish, and not until I had arrived, notified them, then waited did they let me know that they did not have the meal I requested. They collected my number at the time of the order and could have let me know before I came and possibly given me an opportunity to decide on a replacement for what I needed. We ate here yesterday evening. Our server was "V" and she was outstanding! Friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and always there when a glass needed refilling. The food (CFS) was delicious, hot, and plentiful! The rolls were great. And, as opposed to some other restaurants, the appetizer was served early enough to give us time to enjoy, BEFORE the meal was served! I want to start this review by saying Sam was the nicest server I've ever had and I really enjoyed his conversation!! , however he was also the most forgetful. We sat down and nearly 10 minutes later he came to ask for drinks and we ordered an order of chips with queso and salsa. The queso was grainy and we didn't receive the salsa until after our entrees were at the table. Speaking of entrees we sat for over an hour after ordering before we got them, and multiple things were wrong. My patty melt had Mayo when I asked for none, I got fries instead of the salad, and my daughters strawberries looked like the kind you get in a pie filling bag. We asked for a second round of rolls 5 or 6 times but never received them and overall just had a horrible experience. We are currently still sat here waiting for take out boxes and the check because it's so late that we need to get my daughter home. As usual they messed up my to go order, I ordered a chicken fried chicken sandwich with a bun and I emphatically said my wife does not like Texas toast but I get home and her sandwich had Texas toast and was a CFS. We were in town for a doctors appointment, when that finished we were hungry. We had driven past this restaurant many times in the past and decided now would be a good time to try it. The wife ordered the hamburger while I tried the chicken off of the lunch insert in the menu. Both items were very good, the price was good and the service was exceptional. I had used the wait list feature online but at 11:30 it was not necessary. The restaurant had many other patrons but no wait to be seated. We will definitely be going back for more. read more

Unfortunately this place really went down hill. Food was not good. Ordered Cajun duo with broc and baked squash, it was not good. I WISH there was a Cotton Patch Cafe near me in California. Oh I wish I wish. This place is sooo yummy. I first fell in love with their biscuits (which is basically a chunk of butter mixed with a little bit of flour - yumyumyum) and then their chicken fried steak. Last time I went, I got chicken and dumplings (tasty and filling) and cajun spiced shrimp and tilapia (also tasty). Their sides are really good. Cinnamon apples, mac and cheese, broccoli, etc. The menu is pretty big. I haven't had the opportunity to try very much of it, but it all looks very good (including the desserts). Everyone I've gone with has enjoyed their meal, and I've gone with some pretty big parties before. We're all fans. :) It's good for a small party or a large group. Service is friendly and prompt. It looks a little corporate, not sure if it is, but it's run like a well oiled machine. Every time I'm in town, I end up going 2-3 times with my family. The Cotton Patch is a big reason why I always rave to my friends at home about the food in Texas. Last time I was there they had a bunch of smaller portioned lunch specials (the previously mentioned chicken and dumplings was one of them, and I couldn't finish it haha), which is a nice option, because this food is delicious, huge, and BUTTERY. Aka fattening. But whatever. Portion it, take some home for a second meal, and enjoy the tastinessss.
