One of my favorite, go-to restaurants for good southern comfort food. I love the chicken fried steak!

We keep trying to go back here in hopes it will be what it once was. I will start and say our waiter was very nice and our food was good. However, the Lobby was nasty dirty, there were maybe 6 other tables sat and it took 45 minutes for us to get our food. Our salads came with our food not prior too. Also we are not fearful of Covid but if you are supposed to wear masks wear them right, not on your chin or half of your face. If you don't want to wear them that's fine too but take them off. The bathrooms were a mess as well. We probably wouldn't go back except the food is almost always good. We will maybe try again in a couple months. I sure hope they get it worked out. Like I said our waiter was very nice but by watching the servers I am not certain they are all being trained properly. It is okay to write drink orders down so you don't have to make them more than once. read more

Cotton Patch use to be a great place to go but it's really gone downhill. We went there tonight (husband, me, adult son, elderly FIL) and while the food was ok, the service and cleanliness was concerning. We were there from 6:15-7:45. There were several tables around us that needed bussing. It's a bit unappetizing seeing dirty plates and half empty cups littering the space around you. The restaurant was not at all busy so I don't know why the tables were not cleaned. There were two separate families with screaming toddlers. I know the restaurant cannot control this but jeepers! When my kids were toddlers, we would pack up our food and go if they started having meltdowns as we didn't want to ruin the other diners' experiences. One family was even letting their toddler WALK on top of the table barefoot . Our waitress was rushing us when we first arrived. She got my drink order wrong....no big deal. Food came out pretty quickly and was fine but nothing special. My FIL had to ask twice for his water with lemons. Then we noticed that my husband's glass had a crack in it. He let the waitress know and he asked for another glass of water in an UNcracked cup. She never brought it so I shared my drink with him. When she finally returned to the table, my husband had to ask again for a glass of water but in a to go cup. She brought it out and began clearing the table. We were at a 4 top; she was standing directly across from me and told me to pass my empty salad bowl to her which I thought was a little rude. Again, the food was fine and I enjoyed my salad but the atmosphere, all the dirty tables, and the attitude kind of spoiled it. I'm sure we will go again at some point but it definitely won't be on a Sunday night! read more

This place used to be decent with plenty of reliable menu choices, a clean and welcoming atmosphere, and good service. A few years ago it started going downhill and we stopped going. With many restaurants closed for Easter, we ended up here with our group of 8 for a family birthday dinner because there are only so many options in town for larger groups. It wasn't busy at all when we arrived but it took 10 minutes to get a table together and once seated it was evident that it wasn't cleaned as they were putting it together. At least one seat was full of large cornbread crumbs and the table didn't look like it had been wiped down. We got our drink orders in. They were out of rolls so that took about 10 minutes. No big deal. Drinks came out about half wrong. Got those sorted out. One of our kids' glasses was filthy so we had to send it back. After we had waited about 15 minutes for our food, my brother was told that they were out of what he ordered, so he made a new selection. More extra time. Finally after a little longer some some the orders started coming out. Sort of. Several orders were missing sides. My husband's was nonexistent. My dad ordered chicken and dumplings and there was almost no chicken in it. The missing sides finally came as we were about half done eating. My husband's food was still not out. We were all mostly done eating by the time his arrived. After almost an hour and a half, we got the check. We were double charged for every drink. We were charged for the original item my brother ordered but never received along with the replacement order. They did comp my husband's without our requesting it, so that was nice. I had to go sort out the charges and it ended up being about $20 that they had to refund. That's a lot of money to me. Everyone in our group really tried to brush it all off and just go with the flow, but it will be a very long time before we darken the doors of this place again. The server was nice but who knows how tired if they were busy earlier in the day. We gave her the benefit of the doubt. The guy who helped sort out or ticket was very nice and apologized for the trouble. Overall the food was pretty decent, but the issues we had made me concerned about the overall operation and even the cleanliness in the back. I was very leery of everything after seeing that drink glass and how our table wasn't cleaned. I hope they can see that they need to work on some things. We used to love coming here with our kids and older family members as there are lots of good choices for everyone. read more

Today I experience a winner dish at our local Cotton Patch: Chicken Fried Tacos. Three of these make for a bigger meal than what you might expect. The great taste combines chicken strips, pico, lettuce and a delicious queso sauce. If you know what a "Trailer Park" is then you have a little bit of an idea of what the Cotton Patch has created here. It's been close to 6 months since our first, last, and only visit to cotton patch cafe. It was such a horrible experience that it took me this long to finally "digest" how awful the food and our server were. Everything on the menu is deep fried and it is clear the fry oil is old and unfiltered. But let's get to the star of the show. Our waitress repeatedly hit on my boyfriend in front of me and clearly could not pick up on normal social cues when she was told to piss off and ignored. Trashy, disgusting food with trashy, disgusting waitress who overstepped boundaries. If the manager offered me a gift card I would sell it on Let Go. read more

Served with ice cold "steamed" broccolli and cold mashed poatatoes. grilled salmon was OK, but why were "steamed " veggies served ice-cold? we were told the CFS dinner would be taken off the bill, but it wasn't. Visiting for the weekend from out of town, we found this place to be convenient for lunch. Liked that we got seated quickly even though our whole party wasn't there yet. Service got a bit sloppy after that having our orders messed up a bit and our waitress taking too much time to come back to our table to check on us. I got the pork chops, green beans and mashed potatoes. They all had one thing in common, pepper! The food was all covered in pepper so much so it made my mouth burn after a while (and I'm Mexican and love spicy food!). The dirty floors stood out a lot. read more

The 2 star rating for this cafe is for cleanliness. The food was good, the waiter was pleasant but the place needs a good old deep cleaning. The floor looked like it hasn't been swept in weeks and the ladies room was very dirty. One of the stalls was out of order and had water on the floor and another one wouldn't close so you could lock it. Paper towels on the floor, etc. besides that, the dryers were out of order which cut out half of the menu. We ordered salad and chicken and dumplings which should have taken no time at all but waited about 20 minutes to be served-too bad, we like Cotton Patch but we'll not try this one again. Went here for lunch today with some coworkers and I must say I was impressed! We were seated very quickly and we got our food within 10 mins of ordering. Everything was clean, our waitress was attentive, and the food was great! I had the grilled Cajun duo(tilapia and shrimp on a bed of rice) with broccoli and a cup of chicken tortilla soup. Yummy!!! Great service... Very friendly staff. We ordered cornbread about the time we were getting our food and it was going to take a little while to get it. The staff went over the top top make sure we were comfortable with this. We really weren't expecting anything but they comped the cornbread and gave us complimentary dessert. I ordered food to go on Monday afternoon for my elderly clients. I ordered over the phone at 6:40 and arrived to pick the order up at 7:00. I stood at the to go order counter and wasn't helped for 15 mins. All of the staff was hanging out and laughing. My order wasn't ready until 7:35. Service wasn't what it normally is and the food was mediocre. read more

Had my mother's 91st birthday party there this evening like we have for the last ten years and this was the worse expierence ever, we had reserved for 25 people and it took over two hours for everyone to get their food, then the food wasn't very good, this will be the last birthday party that we will have for anyone at the cotton patch in Longview Texas especially our mother! read more

The Cotton Patch, an East Texas institution, the place we'd go after a winning game or on a first date, is all grown up and has spread all over Texas. I'm happy for them but more than anything pleasantly surprised that this old location is still doing great. I've seen enough places grow big and lose their charm but this spot is doing just fine. The recipes are still good ole Southern delights. They've even started doing small portions on request. Decided I wanted something different. Ordered online about 5:30 and it said that it would be ready at 5:50. Arrived at 5:50 and the food was not ready. Finally at 6:30 we got our order and went to the car. Child's burger was barely warm. At that point I was not going back. Food tasted fine but in no way should it have taken that long. We got a child's burger, fruit, black eyed peas, chicken and dumplings, and broccoli cheese casserole. Will not order again. Makes it hard when you have a young child with you. We stumbled upon this restaurant while looking for fast food in Longview. I told my wife that from the outside it looked like a place that might have chicken fried steak (one of her favorites). I was right. We both ordered it with an assortment of sides. It was all wonderful. Green beans, garlic mashed potatoes, baked squash, broccoli rice casserole, large wheat rolls, and cornbread. Cotton Patch used to have really good Chicken Spaghetti. I ordered today to go and waited 10 additional minutes after it was supposed to have been ready and it was the absolute worst waste of my time and money. The chicken spaghetti was so runny it was like eating chicken soup with a few pieces of chicken, full of tomato and cheese juice. So bad that it ran out of the container into the bag and on my car seat. Absolute worst meal ever of the few bites that I took. Wasted $10.00 and my lunch break on something not fit to eat. Four of us have been eating here regularly. Always good food. Matthew was an attentive server. When we arrived on 2/27/20, we were all disappointed to hear that management decided to stop serving the cornmeal muffins as a regular part of every meal. This was one of the reasons we select this restaurant often, and will influence our future selection. read more

When we first went in about 1145 they asked us (myself and husband) if we wanted a booth or table, we said booth, they took us to one of the large ones that will seat 6-8, we had to ask for a regular size booth (they were all emepty) THEN a guy with tatoos and ear hoops, mohawk came to take our order, his appearance did nothing for ones appatite (I could have let that go) THEN I opened my silverware and it was filthy. Not just a little speck, so I opened my husbands and it was the same. We got up and left, told them to cancel our order we would not eat where the silverware was filthy. read more

This is a great place if you want a menu with lots of choices. Their salads are excellant as are their vegetables. I don't think we have eaten anything there that we did not like. My wife loves the Rabbit Platter which is a salad and three vegetables. They also have great soups and desserts. The place is always clean and the wait staff always attentive. read more

Could be one of the best restaurants in Longview. Staff needs to work together as a team. Management is the biggest problem they have. No oversight to ensure correct food orders. Not the only one who waited over 30 minutes to pick up a to go order on 06/08/19. Payment system went down and management vanished, glad I could pay cash or I would not have received cold food, items missing and a long wait. This has to be one of the worst restaurants in Longview for service. The food is good, but the service absolutely sucks and evidently no one cares. I've tried over and over to give them chances and it gets worse every time. I've let management know about it and they say what they think you want to hear, but nothing changes. Customer service is HORRIBLE. When these people have no jobs and/or get no tips because of management and their attitudes it might change, but I doubt it. The people they have hired think they are privileged and could care less about any one but themselves. They ignore you and act like you are shit on the floor that they can step on and they don't have to do anything for customer services. I haven't seen many complaints about the food, but I've seen and heard many about the service. The lobby today was full of talk. One lady waited over 40 minutes for her order and then they didn't give her the drink - she had to ask for it and she had to be at work 20 miles from there in 2 minutes. I assured her I'd let management know - not that they really care. I'm so tired of people thinking they are owed something and not having a clue what customer service is. In the service industry customer service is where your tips come from. I wouldn't give a penny tip at this location - the management can pull it out of their pockets and maybe then something will get done. I will not pay to be treated like a lower class citizens. I'm hoping I can leave it at 0 starts but I'm betting I have to put 1 which is crap because I would put negative 5 if I could. This isn't anything new - this place has been going downhill for the last few years. Also you better remember to ask for eating utensils because they certainly are NOT going to include them. I haven't been to Cotton Patch in two years. It's better than I remember? Yes, that question mark is intentional. I ordered the veggie plate which, in my opinion, is easy to do poorly. Specifically I had green beans, corn, fried okra, mashed potatoes, and black eyed peas. My complaint would be, to me, the peas were slightly oversalted. We had good service. My kids ate their meals - chicken tenders and mac & cheese. This is also quite a testament. So to answer my previous question, I think I had forgotten Cotton Patch was this good. read more

This was our first visit here. We ordered 3 appetizers/sides/deserts for a fun beginning. The strawberry shortcake was great. A sweet biscuit, with strawberries, cream and glaze. The queso and chips, some of the best we've ever tasted. However the breading on the okra was tough and served cold. The entrées arrived and the meal went downhill from there. Sweet potatoes fries were served with a cinnamon, brown sugar glaze better reserved for a coffee cake. The catfish platter held two dried out pieces, served with cold fries and withered shrimp. The kids cheeseburger arrived looking flat and greasy, when our son refused to eat it, one taste told me why. The patty seemed to taste mostly of soy and paste. The chicken fried chicken was covered with what tasted like canned gravy and the mashed potatoes were served chilled...an unexpected taste to say the least. All in all it was a dismal experience and with a bill at just under $70.00 (before tax and tip) it's not one that this family is ever likely to repeat. read more
