I mean...how else do you start Highland's parade day!? The perfect place for food and drinks while you get ready for the SBC's biggest parade! Service lines still need a bit of work for this event (tickets versus card, not my favorite). The food I ate was very tasty, and the newly designed spaced is so welcoming and quintessential Shreveport. I love Marilynn's - I'll always be back.

Beignets are the bomb!

Awesome location not far from the casinos. This place serves large portions. So damn good. Staff and owner very nice and informative. Setting is an old gas station parking kinda tight but plenty of parking next door. Definitely worth a try

Another tasty visit! This was Sunday brunch. Service was great on our way through, quick & friendly service. We've never seen it not busy! Hit the spot on a "chilly" August day.

Do I feel morally conflicted about giving a place a five star rating when I spent the afternoon hugging a toilet? Yep! But I'm gonna do it anyway and here's why-- Bottomless mimosas!! On my second trip to the bar the bartender suggested just converting to a bottomless mimosa. I which point I should've said no, but there's a first time for everything and this Sunday morning brunch was that day. The food was phenomenal! My boyfriend's chicken biscuit was the perfect blend of spice and honey-sweet. Chicken was fried well, still juicy. My sausage gravy biscuit was fantastic as well. We tried the beignets and French toast that our friends got, those were also really good. This remodel has been amazing for this place. Very clean, great service. Seriously, no complaints. Just thankful I had a ride home.

1/2 Cobb Salad and 1/2 Debris Poboy

This place is awesome! It is the cutest restaurant, and every little detail is absolutely adorable. The service was excellent--everyone was warm, welcoming, and genuinely helpful. The food was beyond amazing. My husband had the debris po'boy, and I had a half Cobb salad and a half debris po'boy. As someone from South Louisiana, I know good food, and the flavor of the roast beef was indescribable. I make a delicious roast beef myself, but it doesn't even compare! The Cobb salad was recommended by the staff, and they did not steer me wrong. The smoked turkey was incredibly flavorful and absolutely delicious. We will definitely be back!

My wife w beans and rice

Always great, I had the daily special. A pasta dish w crawfish and just the right amount of heat. My wife had the beans and rice, which she love. The staff is so nice!!! Topped odd w the great bread pudding. When ever we drive through Shreveport, we try to stop.

My friend & I went here for a late lunch on Saturday. I got a combo with gumbo and crawfish etoufee, she got a combo with gumbo & a brisket sandwich cuz they ran out of the burger she wanted, and because they were out of the pepperjack Mac n cheese, we split a large order of sweet potato fries. The food was very good, and the staff were friendly. I'll definitely be back to try the pork with pineapple salsa & their Mac n cheese.

I was very disappointed with my order. On first glance the food looks good, but lacks seasoning and flavor. The best part of the meal was the table hot sauce, and without it, I would not have been able to stomach the food. Service was okay, but was slow at times. Ambiance could use some work, as the vibes were off. I ended up leaving hungry and did not ask for a box for my leftovers. Thankfully, there was a great bakery next door, so I was able to go to Lowders and get a much better option to meet my hunger needs.

Boudin POBOY

Staff is super friendly. Food is amazing. The atmosphere was great! We went for a lunch date. My husband got the roast beef poboy, I got the boudin poboy, and we shared some boudin egg rolls. The portions were so big that we had to take the rest home with us. We sat outside under the awning, they had fans going, and it was a beautiful day.

It's truly laid back I enjoy the owner is on the scene Kudos for AYCD but more drink options are needed. I don't care for vodka and definitely don't want a bloody Mary but some tequila based would be nice. Either way, they pour heavy which I appreciate given this is Louisiana but I would recommend for drinks and a new experience. What works: 1) my folks said "that's good coffee" 2) good value for group dining. 3) all you can drink (AYCD) 4) their cordial and cheery service from the kitchen, back of house, to the front of house (cashier and drink maker). Most things appeared to be heat and eat. I should've asked for more cream cheese. I didn't. Smoked salmon was flavorful. My dining party had shrimp and grits but no mention it'd be a red sauce or "Creole style." I might be the one Southener that doesn't eat grits but I know plenty that won't touch seafood in red sauce so yeah that disclaimer is needed. I can't recommend those chicken and waffles because it's just prepacked strips and frozen waffles but the Belgian style with the ball of sugar in them. Cleaning is needed in between parties. I enjoyed the staff and service more than the food. They played great music, old school R&B, THEY had good jokes and answered all our questions without attitude but it was super laid back they let me grab my food when I saw it came up. I will return to try the regular menu as it's brunch only on Sunday.

Combo with fried remoulade shrimp and seafood gumbo. So good!

Can you sit at the bar area to eat/drink?

There's really not a typical bar to sit at and eat. There is sitting in the area where the bar is located and there is sitting outside in good weather.

Are dogs allowed on the patio?

Yes!

The parking lot is a mess. The employees are rude. But the most unbelievable part is that they somehow make it difficult to order food that is actually listed on their own menu. If I want 12 stuffed shrimp, I should be able to order 12 stuffed shrimp. Simple. Instead, I am told to buy the 3-shrimp plate four times because management refuses to sell customers the quantity they want. That is not customer service. That is nonsense. When I asked for half a dozen stuffed shrimp, I was told I would need to purchase two separate $20 meals for a total of $40. Yet the menu clearly lists a half-dozen order for $32. Why should I pay an extra $8 for food I never asked for and do not want? The entire situation is ridiculous. I am sick and tired of excuses, confusion, and incompetence. This establishment has fallen so far from the reputation built by F&H and Pete Harris that it is almost unrecognizable. I am done with this place permanently. Until they fix their customer service, their ordering process, and their overall attitude toward customers, people should spend their money elsewhere. This restaurant should be embarrassed by what it has become.

The inside is a mix of old timey and funky with lots of creative murals painted on the walls. We quickly received our drinks and ordered. Our waitress was outstanding but I didn't get her name. Our food was soon there and we dug in. My chicken fried steak was good but the mashed potatoes and cornbread were the stars. I'm not a big fan of salad or green beans but they were pretty good for vegetation. My wife enjoyed her catfish basket. She prefers cornmeal on catfish over flour breading and was pleased with the crispy cornmeal and the generous portion. Now for the main event. Pie! Strawn's is known for their strawberry pie and for good reason. It was the best strawberry pie that I have ever eaten. The whipped cream topping was transcendent and paired perfectly with the strawberries. My photo does not do this pie justice. My wife went with coconut pie and while it was very good the strawberry was the winner. Looking forward to returning to Straw's Eat Shop in the future.
