This might be a case of ...relative to.... Came here, asked for the most popular sub which was just chopped beef in cheese, jalapeños, olives and peppers. There were no seafood options which I thought was strange and the bread was not flaky and light as you might expect from a poboy. For my online order to be delivered I ordered the Cajun chef's salad minus black olives . I also ordered the Nathan sandwich minus onions and black olives. Both items were sealed tightly. The take out container for the salad had a strip of tape over the opening . Fresh crisp veggies used . They don't ask you to pull up to wait on another customer you just have sit there and wait. My father-in-law has been a loyal customer of PO-Boy Express since 1989. So my expectations were set high. My husband frequently shares happy memories of the fluffy bread he calls "lake bread" (IYKYK). The anticipation of a lake bread sandwich has been with me for 7 years now. By now you will see I gave it 5 stars, and so yes. Spoiler alert: the wait was worth it, the expectations were met, and the fondness burns in me just as deeply as it burns in my family. The restaurant has been around for a long time (1989, remember?) but it is so well kept! Even the restroom was super clean, bright, and updated. The interior is decked out in LSU swag, and local memorabilia. It's pretty kitschy but still feels open and clean. Did I mention how clean this spot is? Don't be detoured by it's less than glam exterior. Please. We called our order in from the drive thru line. As we approached the window it was just about done. This was a little untraditional but hey, it worked! Of course I got a Cajun Po-boy, it felt wrong to do anything else! I opted for the turkey and at a little over 8 bucks this was a MEAL. This was my first time having a po-boy. I had always thought they were just subs with a skimpy amount of shrimp. Nope. I forgot to google what a proper po-boy is before sharing this review...and I am afraid to ask my husband because I am not in the mood to disappoint him today. It's been a Monday. I am glad that po-boys are more than skimpy shrimp subs. Time to explore the world of a the po-boy. I definitely set the bar high by making my first time here in Shreveport. Personally, I love their gravy the best, its spicy taste is better than all the others. :") The BBQ chicken is sweet and the gravy is spicy. When I dipped the BBQ chicken in the gravy, the taste is just ---- awwwesome! ^_~ I know it sounds like a French Dip but it's the way I devour my po-boy. lol But if you can't handle hot and spicy, don't try. I picked up to-go orders for my office yesterday. They weren't ready when promised, and I had to wait a bit. However, the employees were very friendly and the place was very busy. Three of us got po-boys and one got a salad. I had the turkey ragin Cajun. It was large enough for two meals. A unique sandwich. I loved the olives and the lower fat turkey (versus the regular Cajun). However it was very messy. Don't know if it was cheese or mayo or both. Definitely not the best choice for eating at work! Also very spicy. Lots of jalapeños. I like spice, but even I had to stop and drink water a few times! My co worker couldn't finish hers because of the heat. The person who got the salad said it was ok. It looked good to me because it had tons of olives (she didn't like olives). Will definitely return but will probably try something different. read more

My son and i went there tiday by accident. I told my son look fir greek. He did. We like to try new restaraunts we haven't been to before. Well he took us to athenas. Well we yelped about athenas before. So we nust kept driving. We saw this restaraunt and decided to stop. It us a nice restaraubt. Lots if different sandwhiches. I got a buffalo chicken po boy and potatoe salad small and a pop. I forgot what po boy my son got must have been roast beef because he got a gravey with it. He gad a small potato salad too. He had a pop too. I went up and got another potato aald large this time and my son and i halfed it. Good potatoe salad. There was lots if lsu memorabilia on the walls. It wasn't that expensive for tgat part if shrevport. Lots if the restaraunts on that side if town are a little spendy. The waiteress was nixe. I'd eat there again.
