My BIL lives in Longview and recommended this place. This our 3rd time stopping by on a Sunday morning on our way back home. Normally, we would go quickly by McDs and get the sausage burrito combo meal and hit the road but it's kinda out of our way. This place is right on our way out of town, the sausage, egg & cheese tacos are way better than McDs and the little wait in their drive through doesn't take as much time as driving out of our way to McDs. We have visited several breakfast places for brunches and we always compare to this place . The syrup is a magical elixir! The Breakfast Burrito with Carne - is beyond what a burrito should be ! Another chapter in the Find the Famous French Toast in town! We hit up a suggestion given by google and this place was fun. There was several works of art and decoration based around people famous in music, at our booth we have Stevie Ray Vaughn. They have hanging lightbulbs inside mason jars which was interesting. You order at the counter and are given a number, you get your own drinks and something I have not seen before you refill your own chips and get the salsa yourself and can go back and refill as often or as little as you want. Having the chips sitting in a heating thing means they were not the best but still I get the idea. They do have 4 to 5 different salsa's you can choose from which is unique and helps with the serve yourself. It is all very casual. The tables have a glass top like a cover. Under the glass on the table were lots of notes on paper, napkins, even dollar bills and foreign currency. It was a fun addition and some of the notes were clever, others funny, even some heartfelt ones. We did leave notes as and hope they end up under the glass. I will go over some of them near the end. Of course we were there for breakfast due to looking for French Toast. Shana got the French Toast of course as she is the one searching and loves the Toast of the French! The toast in this case comes out all separate and you put it together, it had eggs and breakfast potatoes. She loved the French Toast but the rest was just okay. I got breakfast tacos with eggs, sausage, and shredded cheese. They were solid but nothing special but still good. One of the notes at our table fit our theme weirdly, it asked if they eat French Toast in France, the reply drawing said no, they just call it Toast. Some cute notes about a Salsa contest on 6/29/2022 there were several others and we took pictures which I will post here. First walking in I noticed it seemed pretty crowded for a small area, but I thought well it has to be super good then, the lady who greeted me was very kind, the food was alright! I asked a gentlemen if we left the plates at the table and had to repeat my question bc they had their earphones in and got a rude "sure" and I was like uhh ok. I can only speak to the breakfast tacos, but they are super solid. Hot, fresh, and the chorizo was spot on and not too greasy like you sometimes find elsewhere. The salsa bar inside is also great, and it looks as if they have solid drink specials. Drive thru can take a moment, but it's made to order so the wait is understandable. Whether it's the cozy, comfortable atmosphere of the casual dining area or the extremely friendly & courteous staff, you're bound to feel at ease and welcome just from walking in the door. Their ample food offerings are on display on their overhead menu when you place your order at the counter. A drink station and chips n' salsa station are readily available while you await your order. Our table ordered four separate orders, but our food was ready and brought out to us in as much time as it took us to get our drink cups filled and ourselves seated. I opted for the meat & egg breakfast tacos. My choice of meat was their carne guisada, and it was excellent; also, they happily met my request for corn tortillas (as opposed to their typical order being flour) as well as 'no cheese.' Still, the filling portions more than filled each of my three tortillas. As for cost, the price for my breakfast with beverage was, in my opinion, very reasonable for what I ordered. My visit to Mi Casita was outstanding, and I would definitely recommend trying it if you are in the area! I will certainly be going back the next opportunity I get. As an aside, before visiting Mi Casita, I requested, via Yelp, a copy of their menu via email. Ran across this little gem by accident. We were looking for a place that evidently closed. So, the wife pointed at Mi Casita. We usually enjoy new places so, we gave it a go. You order at the counter and they bring your food to you. It's self serve for chips and salsa. They had about 4 or 5 salsa choices. All of which were tasty. I never realized how good food tastes in California and couldn't understand why friends who moved out of state and came back to visit always wanted to go out to restaurants to eat. They would say to me you just don't understand how good food is here, and mexican restaurants suck in other states. Well, I agreed with them until I ate a burrito here at MI Casitas. Well the ordering is fast food style and May be perfect for to go orders but if dinning in coffee mugs and plates should not be offered in plastic or styrofoam. Not a recommended location for dinning in. However, we tried the food. The ranchero eggs were over cooked and the chorizo tasted as if the meat was shared with Taco Bell and not home made from the restaurant. We came here around 9:30am for just regular burritos but they refused to give us regular lunch burritos. I don't understand why we can't order regular burritos if they have all the ingredients in the kitchen. I don't think I'll be coming back. I have been meaning to stop in here for quite some time now and the urge finally struck me after working up an appetite at a local gym. The location is easy to find with easy access and ample parking. The building is fairly small looking for outside but I opted for the drive-through today. The parking lot was full however the drive-through had no customers. The menu is located at the window. Which I can see slowing down the flow of the drive-through if it was busy. Do you order at the window pay and they prepare your food before the next person pull up in order. I found the menu to be quite comprehensive. I ordered an avocado taco, a beef fajita taco, and a carne guisada taco. I also ordered an unsweet tea. This came to just under $15 which I found to be a little steep in price but well worth it if the food tasted good. The order came in a reasonable time. The lady at the window was very pleasant. The avocado taco came in a Styrofoam container but the other two came wrapped in foil. I almost feel like we should've been one way or another. The avocado taco came with two layers of tortillas which I found to be somewhat odd considering it was the Carne guisada Taco that was a "wet" taco which would typically require the two layers of tortillas. All of them looked OK however I found them all to be extremely bland and tasteless. Out of the three, the carne guisada Was the only one that I somewhat enjoyed. I was really bummed by this because I really felt like the yelp community had hiked this place up so much that my expectations were a lot higher. There were also a lot of rave reviews regarding their salsa. The two that I was given also had zero flavor and was extremely runny. It also never occurred to me to check my drink prior to getting about 45 minutes down the road. I took one big sip and realized that I had only had I been given sweetened tea but it was so sweet that there was no way I could even try to still drink it. I'd like to think that I will give this place another shot and try a few other menu items however with other options costing a lot less with A lot better flavor I may leave this place to be a distant memory. We have eaten here a couple of times over the past 7 years. It is good food. Most memorable for us was the 1lb 14oz Chuck Norris Burrito we actually weighed. It was delicious and full of meat, rice, beans, pico and avocado. They have good sauces at a serve yourself sauce bar with chips too. We have also had their fish tacos, fried avocado tacos, beef tacos, chicken tacos and even a big quesadilla. We were also brought some breakfast sausage tacos once too. Everything is good. After driving for 18 hrs straight, my bf and I were in search for the famous TexMex Breakfast Taco. We came across this small town off the I-20 and decided to forage and found this gem. There was a few cars in line which is usually a good sign, a less than enthused server came out to take our order and with 5 min we had a heavy bag full of breakfast. We ordered the following Tacos: - Bean and Cheese - Steak, Egg and Cheese - Migas and Barbacoa - Chorizo, Potato, Egg and Cheese Coming from Miami where food is overpriced with tiny portions these were cheap ($16) and huge! The tortilla was fresh, soft and fluffy while the eggs were nice and buttery. Highly recommend the Barbacoa, great texture and flavor while the Chorizo would bring you back to life after a night of partying. Totally worth the drive! read more
