If anyone out there remembers the Original El Charros in Tyler and enjoyed their food - well you're in for a treat. Finally...FINALLY....after many years I've found the closest thing out there that compares to an El Charro cheese enchilada. Soft corn tortilla, perfectly melted cheese, and chili sauce (I order mine w/xtra chili) that will make you swear it's 1999 and you're back at 5th and the Loop. And a guacamole salad that tastes just like Gilbert use to make it - fresh. Waitstaff is lovely. Helpful. Attentive. Ok, so the ambience is a bit underwhelming- who cares. Don't recommend it. There isn't much to say, it was very underwhelming. The food was edible, but basic.

Food was good especially the beef em and the fajita beef tacos. The chips and hot sauce are some of the best. We had take-out and the staff were very friendly and attentive. Will be back. read more

Only 3 I'm sorry! The food we got was a pick up order to go so I didn't get to go in and have it served fresh to the table. So maybe that's why it wasn't as good as it looked. We had gotten beef fajitas for three,one order with just the meat and the other order with meat and the onions and peppers. We got a large guacamole. A order of beans and rice. Salsa chips and a large Queso. Flour tortillas. The meat was juicy tender and it was cut small which I like. The beans and rice to me really had no flavor much. The salsa was awesome it was spicy and fresh tasting. The tortillas to me was not homemade or anything just the kind you get out of a package. The guacamole it was real good needed some spice to it. I will eat there again hopefully I can go in and eat that way it will be a lot fresher and hot. But yes I think if you ever want a fast tex mex they are worth the visit. read more

first time eating here. got the combo fajitas shrimp chicken and steak. way to spicy but that is not that big of a deal. I got take out and when I get home no cold set up for my fajita. no lettuce or pick or sour cream or guacamole. called to ask why and she told me that was extra charge. okay no problem I don't mind paying but when someone tells you this is their first time eating at your restaurant and then tips you 10.00 on a 25.00 order then you should take the time and make sure they are aware of what comes with their meal and what is extra. This is a small place in a town called nowhere east Texas. We went in later then standard lunch and it was empty. I wondered what was up, but this isn't rush town. So my partner and I sit down for some chow and I found it to be surprisingly fresh! From the salsa to the hot plated enchilada. Service was fast and I was happy to be surprised! I have trouble finding Mexican food out here in deep E Texas. Papacitas in longview was so good in high school and now.... we'll, I try not to go there. El Rincon is in a smallish building with lots of tables crammed in tightly together. Their menu is not huge, but covers the basics. My SIL and I like to share the fajitas and I also enjoy their fajita burrito. The portions are large, the hot sauce is flavorful and the service is usually pretty good. When we arrived, there were only two tables with customers and they all had been served their meals. This being said, I thought that since we were the only ones there, still to be served, we would get the attention and accuracy desired. When our meal did arrive my wife's meal was wrong and it was pointed out to the person that brought it, thou she was not our waiter. She said nothing and did nothing when it was pointed out and no one else attempted to correct the error. Now I know food taste different at every location but the flavor was not pleasant to either my wife or myself. The quantity was adequate and the look was pleasing. Worst Mexican food I have ever had . Service was garbage . Queso was the nastiest I have ever had . Y'all should be ashamed of the low quality food y'all put out . I've been here twice. While working in the area I stopped by for lunch. I had a limited amount of time for lunch because of my job but usually Mexican places are pretty quick. I can't tell you what the food was like because both times I was here they forgot my order! I went back the second time to give them another chance, but the same thing happened again. I chips and hot sauce, got my drink, gave the waitress my order. Then waited and waited until I saw people that came in after me get their food. I flagged down a waitress and asked about my food and had to give them my order again. They checked on it and told me they would have to put in the order. By that time my lunch was over and I had to get back to work. They didn't charge me for the drink and chips, but that's really not the point. I'm sure that's a rare occurrence but it happened to me twice. I will never go back there. read more

Tex-max places are everywhere in East Texas. This is my favorite even among some of the larger restaurants in Longview. I always get the tacos which have about as much beef in 1 as most places put in 2 or 3. read more

Tamales are #1, my husbands favorite. Beef stuffed Chile relleno is my favorite. Everything we have tried is great.

My husband and I have gone through a lot of trouble to find a good Mexican restaurant that we enjoy. My husband is a very picky eater, but eating here he will try anything and everything. The salsa is spicy,but it has a great flavor. My kids don't like salsa to be spicy, so they gave them this special sauce that calms it down. The staff is extremely kind, they will give anything me I ask for without hesitation, and that's a lot with a family of five! I would definitely recommend this to anyone out there.
