Placed an online order for a catfish basket with grits. Picked up and forgot to check my order as I usually do, because they always forget something. Today was no exception, when I got home only had catfish, no side no hush puppies. Who wants to drive back to pick up the rest of the order? I ordered the POBOY at the Catch I was very disappointed with it. They put 4 small shrimp on the buns , it was more bread than anything I couldn't hardly taste the shrimp. The only good thing was the cashier. Why would you serve a POBOY looking like this to anyone ? Don't ever Order the POBOY it's a real POOR BOY. Just look at it so sad all that bread no shrimp hardly at all. They reminded me the reason I stop coming there. They skimp on the shrimp for real. We tried The Catch for dinner when visiting Longview. I had the fried catfish on a reccomendation, which was good. The fries that were served with the catfish were seasoned well and cooked well. The hush puppy was fine. I had a Rolling Rock beer with my catfish. Strange to visit Texas and get a crap Pennsylvania beer. But, maybe it is part of the ambiance? I started with the Gumbo, which I did not think was very good. I could have used more shrimp and sausage. The flavor was just not to my taste. They did have a lot of boiled-style food, which I might return to try. The service was friendly. It took a while for our food to come out, and they were not busy. The atmosphere is very casual. Family get together, and it was all such a nice experience, the food is really good, fast service and no wonder the place is packed, all of it met our expectations. I ordered a $53 family meal, shrimp and two sides, for pickup. When I got it home, I discovered that one of the sides (fries) was completely missing. I tried calling them immediately and was put on hold for the manager who never picked up. I tried calling 4 more times over the next 1.5 hours and no one answered until the last one. I also ordered six hush puppies. I would order everything again except for the hush puppies as they were bland and it seemed like the oil was old so they had an off taste to the batter. I've also tried their combo and shrimp po boy! The gumbo is was seasoned surprisingly well and very filling. The shrimp po boy was delicious as well. The shrimp was crispy and the bread was soft. The Catch is a pretty good little seafood restaurant. I enjoyed a bowl of their crawfish étouffée and an order of the fried okra. I added a little bit of Louisiana hot sauce to it just for extra flavor, but I do that to every bowl of smothered crawfish or gumbo that is set before me. The roux in it is just where I like it, kind of a peanut butter color. If you prefer a chocolate roux to this, you might not groove on this, but I thought it tasted great. The okra tasted like it was fried to order, and they finished it with a little Cajun seasoning on it, which I kinda like. Sure, it looks like a fast food restaurant, but I've experienced upscale seafood restaurants that weren't as good as this. I'd be interested to stick around and see how busy this restaurant gets at lunch hour, because it's really worth it. read more

The gumbo is perfection with great flavor and huge shrimp, the grits have good flavor but they're just too thin. Really good fast casual seafood spot. We had a big party and were each able to order at the counter. The food arrived super quick to our table and was well seasoned. I went with the fish and shrimp platter, which was delicious. A few friends had the gumbo, and all said it was good, but very spicy. The portion sizes were all wonderful and cooked well. It was by far the second worst boiled shrimp and crawfish I've ever had, next to the crawfish I ate at a bar in Baytown, TX. I love flavorful, spicy crawfish from Steamboat Bill's in Lake Charles to Crawfish Shack in Crosby, TX. Take it from me, the crawfish and shrimp here were not only bland, but tough to peel. The food is delicious, prices are good. Only downfall is they only have a small selection of beer no one would ever drink and frozen margaritas (which are good). So much potential here. The menu has a nice assortment of options, the servers are friendly and helpful, and the quality of seafood is decent. Unfortunately, however, my food was incredibly greasy. And I didn't even order anything fried! Seriously, I got the grilled fish tacos, and subbed the fries out for the "fresh vegetables", thinking I was going to do this the healthy way (my mistake, maybe?). But the veggies were cooked in a ridiculous amount of butter (and/or oil; I couldn't tell), and the bottom of my tacos were oozing grease of some sort.
