The food was okay, fries were limp, the building looks like a goat shed, not much better inside. Hot, the air vents were really blowing, but unless you sat right under one it was hot. Just stopping in Gladewater on the way home to Texas. We stopped at New Pier for lunch/dinner and so glad we did. We ordered a cup of gumbo that was full of seafood and delicious. We ordered an order of onion rings to go along with our order of fried shrimp and fried oysters. Everything was so good and we really enjoyed it. This place is always packed. We thought- it must be great. Well, if you like salty, greasy mystery fish - this is your place. We asked if the fish was US fish - they did not know where it came from- the whole catfish was US. We just got Gumbo - it was okay - over salted. Hubby and I stopped for dinner at New Pier instead of driving all the way into Longview to another seafood restaurant. So glad we did! The fish was excellent! They have really good fried catfish. The French fries are the frozen kind. They also have fried shrimp. Also part of the menu are their street tacos. I like the chicken better than the beef, but they are both good. I wish they would do salsa and chips, but..... they do have little cups of green and red salsa to go with the tacos. It's usually pretty crowded in the place, but not so much with the restricted seating. They also have a decent burger. read more

Very rarely am I disappointed in this place. The only thing is that I wish they'd offer okra as a side and not just as an app, because I can't eat that huge basket of okra AND my food. Also, the non-jalapeño hush puppies should be listed on the menu as well. read more

My favorite Longview area fish and shrimp place. Great prices and large portions. The large fish pieces and the plump shrimp will impress your taste buds and fill your stomach with goodness. The boiled shrimp are large and spiced perfectly. I can think of few places where I feel I really enjoy the food as much as the great prices. This place is often very busy and the kitchen really gets after it. When you pay you pay at a window that opens to the kitchen so you can get a first hand look yourself. They do huge take out orders and keep most every seat full during meal times If I am eating fish and shrimp this is my first choice in and around Longview. If you live on the Longview's north side you have to check it out. I know its just fish and shrimp but I believe they do it the best in our area. read more

Can't believe I haven't been here until now! It's been around awhile and I drive past it all the time but it is only recently that people started telling me this place was awesome. So I went. Atmosphere is fine if not a little odd. Kind of a cross between Mexican food joint and trailer house. No problem there, just odd. Service was a little hit and miss. We got there, sat down, my wife went to the restroom and our waitress came by and said "you ready to order?" No thanks! Think I'll wait for my wife to get back. And I think I might need to open the menu as well. She was nice. Disappeared for a while in the middle of the meal. Overall, it was fine but I wouldn't call it great service. The food was a little like the service - hit and miss. The fried shrimp were great. The hush puppy's were really good and the gumbo was awesome. I used to get the gumbo and shrimp-in-shorts at Johnny Cace's and this reminded me of that. The fried catfish was bland. The batter and skin had no flavor. Good quality fish but the skin needs some type of seasoning. Maybe just put some Tony Cachere's out on the table and I'll handle it. The fried were fine but not anything to write home about. I think if I went here a few more times (and I will), I can find things on the menu that will be staples for me. Until then, it'll be a work in progress. Smiley face. read more
