It came out raw on the inside and charred on the outside. When I asked to have it fixed, they brought it back and the inside was finally cooked to the right, but the outside I'd become even further charred. And parts of it were now overcooked. I was in Longview for business and picked out Leon's Steakhouse. I was a bit worried from some of the other reviews about smoke; however the smoke was not a problem. In fact, when I got back to my hotel, my clothes smelled like Holiday Inn vs smoke. The atmosphere was what you'd expect - blue collar people kicking back after a day of work! I felt at home. The waitstaff was friendly and was very attentive without hovering. I ordered the Leon's Ribeye with Green Beans and homestyle fries. The fries were out of this world and fried with a chicken batter. The green beans were seasoned perfectly. The ribeye cooked medium rare was simply AMAZING. It was cooked to perfection, and seasoned perfectly. I can't tell you how many times I've paid more for a steak to only be disappointed. This place delivers!!! Give it a shot! read more

My husband and I went in for an early dinner. We have nothing but GOOD to say about this establishment!! We live on the other side of Longview so this place was new to us. The staff was so incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. I had to ask if the waitress was an owner due to her great and personal attitude. Found out that most of the full staff had been there for 10-20 years! Everything was clean, the customers were polite and friendly, the food was a great price and it was wonderful!! We will be back again and recommend it to others! Food - flavor sides without seasoning, okra and battered fries has no flavor. Just order the regular fries, the battered style is no good. If you don't mind the saloon aspect, it's a pretty good place to get steak. I got the lunch portion of the 10 ounce New York strip steak with a baked potato and a Coke. Cost me 20 bucks, which is about right. They did cook it medium rare, which was what I asked for. They also took the sour cream off the baked potato, which I'm not a big fan of sour cream. If I had been feeling froggy, I would've asked for some extra butter to put on top of the steak. But being that this is my first time to go, I wanted to critique the restaurant on the quality of the meat, which was pretty good. You don't see any windows from the outside or the inside. 21 and over to get in. Is a local steak house. The look can be deceiving, however, the steak is good for the price. The rib eye was juice, but a little salty. The cook had one too many salts shakes on the steak. The side dishes were good. The waitress Alexis was very polite and provide excellent service. The funny thing is been a while since I saw a restaurant that allows smoking. A couple of the patrons were puffing away, like a chimney. So you say you like local color? We Leon's is it. The people are super nice. This has to be the hot spot of Longview. At first I thought this is just a cool place to hang out. The parking lot is packed at 8 pm on a Thursday night. The menu has a surprisingly broad selection. I we with the chicken fried chicken and it was fantastic. The breading was light and crispy. I did not expect such a good piece of steak. You walk in and it looks like a bar. You can sit in that area, but there are pool tables and smoking in that section. They have a non-smoking section towards the back and we were lucky enough to come during the entertainment starting. The bar area was full of people, but the back was almost empty. First, the waitress -- I think her name was Jennifer -- was perfectly fine. She was kind and helpful in every way. Second, the food was NOT perfectly fine. The desk clerk at my hotel recommended Leon's Steakhouse. When I arrived, I noticed it was actually Leon's Steakhouse Saloon. When I walked in and my eyes adjusted to the dark, cavelike lighting, I was a little concerned. Looking at the menu, I instantly ruled out buying a steak. I've eaten in a lot of fine dining establishments and what you're paying for there is, partly, the environment, the ambiance. This was more of a roadhouse vibe at Leon's. But it had the fine dining prices. Soooo. . . steak was out and I decided on the salad route, specifically, a Caesar Salad, and asked for some grilled chicken on top. Kind of a standard menu item most anywhere you go, right? What came out of the kitchen was a plate of romaine lettuce + croutons + Parmesan cheese, and three small tubs of "Caesar" salad dressing. With grilled chicken, sliced, on top. Someone I once worked for once told me, "Presentation is everything." Truer words were never spoken. This was not Caesar Salad. It was merely some of the ingredients for a Caesar Salad. And the chicken had been cooked beyond digestion. It was overcooked, dry, and pretty tasteless. For the cook at Leon's Steakhouse Saloon, allow me to enrich your culinary knowledge base. To wit, here's how you do it. Caesar Salad with Grilled Chicken Ingredients: * 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts * 1 head of romaine lettuce * 1/2 cup croutons (make your own from scratch, they're better) * 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese * 1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil * 2 cloves garlic, minced * 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice * 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard * 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce * Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste * Anchovies (optional, but they offer a more authentic flavor) Instructions: 1. Start by grilling or pan-searing the chicken breasts until they are cooked through. Season them with salt, pepper, and a squeeze of lemon juice for extra flavor. Once cooked, let them rest for a few minutes, then slice them into thin strips. 2. While the chicken is resting, prepare the dressing. In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, minced garlic, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and a touch of freshly ground black pepper. THAT is a Caesar Salad, my friend. And it takes only slightly longer to prepare grilling or sautéing the chicken breasts (2 of them). Only the anchovies are anything approaching a hard-to-find ingredient. Longview may not be the epicenter of fine dining but, certainly, people here deserve better than what I was offered. For a well-prepared Caesar Salad, I've paid more than what Leon's charges for your Ribeye Steak (listed as $35, if I remember correctly) and have gladly paid the price for what turned out to be a transcendent experience. What I was served yesterday wasn't worth the listed price for the salad (without the chicken) -- $8.50 -- by a long shot. Double that for the added dry, overcooked, tough, and bland chicken breast (singular) and you have a meal that can only be called regrettable in the eating. In retrospect, I would have been better off dining at the Cracker Barrel restaurant that the desk clerk offered as an alternative. At least, I could have counted on their consistency. I've NEVER been disappointed at a Cracker Barrel as I was at Leon's Steakhouse Saloon. For a good time in Longview. . . don't visit Leon's. read more

I ordered the NY Strip (which they let me do off of the dinner menu when it was lunchtime) and it was EXCELLENT. VERY nice thick cut and beautifully seasoned and cooked to my preference.
