Chilaquiles with ribeye steak
Karen R.

Love coming here for breakfast. They have a new menu and a few are my favorites are the chilaquiles, arepas and freshly squeezed orange juice.

Located kinda close to the Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Plano, Texas, this restaurant with a very plain name and large menu, served up breakfast classics. I thought the pricing was high for the portions served, but it was tasty. The cafeteria at the hospital is closed on the weekends, so my brother and nephew had found this restaurant the previous morning. I wanted to buy my nephew breakfast since I hadn't seen him for a while, so the two of us came back here the morning after I flew into Dallas. He had just discovered skillets (dish with hash brown as a base, and all kinds of breakfast foods on top), and he wanted to try it again. It wasn't very busy inside, even though it was a Sunday morning. We were seated right away, and our waiter started and continued to be attentive. We both got the same thing: Mexican Skillet (14.99) consisting of chorizo, vegetables, cheese and choice of eggs (mine being over easy). It came soon after, and was served on a typical stone dish (not a skillet). The portions were small, and was light on the chorizo (but had plenty of jalapenos), but the hash browns were very crispy and delicious (the eggs were ordinary). I ordered some salsa with it (which they did not charge me), but didn't need it. The skillet comes with choice of bread, so got english muffin. There was jam packets available at each table, and unfortunately it tasted old. The english muffin had been grilled with butter on the flat-top, a good idea if done right, but it had been squished on it, getting rid of all the nooks and crannies. Not sure why they didn't just put it in a toaster. Paid for the meal tableside, once I got our waiters attention. We had ordered a couple of breakfast bagel sandwiches to go (one sausage and one with canadian bacon) for $7.99 each and it used fresh eggs. They did a nice job of wrapping it, and it was a nice breakfast for the folks who stayed behind.

Very clean restaurant. Service was great and the food was wonderful. Came for brunch and we look forward to seeing what else we can order next!

I have had some great food at Texas Cafe. Today I tried the veggie omlette and grits. Both were excellent. Ale was an epic server, too! Yes, I will be back!

We decided to try different breakfast place this morning. I asked Yelp and this establishment caught our attention. It says it's under new management at the front of the place. It's located next to the Kwik Lube. We were seated right away and it's very spacious and busy with customers. They have a quite extensive menu front and back. I decided on Migas with corn tortillas (My favorite bf)and PB decided on double cheeseburger with fries. My food was really good and PB's double cheeseburger was ginormous and he said it was really good. Our server was friendly and attentive. It's definitely a keeper. We will definitely return to try more stuff on the menu.

COUNTRY SKILLET

Tired the country skillet with side of pancake. Skillet comes with biscuits gravy, sausage cheese hashbrowns with 2 eggs. Coffee was hot and good. Waitress was friendly.

STEAK SKILLET with side of crepes and fresh strawberries!

This place felt so warm and welcoming, the kind of service that makes you feel truly cared for. The food was amazing! Everything we ordered was fresh and full of flavor, you can tell they really take pride in what they serve. The staff went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. Our server, Ale was especially great. She was super attentive and accommodating. Definitely one of those spots you can't wait to come back to, and I'll be recommending it to everyone I know!

We went for breakfast here. Very busy on weekends. We ordered Bacado Omelette and Lox with tomatoes and onions on wheat toast. Both were freshly made and delicious. Our server is "The Young Turk". He knows what I mean He's friendly and helpful. This restaurant is owned and managed by Albanian Family, a Mom and Pop's business. I noticed the framed painting on the wall of my favorite Saint, Mother Teresa. She's born in Albania. The place is very clean, well lighted and nicely decorated. Will comeback next time to try other food from their menu.

I really enjoyed the American cuisine here--great food and a nice atmosphere overall…read more I ordered the French onion soup and the Reuben eggrolls. The French onion soup seems to be popular here, and as soon as I saw that buttery-looking pastry puff baked on top, I knew I had to order it! It was definitely hearty, with plenty of onions (which I love). However, it was a bit saltier than I prefer. I do wish there were an option to substitute the onion soup with a chowder, like clam or corn chowder. The Reuben eggrolls were surprisingly good! I'm used to traditional Asian eggrolls, so I really liked this creative twist. The house-smoked pastrami, sauerkraut, and melted Gruyère cheese worked so well together. They tasted amazing with the spicy Russian dipping sauce (which I appreciated wasn't too spicy). It was such a flavorful and memorable dish! I'm glad I gave it a try.

You know how sometimes they bring a roll to the table for the table to share? Not here boyeeeee Each person gets their own roll. I don't even know how to explain this heavenly bread. It truly is the best beard I have ever had before. I would come eat here again JUST FOR THE BREAD. The crab cake is out of this world. Huge jumbo clumps. Also comes with a variety of sauces. The wasabi one was our favorite. You must order the crab cake! My husband got the ribeye rare and said it was the best steak he has had, and he eats a ton of steak. I got their off menu item of carne asada tacos. The meat was sooooo tender. They don't use flank steak they use a tenderloin and it just melts. The mushrooms were Devine. Glad I ordered the carne asada. The adult Mac and cheese was good but just good. Brussels sprouts were good (not the best I have had) but I think I was also just so full by this point. The asparagus is huge!!! Oh the best finisher ever- the peanut butter pie!!!! OMG!!!!!!!!!! I'm not even a dessert girl and I couldn't stop eating it. First time me and my husband were fighting over the last bite.

Warm wood tones, beautiful lighting, and that perfect upscale-yet-cozy feel make the whole place feel special. The location is ideal too -- easy to get to and surrounded by that lively Shops at Legacy energy without any of the chaos. But the food? Next level. The elk tacos were straight-up fantastic -- perfectly seasoned, tender elk, fresh toppings, and just the right amount of heat. I could have eaten a second order without hesitation. Then came the chicken fried steak, and it did not disappoint. Crispy, golden crust, juicy and flavorful meat, and that classic creamy gravy that tastes like it was made with love. Every bite was pure comfort food elevated. Everything about the experience felt thoughtful and elevated, yet still warm and welcoming. If you're in Plano and want a restaurant that nails both the food and the atmosphere, Haywire is it. I'm already planning my next visit. Hands-down 10/10. It's got that Texas feel to it, but cleaned up a bit. Comfortable, but still a little polished. The food was really solid across the board. You know how brunch can sometimes just be... fine? This wasn't that. Everything tasted like someone actually cared about it. Good seasoning, cooked right, and just enough creativity without overdoing it. It still felt like brunch, just done properly. Drinks were great too. Not over-the-top, just well-made and easy to enjoy. Definitely the kind of place where one turns into two without much convincing. Service was smooth--friendly, attentive, but relaxed. Nobody hovering, nobody rushing you out. Just a good flow to the whole meal. We ended up sitting there longer than we planned, just hanging out and enjoying it, which probably says the most. If you're in Frisco and want a brunch spot that actually feels worth going to, Haywire's a safe bet.
