This little gem of a coffee shop offers breakfast and lunch, with both set menu and daily specials. Everything is fresh and full flavored, not dosed in salt or heavy spices. The coffee is served in a French press and so good we bought a pound to go. This is not fast food, so be prepared for a little wait-not too long, and worth it. Unlike some smaller kitchens, all orders for a table came out together, which was really nice. They accommodate and substitute if at all possible, and the menu is varied enough for all. We were in town for a week and had a lovely breakfast or early lunch there three times. read more

Wow, I would KILL to have a place like this in my neighborhood. My boss took me here for my annual review/lunch and it couldn't been more perfect. The food was yummy and homestyle - we both got panini sandwiches and soup - and although we occupied a table for way over two hours, the friendly staff didn't make us feel rushed or unwelcome. In fact, they checked in every so often to see if we wanted more French press coffee, dessert, etc. As the afternoon became early evening, I saw people walking in to get takeout for dinner. Although the store's not a full-fledged market, it seems to fill a sweet little niche in the neighborhood: part deli, coffee shop, restaurant, limited grocery and local hangout. My boyfriend and I moved to Queen Anne a few months ago and this was the first place we stopped by! The breakfast and lunch options are amazing, there is always something you're craving. Their coffee cake MIGHT be the best thing I've ever tasted. I love the staff here, they always remember us when we come in and are extremely accommodating. This place rules! Everything is fresh and made from scratch and it really makes a difference. The atmosphere is warm and inviting and everyone is so nice! Brunch is my favorite meal of the day and their mimosas are on point Also- their bacon is peppered and thick sliced, cooked to perfection. I really love the Rachel sandwich, which is a turkey Reuben. No. My husband and I were so excited to try -- 4.5 stars on yelp, wow! But, no. It's an overpriced deli. They serve mediocre food you can *truly* make at home by yourself. Some might think it's quaint and cute how they serve home-style food, but for the prices they charge, I was appalled. The worst part was we waited so long for even a menu, and we came after the big rush, a little before closing. The sandwich bread was super dry and flaky, the beef stew (soup) was super salty, and the buttermilk waffle was truly the worst waffle I've had to date. It was extremely dense, and each bite felt like you stuffed a whole bunch of saltine crackers in your mouth--so dry! I was shocked. The fruit on the waffle was okay, nothing to write home about, and the whipped cream was pretty much already melted by the time it hit our table. Tenth West might be palatable if you live next door and genuinely don't want to cook (I get it, I have those mornings too), but it is definitely not worth even a short drive. The girls I watch love this place, and it's within walking distance, so we've come here for lunch on a couple of occasions. The Ice Box is a super cute little cafe/mini grocery store with indoor and outdoor seating. It's been moderately busy around noon both times we've come. I love the service--everyone is very friendly. I've tried a couple of sandwiches and have enjoyed both. I think this last time I got a 1/2 turkey sandwich and some potato salad. The seasoning and crunch in the potato salad was perfect. While I loved the bread used for the sandwich, I wish it were toasted because it falls apart easily. For two sandwiches and a bagel, no drinks, it was about $25 but because they actually have great food and amazing service it makes it worth the price! read more

One heck of a breakfast spot! - 5 stars My cousin, aunt and I ate here a few times during my trip, and I have to say it is one of the best breakfast spots I have been to. The food is really delicious, and the specials are interesting and enticing. During my stay, I had the special breakfast sandwich (egg, local sausage, spinach, gruyére cheese, tomato on ciabatta served with home-style potatoes), which was perfectly balanced in flavor and had a nice spice from the sausage; the egg scramble (eggs, sausage, tomato, bell pepper and cheese served with fresh fruit) which was cooked nice and medium; and the banana bread french toast (yeah, banana bread!) which was absolutely phenomenal! The homemade banana bread was great in its own right with rich banana and walnuts but they up the flavor by soaking the bread in egg until custardy, crisping it on the grill, sprinkling with powder sugar and serving it up with warm butter, maple syrup and fresh fruit. 100% A+++ Yum! The market side was kind of neat with some specialty food but nothing you couldn't find at a World Market. I was hoping for some more local foods but can't ding them for that. The inside was nice, clean but somewhat small. They do have a patio in front that adds some seating. Not really meant for big groups, though, and you do order at the counter so no waitstaff, however, the owners are really friendly. Overall, if you can get to the Queen Anne area, this is a must try breakfast place. It is a bit pricey ($9-12 per entree), but with their large portions, it is definitely worth every penny. read more

Tenth West deserves 5 STARS! I went on a Wednesday,it was pretty slow. The atmosphere was relaxing. I felt as if I stepped into a home down South. Service was perfect, very friendly waiter.The food was generously portioned. The chicken was lightly seasoned and the crust was crispy,juicy,and chewy, just how i like it! Best lunch place on Queen Anne! Every item I've ordered has been fresh & full of flavor. They use top quality ingredients and give you a generous portion. One of my favorites is their curry chicken salad sandwich. They pile on the chicken and it's the best I've ever had. The soups, cookies and rice crispy treats are amazing too. I can't tell you how awesome it is to have a place like Icebox in this part of Queen Anne. I live about a mile away and, as someone who prefers getting work done in a sleepy coffee shop or cafe over my office, I really appreciate how perfectly the Icebox fits. If it's not on the daily menu at the moment, they are more than happy to try to conjure up what you crave. When the weather warms up, you gotta try one of their can't-have-just-one sangrias. Hit it right with happy hour and add in a slider...cod fish, meatball...it's all good! I cannot get enough of their mediterranean tuna panini, with a cup of curry cauliflower soup on the side. All I was looking for was a normal-to-good breakfast with coffee and eggs, but what I ended up having was a superb cup o' french press and the most DELICIOUS waffle I've EVER HAD. Seriously, the waffles are one of a kind. I'd like to know what they make them with (besides magic). When I was there I saw 3 other people order the waffle, so its not just me, they must be a thing. This place is like Queen Anne's adorable little secret. You could take your grandma here or your hipster cousin (which ironically might have a lot in common) and they would probably both love it.
