Love, love, love this homey little spot! These ladies rock! It's a casual atmosphere with daily amazing specials. If it's not on the daily menu at the moment, they are more than happy to try to conjure up what you crave. When the weather warms up, you gotta try one of their can't-have-just-one sangrias. Hit it right with happy hour and add in a slider...cod fish, meatball...it's all good! I cannot get enough of their mediterranean tuna panini, with a cup of curry cauliflower soup on the side. All I was looking for was a normal-to-good breakfast with coffee and eggs, but what I ended up having was a superb cup o' french press and the most DELICIOUS waffle I've EVER HAD. Seriously, the waffles are one of a kind. I'd like to know what they make them with (besides magic). When I was there I saw 3 other people order the waffle, so its not just me, they must be a thing. This place is like Queen Anne's adorable little secret. You could take your grandma here or your hipster cousin (which ironically might have a lot in common) and they would probably both love it. Great for BREAKFAST! Weekdays and weekends. Best hidden breakfast place in Seattle where you can avoid the long weekend waits. Our meal was incredibly fresh. I had a scramble, fresh fruit cup and a Macrina Banquette. My friend had banana bread french toast. For lunch I suggest the salami deli sandwich, the reuben or the BLT. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I've been a Chef forever, But ya know what? I'm the easiest guy in the world to cook for. My needs are few, all I ask for is that the ingredients are fresh, flavorful, real and top notch; and have the food, service and execution be straightforward, and unpretentious. You get all of this in spades at the Icebox. AND, to put icing on the gravy, you get the skill of their culinary team and some of the nicest ladies I've ever met in the biz to boot. Living around the corner, I've eaten everything on their menu, at least twice. Everything from the crisp and perfect Panini's, to the freshly sliced deli Sammie's, to the delicious fluffy waffles, to their scratch soups, sides and most of their specials (always get the buttermilk fried chicken if you are lucky enough to see it), coffee cakes, salads, etc etc etc . I could bore or excite you to death by going on and on about how pitch perfect it is, how i have so many favorites, how I'm there at LEAST every other week, and how I've never been disappointed, but I won't. I'll just tell you one thing, If you are ever anywhere even close to The LQA, (Lower Queen Anne) just go, you will not be disappointed by this little gem. read more

I live right around the corner and this place is awesome! I am a foodie, and this place gets it right. A local cafe/deli/grocery, this place is a must for anyone in Queen Anne. After my first visit I was hooked. Great sandwiches and soups. They offer daily breakfast and lunch/dinner specials. Some of my favorites have been: Chicken Cordon Bleu, Eggs Benedict, Pork Tenderloin, Panko Crusted Shrimp Po' Boy, and pretty much any soup I have ever had there. I even walked in one day, told them I felt like a chicken sandwich, and was made a Jerk Chicken sandwich with mango chuttney that was not on the menu or the special board. Seriously! Did I mention great local/craft beers? All of this for a price thats totally affordable. More restaurants in Seattle should take notes from these people. Its refreshing to have a truely neighborhood spot get it right in pretty much every way. This place is actually probably going to keep me from ever leaving Queen Anne! . I have to say that I really want to like this place. It is quaint and the people are nice but they have a serious issue in actually being open when they say they will be. I walked by this evening at 4:45pm and things were closed up already. If this was the first time then I might be more lenient but considering this is probably pushing it to over the half-dozen mark then I figured it is time to say something. I realize that being a recent transplant from New York that I may be expecting too much. I've encountered a more laid back attitude in Seattle since moving here and it has taken some getting used to but a business simply not being open during posted business hours is unacceptable. If you don't want to stay open then post your hours as such. If you want to close at 4 then close at 4 and let people who might want to stop by to pick something up know that they'll need to give their money to someone else. I really wanted to be able to support local business. And I do mean local since I literally live right around the corner but considering that there is a severe lack of consistency in determining what the operating hours will be then I will now gladly give my money to someone else. i LOVE this place!!! the tuna sandwich is the best ever, (no mayo!!), with olive oil, fresh herbs, olives and pistachios grilled to perfection on a panini (or on fresh cider bread, if you prefer). the soups are all handmade and always delish (dont miss the creamy tomato basil), and i think their reuben is a secret contender for best in seattle. the house salad is simple but amazing, with little radishes and pepitas. the daily specials are always great and creative, and it is hard to believe that this little neighborhood store is putting out ridiculously yummy (and well-priced) food that rivals any other place in seattle. read more

I love stopping in for lunch by myself or an early dinner with my husband and toddler. The owners are the kindest people and the food is delicious. It is a quaint, comfortable place and we are so lucky to have a little place like this in our neighborhood. I always get a 1/2 corned beef sandwich and a cup of their homemade soup for lunch. If I come for dinner, I usually have whatever their special is. I love how they have a great set menu but then they offer several specials daily that are usually stick- to- your ribs home cooking. I NEVER write reviews! With that being said I absolutely love Tenth West for brunch. It's a small little cafe with very minimal decor; it has the vibe of a small grocery store. I was so surprised how delicious the food was! We ordered eggs, potatoes, toast (on a delicious buttery slice of baguette) and shared the waffle, which was amazing. It's just good hearty food with no fuss. We asked for coffee and they brought us our own French press to share. I love it. I recently moved up to QA and I couldn't be happier to find this little gem. All the typical brunch spots had huge lines and I found that Tenth West was way mellow for a Sunday morning, which is awesome for the locals. read more

AMAZING food! Everything is made fresh with fabulous ingredients. I got the veggie sandwich (soooo good!) and the tomato soup (made fresh by the staff from scratch with whole tomatoes instead of using canned ingredients). I even got a free 1/2 sandwich because they accidentally made a whole sandwich instead of the 1/2 I ordered. Before I even had a chance to tell them so they didn't get ripped off, the staff member said he accidentally made the whole sandwich, so the other 1/2 was on the house. My husband got the curried chicken sandwich and a really quality side salad (not crappy lettuce!) and loved that too! We enjoyed the quality bread and ingredients. The food is still very good, and the atmosphere is homey, but the portion size for what you're paying is meager--especially compared with what it used to be when it was called The Icebox. Twelve dollars used to get you a large, overstuffed Panini with a generous side salad. Today, my entire to-go Panini is just over fist-sized, and the salad came in a container the size of a shot glass. I understand that you need to stay in the black, but short changing your customers in not the right way to do it. Won't be returning. Not worth it. read more

I can't attest to the food, but I stopped in the other day to pick up a carton of rice milk--they sell groceries in addition to serving food. When I got home, I saw that the cap had been opened, the seal had been broken, and that the carton was 2/3 full. Did they use the milk and then put it back on the shelf to sell? I was so excited for this cute little grocery/restaurant to open in my neighborhood. I give the food, atmosphere, etc 5 stars because it is absolutely delicious and the owners are great. We would go there every day if we could. BUT- I gave it 3 stars overall because their hours are untenable. I have gone to the Icebox on numerous occasions and they seem to always be closed at the times that I want to be there. I have just stopped going because I get so irritated to show up and see darkened windows. During the week, I would love to pick up some grocery items for dinner or pick up a fast dinner, but they aren't open! They open well after I've left for work and close well before I even think about getting home. During the weekend, we sometimes make it, but they open too late for breakfast and close too early for dinner. They would definitely have a lot of business from my husband and I if they could straighten out their hours. My suggestion is to stay open later (at least 7!) during the week and even later (eg 9:00) on the weekend. I hope they figure out new hours soon so that I have a chance to take advantage of this delicious neighborhood addition! read more

We really wanted to love this place. It is small, cute and close to us. Our waiter was really nice, the other was ok. Except for that, I must say the rating is WAY overrated. First of all, the prices are ridiculous. We ended up paying $75 for 2 kids who had wafles and 2 adults who ate omelet. Then the quality of the food was disappointing. It all started with the hot cholocate: the whipped cream had gone bad. That happens, but it's unfortunate. And really the staff response wasn't that great (they basically told us that it tasted different because it was home made - really??). Then the waffles were ridicilously thin and dry. Like the kind that you buy at the store in a package. The girls did not like them. Our omelet was also disapointing, vegetables were wet and the eggs unercooked. And there was a hair in mine. Not sure how that place got a rating of 4+ stars, but I can only guess she asked her friends for a review. read more
