Apple Apple Pecan Crisp with vanilla ice cream Apple Pecan Crisp
Nathan H.

Fantastic bison burger grilled medium rare w/ grilled onions, bacon, and cheddar cheese. Garnished with lettuce tomato, pickle & onion but I only added the tomato. Fresh cut French fries, iced tea & water, then there was pecan apple crisp w/ vanilla ice cream -- it was big enough for four to share! Service was great and the interior of a historic classic old restaurant with a bar was comfortable and enjoyable.

Ted's is normally our go to steakhouse while visiting from out of town and unfortunately, it will be my last visit. While my first experience was great, each visit since has gone downhill, and this most recent one was incredibly disappointing. We waited 30 minutes just to get drinks from the bar. Our server seemed overwhelmed, and it was clear the restaurant was struggling to keep up. Our kids were starving, and it took an hour and a half for our food to arrive. When it finally came, I ordered the ribeye, which was completely flavorless--definitely not what I expect from a place known for steaks. At the end of the meal, I brought up our concerns to the server. She apologized and offered 10% off the bill. We were charged, signed, and ready to leave after a 2.5-hour dinner. However, we noticed the discount hadn't been applied, so we stayed behind while the bill was corrected and reprinted. Days later, we noticed an unauthorized charge on our account--for the full amount of the bill. We've called the restaurant multiple times to speak with a manager, and no one has returned our calls. As someone with 15 years in the restaurant industry, I find it unacceptable that no one from management addressed our concerns at the table or has followed up since. We'll be disputing the charge with our credit card company. It's unfortunate, because Ted's used to be a great spot, but the service and accountability have gone severely downhill. If you're looking for a good steak and a smooth dining experience, I'd recommend going elsewhere.

We were a group of five dining at Ted's Montana Grill and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. It took over an hour for our food to arrive, which would be understandable if the restaurant was packed -- but it wasn't. There were maybe five or six tables occupied in total. It was clear the staff was overwhelmed or understaffed. We saw new customers come in and stand around waiting, with no one greeting them for several minutes. Eventually, a server came out and explained she had been helping in the kitchen. That honestly made me wonder -- was my steak cooked by a chef, or by one of the servers? I ordered my steak medium rare, but what I got was at least medium, if not more. For a place that positions itself as a steakhouse, that kind of mistake is disappointing. All in all, the restaurant wasn't busy, yet service and execution were far below expectations. Sadly, we won't be coming back any more.

We could only get 12 on one large table so 3 were seated on a table close by. That was fine, we are just happy to get us all in together. The service was Outstanding! From our waiter, Dillion, to our sommelier Jen, to the bussers, everyone worked together to get the plates and utensils cleared and replaced, and the wine glasses filled. Our food was amazing! The Beef tartare and the oysters were a hit. The steaks were cooked perfect, and our sides (Asparagus, Brussels Sprouts, Broccolini, and Whipped Potatoes) were excellent. For dessert we had the Baked Alaska & Butterscotch Chantilly. The Chantilly was my favorite and was so good. See my pics for a view. Love this place and will be back! Cheers!

I had the heist salad, brocolini, beets and 28 oz wagyu special for the main. The salad was good, kind of a greek style. It was a little heavy on the vinegar but still good. Everything else was smoked on the hot grill and it really adds to the flavor without overpowering the meal. The smoke and char with a touch of salt was a perfect combination on the brocolini. I normally don't like beets but there were sweet and not overcooked. Surely the star of the night was the wagyu. I asked for it to be between medium rare and medium and that is exactly what they did. The great part was that the char was super nice and crunchy with a perfect salt and pepper rub while the inside was still at the temp I requested. Good overall meal, come prepared to drop a pretty penny for the experience.

The Fungi Pizza: This is our usual go-to, but the dine-in version was totally off. For takeout, they pack the greens separately so you can control the heavy lime flavor, and they include a cream of mushroom sauce that makes it incredibly creamy. In the restaurant, they forgot the cream sauce entirely and piled the greens on top with so much lime it tasted like biting into lemons. We tried adding salt and pepper to cut the intense acidity, but it didn't help at all. The Japan Chicken: On the plus side, the Japan Chicken was excellent--incredibly juicy and crispy. This dish is actually much better when you dine in. When we get it for takeout, it loses its crunch and ends up feeling like a basic chicken nugget. Definitely order this one fresh at the table.

When we came in at around 4pm, there seemed to be plenty of tables available but after an hour, the place quickly filled up. Vibes/Service: Parking lot in the back and it seemed there was some street parking available as well. Many, many tables available with bar seating as well. It can certainly fit a larger group. Great service from our server. Checked on us often and filled up our waters. Food: Because it was our first meal here, we wanted to try out their staple dishes. -Bison Potstickers ($16): 5 pieces topped with mango and garlic chili sauce and served with some coleslaw. Rich and filling, paired well with the sauce. Would order this again! -Bison Patty Melt ($22): it was my first time eating Bison, the waiter suggested medium rare. It looked more red than I usually like but it actually was juicy and tasty-- I guess this is the difference between a regular beef patty. I'd also order this again. -Served with pepper parmesan fries which was so uniquely food. Fries were fresh. -Huckleberry Cream Ale ($8/pint) paired well with my meal.

My server knew the special menu, regular menu and drinks very well. I ordered the bison patty melt and tots for the meal and the Bridger Hazy IPA for the drink. The bartender recommended the IPA and it was excellent. The homemade tots were great. A shredded potato in the middle, nice and creamy and crunchy exterior. Feedback was there were only 5 on the plate. Definitely could use more. The bison patty met was perfectly cooked. A lot of folks overcook and dry out the bison. It was perfectly medium and juicy. Feedback would be a little char on the patty would be great. The service really tailed off in the end, it was not super busy and they had about 5 servers behind the bar. I sat there for at least 15 min until another bar tender asked if I wanted another brew and my server came about 5 to 10 later to attend to things.

But, my husband and I decided to bite the bullet. There aren't many options for Christmas Eve dining in town anyway. Our waitress, who seemed to also be one of the bartenders was very sweet. We sat close to the entrance so we got a little cold when the front doors opened but it wasn't bad overall. The interior was very cute and inviting. We ordered way too much food but I'll break it down dish by dish... * Lemon Drop: Worth every penny. I wish I had more in a glass. * Bone Marrow: Not bad. It could have used a tad more seasoning but the sourdough bread definitely helped elevate the flavor. I wish the bread was toasted but no big deal. * French Onion Soup: Delicious! My husband hates onions but loved the soup here. It was especially tasty on a semi-cold Christmas Eve night. * 16 oz. Ribeye: Cooked perfectly. I love a cast iron seared steak and the beef tallow made it even better. We decided to split a steak - already knowing we'd order way more than two people could eat. * Lobster Mac & Cheese: It was much better than I was expecting. * Heirloom Baby Carrots: There was something about this dish that just didn't do it for me. I'm not sure if it was the spices, or lack of, but still better than others. * Cornbread skillet: A reliable side if it's something you're craving but nothing to write home about. * Cookie skillet: Not very exciting. The cookie was okay but the huckleberry ice cream made it much better. * Dow's 10-year: Treat yourself! This port was the perfect balance of sweet and smooth. My husband also ordered french fries and there was nothing special about 'em. He's not a fan of truffle fries so these were plain. I personally think the truffle fries would have been a better option. All in all, our bill was about $240. Definitely not an every day dining experience for us but we're happy to come back, with a few menu alterations, on special occasions.
