I've been to Montana ale works several times and it's quickly become one of my favorite places for dinner in Bozeman. It has it all: a vast, delicious menu, excellent service and fantastic ambiance! I love the salads and the fact that they offer tofu as a protein, which makes it accessible for every dietary preference. The Asian ramen salad is my absolute favorite. It has such a distinct umami flavor that I love! I most recently had the house made veggie burger and it really hit the spot. It was so tender, flavorful and nutritious. The fries were also amazing with a perfect texture and so flavorful. I love that it used to be a train station and that it still has a historic feel despite also feeling upscale. I'd highly recommend this restaurant for any occasion.

If I could give it 10 stars I would. When it comes to the food. Josh and I have yet to go to a restaurant where we both agree the food is absolutely excellent and beyond expectations!! Our waitress gave is great recommendations. Service was great. Food was even better. Ambiance Is perfect for all occasion.

Absolutely amazing!!! Made reservations as we were coming into town for the night. As it was our first night/visit to MT, and was able to get in. The place is almost like a small old warehouse, and great open high roof restaurant with high tops, booths and a bar with TVs. Our server was great besides the small comment at the end due to a comment made about service, which I can respect but at the same time not something you say. However high credit for the kitchen as food was fast from appetizers, salads/soups, the kids meals first before our main courses. We had a party of 6, two of us got the bison steaks as I as for the waiters recommendations, and it was absolutely amazing, tender and the cooks to perfection. I had the chipotle Brussels sprouts which I would have more chipotle flavor to them for my taste. My Wife and mother got burgers, in which both enjoyed theirs, specially the garlic fries and sauce the Mrs had with hers. One kiddo got pasta and chicken and the other chicken and mash, everything was tasteful. Overall great experience.

Great place! Entrees are a bit expensive, but sandwiches are delicious and reasonable. A hack is that any patty can be swapped into any sandwich. I got the elk burger as described on the menu and it was great! The fries are some of the best I've ever had. There is also a nice selection of beers. I recommend the huckleberry cream ale. Service was fast and friendly. The building looks like an old train depot, and the whole place has an old west, train vibe, but it looks clean and modern at the same time.

We were looking for a place on New Year's Eve. We wanted to end 2025 on a good foot. It was perfect. Seated right away (of course we went at 5pm). Everyone who served us was happy and helpful, no rush just fun. With the place all decorated and very clean it was easy to relax and people watch. The most important, the food!!!! Outstanding , with the most tasty, unique meal combinations! We will most definitely be back! You should absolutely put this on your list of must do's for your next visit to Bozeman!

We stopped by for some snacks and drinks. Our server, Thomas, was very helpful identifying beers I would enjoy and very detailed with the specials for the night. The Asian sesame wings were tasty, but the wings were a bit small. The queso was delish and the red pepper jalapeño soup was fabulous! This spot was very busy, but the service was pretty solid. It is a great spot for a large party too.

Bison steak garlic mash and yummy fresh veggies

Must try, do not pass this one up!!! *****By far.... best steak I have ever had, intense crust of flavor seared into the juicy bison steak. First time trying bison highly recommend. Veggies were excellent so was garlic mash everything super flavorful. atmospheres is comfortable nice lighting comfy bar chairs & great service. Lemonade was also awesome fresh squeezed and so good. Great experience 5 stars all around including the service thank you Joey for a great exercise :) FINALLY a meal worth paying for

Last chance exactly as imagined. I used to come here for special occasions but the value just got strangely out of whack for me. This opinion is based on 10+ visits over time at a variety of times. Always less than 4 people in the group. After this last visit I'm just not going back. My steak frites was 3 sliced pieces of some rump round or something. Tough as hell and literally 3 bites on top of washed out fries. I was so frustrated I just went to eat and it was so tough I actually thought I was going to choke and die on site. Service was really weird. Literally a different person for each stage (including water service) which can be a bit confusing for the diner if random people just keep approaching. Honestly I just won't be back. Food sucked, portions were beyond tiny and the service made me feel awkward while randomly approaching. Very unusual but I'm never going back. Good luck it's a mess and costs a fortune.

My husband and I came here for dinner after a day spent at Yellowstone! It was a chill vibe and very big inside, so plenty of seating. Our server was friendly and helpful as well. Our food was pretty standard brewery food - not too fancy and not too casual in quality. Overall, a nice spot with lots of options!

    Bison Potstickers

Came in here with a large party of 12 boys at a bachelor party - and as overwhelming as that could have been for our server, he remained incredibly calm, patient, and was super accommodating. A bit pricier than I would have liked for what was seemingly higher-end bar food, but honestly there were a few menu items that I found quite unique and delicious - specifically the bison potstickers and the elk burger (see photos) - both items I would never find back home and that helped justify the cost a little bit. It was PACKED the night we were there and parking was a bit challenging as a result. Guess that's what we should have expected for Bozeman's Most Award-Winning Restaurant!

Everything was delicious. Bison potstickers had a great flavor, the soup was amazing with the crispy cheese on top, and everything washed down nicely with their homemade root beer. Our waitress was so nice and gave us some local recommendations.

The food here is really good and creative. Service was amazing and they took very good care of us. I got the bison meatloaf and enjoyed it. It tasted a little salty but not too bad. We got a starter with the Queso and it was pretty good too. My son loved their chicken tenders. The place looks amazing inside and has a great outdoor patio too.

    Nicolette M.

Awesome spot! The beers were all great, and they have a wide selection of Montana/local beers to try. The food was good and all around a great vibe in a beautiful town. We popped in right when we landed, if you land in Bozeman I'd say start here and explore the area after getting a snack and some local (non-local options too) beer!

I really enjoyed the Braised Bison Tacos!!

The bartender was friendly and made us laugh a lot. She was also very good at her job and made us some excellent cocktails. We ordered from the cocktail menu, but she was ready to make whatever you wanted, except for a Captain and Mountain Dew because unfortunately they don't have Mountain Dew at the hotel. And don't worry, it wasn't me ordering that. Not that I'd shame anyone for their cocktail choices but the gentleman and lady next to us had some interesting combinations they wanted to order. We also ordered the carrot cake pops. Man those were good too. We contemplated coming in the next day for some more. We liked them that much. The ambiance of this rooftop bar is also fantastic. It's large and decorated really well but the piece de resistance was the outside and the views of Downtown Bozeman. The cozy fire pits and comfy seating were very appealing. There seemed to be one bartender and another person helping. That person literally just stood there talking to people instead of cleaning up the tables. The only clean table was by the door and it kept getting opened while the next band set up so we just moved to a table with dirty glassware on it. The drinks were pretty lackluster (especially compared to the awesome ones upstairs). I don't think it was that the menu was inferior to the other, I just think the bartender didn't care. The pepitas with the pistachio butter and beets were excellent, and the burrata added a creamy touch. We also tried the frites and fondue.
