No I don't recommend this restaurant! I have tried it twice and both time have been miserably disappointed in the service. The price is always surprisingly expensive and generally when the total comes inevitably wrong. Often something we didn't order is added and you have to hassle getting removed from your ticket. The ambiance is lively and fun. However most the staff are standing around at the front in the bar gossiping. It's really annoying to hear them gossiping about guests! Bad Bad Bad manners! They talk too much and don't serve food in a timely manner. To wait an hour and a half is ridiculous. In general, the food preparation is ok. Fresh, but ok. My suggestion would be to dress up the presentation more than just putting it on the plate - it's an art that makes good Sushi special, and this doesn't do it for me! While it's decent, for Montana, it's not west coast Sushi and service staff needs an overhaul. Less gossip, better staff service with attention to the customers order, more timely service, more accurate orders. read more

We started with the edamame and spicy edamame as appetizers. Both were good, but we were a bit surprised by the price difference. The spicy edamame was $10 while the regular was $5, even though the portions were the same size. The spicy version also wasn't very spicy, more of a sweet and sour flavor. For our main order, we tried six different rolls, each priced around $16-$18. Unfortunately, the rolls had very little fish inside, and it was difficult for my family and me to taste the fish at all. I must admit I had very low expectations about getting sushi in Montana, but Seven has proven me wrong! Online reservations were limited, however there seemed to be plenty of tables when we walked in for dinner. The restaurant feels slightly upscale, but casual enough for a comfortable atmosphere. Price is as expected for sushi. There were several interesting combinations that hit the right spot. Ziggy Stardust was my personal favorite, delicious in both flavor and texture. Strawberry Fields was another unique combination that pleasantly surprised us. We also ordered a Salmon Poke, Hammer Roll, and Big Sky Roll - all were pretty good. They did charge us an extra $1 when we asked for a side of spicy mayo and will charge a 2.5% fee for credit cards. All in all this is a pretty good spot and we had a great time! read more

I usually love Seven Sushi and go there almost every week, which is why this experience was so disappointing. My boyfriend and I came in around 9:20 PM, and the restaurant closes at 10. Shortly after being seated, I overheard our server go into the back and loudly say, "Why did I get sat? Oh my god, I don't want to help them."That immediately made the entire experience uncomfortable. We felt rushed from the moment we sat down and like we weren't welcome there at all. We couldn't even enjoy our meal because it felt like we were being pushed out the whole time. To make it worse, only a couple minutes after our food arrived, he came back asking if we were done, if we needed boxes, and brought the check almost immediately. I've worked in restaurant service for 10 years, and regardless of how close it is to closing, that's something you never say within earshot of customers. Usually the staff here is amazing, which is why this stood out so much. I had never seen this server before, so maybe he's new, but this was honestly a 0/10 experience and enough to make me reconsider coming back. read more

Food was super delicious, we had the calamari for an appetizer and it was amazing. For my main course I ordered the Sesame Street roll and the steak teriyaki dinner which tasted delicious. The only issue was service. It wasn't super busy however our food took almost an hour, during this time we were not acknowledged by the staff for the wait. We have been to seven 5-6 times over the past year, it was always great. Yesterday, however was so disappointing and honestly gross. First off, our server was lovely, she is not the reason for this. The food was so mediocre. I ordered two naked ninja rolls, my husband ordered a burger, my kiddo ordered chicken tenders. Food took over an hour to arrive. When it did, kiddos tenders were cold, one of my ninja rolls was prepared correctly, the other had plain tofu in it without tempura that was just gross. And then my husbands wagyu burger was honestly disgusting, it was charred beyond recognition, the "lettuce" was old and wilted, the onions (which we asked not to have on it) were slimy. It was a $21 dollar burger that was worse than what they serve at Jack in the box at 2 am. I told the server about the sushi issue and the manager took off our sodas? I appreciated it but the kitchen was so bad yesterday we definitely won't be back. read more

Service - Exceptional, friendly and timely. Teegan? She was very attentive. Food - Mediocre, I am trying to be considerate that this is a land locked state with limited diversity and accessibility. The sushi I had doesn't make me want to come here again and I would not be recommending this to anyone I know. I am sure if you are from the area and never left this would be a delicious option. Perhaps that's brash. I haven't had sushi that has impressed me since moving to the area although I will say I have had better. Well to start I will say everyone there seems very polite. They were very apologetic for the length of time it took and my having to wait. The facility was very nice appearance was neat and clean. Everyone looked to be respectfully dressed. For the food. We ordered sushi. I was not impressed. Very low quality. The beef in one roll was extremely overcooked and ate like shoe leather, which was a shame as it was supposed to be wagyu. The salmon I ordered it raw which it was but it felt like they had slice of filet covering the roll as it was very thick and for raw salmon seemed quite warm. The rice was very dry and a bit crumbly. Made it a little difficult to eat with chop sticks. Let alone just as a whole piece. The shrimp were over cooked made them very tough and chewy. This sushi restaurant has been open for many years and there were lots of people in for lunch on a Monday. The lunch menu Has good combinations. We had a tofu bowl, California maki and edamame and all were solid. I liked the modern vibe of the space and the option to dine in or out. read more

Ive eaten here twice and both of my experiences have been great! The first time I went I had the Jaw dropper roll and the tonkatsu Ramen. Both were fantastic! My second time I had the Green dream roll and the Udon with Local Waygu Beef. I'd definitely recommend the Green dream roll. The staff are very friendly and sociable if you sit at the bar or the sushi bar. The space is large with lots of seating and the abundance of staff keeps the place very clean. A Sushi place is not what I would expect out of Bozeman, Montana, but you're missing out if you don't try Seven! (Also, if you bring your lift ticket from one the the nearby ski areas, they give you a free draft beer) read more

We ordered 5 random rolls and you would think one would be good but sadly not one roll was good. The only good thing I can say about this place was the water was good. I've been to Seven about seven times now. I only go because my friends like it there. But the food is consistently awful. What nobody ever comments on is the one thing that makes sushi good--the rice. The kitchen has no idea how to make sushi rice. It's always overcooked, even crunchy at times with no sushi rice flavor at all. The rice just destroys everything they serve with it. And if the sushi wasn't already horrible, they continue to cut food cost by slicing the fish so paper thin you can see through it. Then they drape it over the nigiri to make it look like you're getting a huge piece of sushi when there's hardly anything there. I don't want to insult my friends by telling them we're eating in a dump so I don't say anything when we're there. I've also never understood why escolar is on the regular menu. Eating escolar can cause keriorrhoea (a form of diarrhoea) in some people. These fish contain an indigestible wax which is a natural laxative. It should only be served when you can get a particularly good sample. If it's on the regular menu it's impossible for it to be good every day. Even in Japan, you will never see escolar on a regular menu. And after the two deaths at Dave's Sushi last year, why would Seven even take a chance with escolar. Makes no sense at all. read more

We went to Seven to celebrate a friends birthday. I was blown away with the food and the excellent service. The interior of the restaurant is a bit asian, industrial and very inviting and cozy. The menu is extensive with plenty of choices, lots of sushi and sashimi, seafood, dishes with tofu and more. We started with drinks, the Plum Sake is dangerous it is so good. We shared the Jawbone Sushi plate, filled with crawfish and a cajun cream cheese. Calamari was perfectly cooked, crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside, it was served with a soy sauce dipping sauce. We also ordered the sweet potato fries, topped with a soy sauce glaze and a wasabi aioli. The sweet potatoes looked like the game jenga, it was beautiful and the fries were crunchy on the outside, a bit tangy with the glaze and spicy with the wasabi. Truly unique! For dinner, we had more Jawbone rolls, Miso Salmon over rice and I had the Teriyaki Tofu with lots of veggies over perfectly cooked rice. It was absolutely perfect. The tofu was cut into little pieces and the veggies were crunchy and fresh. The rice cooked so well. What is a birthday celebration without dessert. The special that evening was a dessert sushi, rolled exactly like sushi, but the middle was filled with rice, sliced mango and pear with a piece of rich chocolaty brownie, the outside was a very light pastry, crusted in coconut, served with vanilla bean ice cream and topped with tiny pieces of chopped fruit. It truly was an excellent meal and the best birthday celebration. read more

This place has really gone downhill, and the quality of the food is hit or miss. We had lunch there today and it was terrible. One sushi roll was seasoned terribly and we couldn't even eat it. The other, a cooked roll, had obviously been sitting out for a while before we received it, and was cold and gummy. It also took forever to get our food which was ridiculous for how many people were there. We should've taken a hint by the half empty restaurant. We told our server about the quality of the food twice and all he did was apologize. Again we couldn't even eat one of the rolls. He did not take it off the bill. And be careful of Dave's sushi in BZN, where 2 people were killed & 41 poisoned by their sushi couple years ago- had put RAW morel mushrooms in their sushi!
