The drinks and dessert were the best parts. We dined at Brigade for our anniversary dinner. I had high hopes; but, unfortunately, it wasn't great. Some parts were better than others though. I'll start with appetizers. We ordered oysters and a baguette. The oysters were good but I found the mignonette lacking flavor. There was nothing special about the baguette. We were given two options for compound butter and asked if we could try both. The sweeter of the two options was better and we were charged for the second. My husband and I both ordered ribeyes with chimichurri for our entrees. Both steaks were overcooked and not at all tender. We've had better at more affordable restaurants. I ordered the "Boss Nova" cocktail, the flavors were okay for the most part but it was severely watered down. My husband ordered the non-alcoholic "Cream Dream" and had the same response. The dessert was definitely the star of the show. We opted for the Banana Tarte Tatin and Kladdkaka. It was definitely the highlight of the entire meal. Food aside, the restaurant was a little noisy, which was to be expected. The part of the experience we primarily found lacking was the service. Taylor was an excellent server. She made good recommendations and was delightful. I had the branzino curry which was just enough food. The celeriac is a fancy Cole slaw atop the filet. The rice in green curry sauce was most flavorful. The star of the evening was the Melon Cucumber Gazpacho which was savory and refreshing. I had the eggs Benedict and it had no flavor other than egg yolk. Sign of a bad hollandaise sauce... and dry roasted little potatoes. Soooo dry! I went to the bathroom and on the way back I saw the potatoes sitting in a huge bowl (open air kitchen). They aren't fresh at all and you could tell! I'm not masterchef, but I can cook a potato. Drinks were good. Staff was 7 out of 10. Seemed a little spaced out or something. Multiple visits and each time great service, fantastic food - love the chicken & waffles!

We came here thinking they had halibut on the menu however when we arrived and checked out the menu it was not being served. We were sat immediately on the back wall by the bar and the young man brought us water glasses . We took a few minutes to review the menu and watched a server attend to another table seated after us. Then about 3 minutes later "our" server showed up to fill water and take the order. We placed the order for the Petal Pusher and waited for her to come back so I could inquire about the burger ....we were able to order them so 2 with no lemon aioli. We also ordered the charcuterie board for a starter. We did ask for straws for our drinks but were unable to use them because our server brought them with her bare fingers close to the top. I feel like after Covid we've been hyper vigilant about cleanliness and germs. It's easy enough to use a napkin to pick and carry the straws. I also ordered a sprite because they didn't have Pepsi and she brought me a coke. However the food was actually great and we really enjoyed the atmosphere. read more

Brigade First day in Bozeman, my brother suggested dinner at Brigade. When you arrive at 233 East Main Street you will need to go to the second floor. Stairs and elevator available. Beautiful restaurant with plenty of dining and bar space. We had a great waitress, and even the bartender (Cody) was specific to make sure our drinks were made appropriately. We started with the bison dumplings. My sister-in-law had the kale salad which was delicious (we all got to sample). We shared the calamari linguini with chorizo. Please tell me why we were charged an extra $2 for sharing a baguette that is literally under the "shared" section of the menu. It didn't even come on two plates or with two sets of utensils. Absolutely ridiculous. Service was also very slow and had to wait ten minutes to get a knife for the steak after we had already been served our food. I would not recommend. read more

I recently came here for my birthday dinner to have a nice meal with my close friends and family, however this meal was anything but nice. We waited about an hour for our food and on top of that there was a lot wrong with the meals. One plates mashed potatoes was so cold it seemed more like potato ice cream. The Bison Poblano was so bland my mouth needed my bar drink to save my tastebuds, but the drinks also too about an hour to come out so i could not even do that. After coming here a couple years ago and received great service and food i had very high expectations but was exponentially let down. On top of the overpriced food and 20% gratuity charge, The only redeeming part of the night was how nice and apologetic the server was. Safe to say i will not be returning here. read more

One of the best gems in downtown Bozeman. We stumbled on this place our first day in town and lucked out because it just so happened to be Happy Hour! What a freaking deal! We got $3 mixed cocktails and beers. Yes, you read that correctly. Let me say that again. THREE DOLLAR COCKTAILS! Food was good but, the menu said smash burger and we were given a regular burger. When we made the waitress aware she said "yup", that's a regular burger. We also ordered the linguini with calamari but asked if they could hold the calamari and just add some veggies. The waitress said, "sure". When the dish arrived the pasta was fettuccine AND she just added the veggies to the calamari. When we brought it to her attention, she denied the pasta change and was surprised there was calamari in the dish but never offered to take it back or take it off the menu. Summary: wonderful food and cocktails, still ironing out a few kinks in the service. Dinner for two the other night. The beer I wanted from the menu was not available so had to settle with a bottle. Our drinks came promptly and were good. Regretted not ordering a cocktail because I saw some real winners coming from the bar, and the bartenders looked quite proficient. I should have known we were going to have an issue when we ordered our entrees from a different server who came to our table after order an appetizer. Yes, the entrees came *before* the burrata. To their credit they comped us for the app. Also to their credit the burrata was excellent, the tomatoes were really flavorful, but could have used another piece or two of bread to go with it. My bison short ribs were quite possibly one of the best red meat dishes I have had in my lifetime. The meat falls off the bone, huge portion, and the flavor of the meat, sauce, mashed potatoes and carrots were wonderful. The carrots were perfectly cooked. My companion had the trout cake which was a generous portion and had a lot of fish, not overwhelmed with bread crumbs. We ordered another beer halfway through dinner, but our server disappeared for a long time and the beer never arrived. Thankfully they took that off the bill too. Wonderful food, but make sure you don't have any service slip-ups. I would definitely come back again the next time I'm in town. read more

First of all I've worked in restaurants so I never complain to wait staff but I realize this time I should have. Food and service were both shockingly bad. FOOD: Fiancé had the bison short ribs and the actual rib bones were shattered. She had bone fragments in almost every bite. She tried to pick it apart and pick through it but gave up pretty quickly. I had the pork ribs and they are BY FAR the worst ribs I've ever had in my life. So tough it was basically like eating extra dry beef jerky. The flavor of them was just burnt. SERVICE: our waitress came by our table to get our order, drop off drinks, and pick up food/drop off the tab. Never came to ask if we wanted another drink or refill the waters. When she came to get the food we let her know about the ribs (you probably don't want to have someone choke on a piece of bone and die) her response was "well it looks like you ate almost half" which is code for "well aren't taking this off of your tab. (1. We weren't going to ask for it to be taken off, just thought that was information you needed to have. 2. She hadn't eaten anywhere close to half. She had torn it apart looking for pieces she could potentially eat.) I didn't even bother saying anything about my full plate of ribs I hadn't eaten after that and she didn't bother asking why I didn't eat them. We went cheap and with tip (yes we still tipped) our bill was $110 and it was the worst meal I've ever had. Bozeman is really hit or miss on good restaurants but Brigade is the worst and it's not even close. read more

I visited Brigade on Saturday night around 6:30 pm and was greeted by the host with an unpleasant attitude. I also noticed the smell of alcohol on his breath, and he was drinking from a metal cup, which seemed like an attempt to conceal it. This should have been a red flag, as the night only went downhill from there. On the positive side, the food was good, and our server was very friendly. However, the experience was marred by the host, who was loud and rude toward other staff members. Since we were seated near the host stand, we couldn't avoid hearing it, which really detracted from our evening. Given the price of everything and the generally nice atmosphere, you'd expect better behavior from someone representing the front of the restaurant. read more

Update: I gave this a 4 star, but downgraded it because it just seems like management doesn't care all that much. All of the bad reviews from the past year say the same thing and yet you still have slack, lolligagging servers ignoring their tables. On to the review: Food was outstanding. Ambiance is great. Would have been 5-stars but Sarah's service was just a solid D- slow, disinterested, spent more time gabbing with coworkers than tending to her tables. Maybe she was having an off night, but she was cheerful enough lingering at the expo station talking to her coworkers, but would walk by and address us without even looking at us (later, after reading other reviews, not so sure it was an off night). It was kind of weird. We were completely done with our meal and she stood 3 feet away kvetching with one of her coworkers about other customers...
