    Baked bri
    Robert E.

Very disappointed. The food was just not that good. First the lobster bisque is spicy, like really spicy and it doesn't say that on the menu. It over powers the lobster and there is no point in using the "fine herbs" with something that is going to make you sweat. My dad had to send it back. The replace, french onion soup, did not hit the mark. It didn't have a lot of onion flavor and generally lacked the complexity of the dish. The baked bri we had was ok. But it was just a stacking of honey and nuts which could have been enhanced by salt or spices or something. the bri itself just seemed middle of the road in flavor. The biggest disappointment was my halibut. I thought an upscale joint where you pay $50 for a piece of fish would not over cook it. It was dry; also the only flavor I really got was parmesan, the pesto didn't do much. The broccoli was good-it was chared and seasoned. The guests i was with report there steaks we fine-too salty though-cooked nicely. There was also a lobster tail that was cooked correctly and dipped in butter. An order of beef cheek bourguinon was adequate but not really for this price. Overall I say, dont risk it for this price. I am not confident in it what I would get.

Located in DTN BZN right on Main Street - very easy to find. Arrived at 8pm on a Saturday night. The place was busy, but not full. We were greeted promptly and got a table right away. There is a mix of high top seating and standard tables. The ambiance is modern - open space, nicely appointed. Our a waiter was friendly, engaging, and not intrusive. The menu is not large, but covers a lot of options. We opted to share several items: Crispy Cauliflower - very good. Crisp on the outside and soft on the inside Steak Frittes - very good. Sirloin steak (med rare and tender). French fries are crispy and slightly salty Crispy Brussel Sprouts - Brussel sprouts mixed with bacon and apples. Not sure what the sauce was, but it was really good. The wine list was good as well. Some nice choices at reasonable price points. We had a good experience. N*joy!

What a fun little surprise! We were greeted with a warm welcome and seated immediately. I ordered the steak frites and my husband the burger. A burger is a burger (but my husband would disagree, he loves a good burger). The burger was great although he was hesitant because it was being served on an English Muffin! My steak was SO tender I didn't even use my knife! Delicious! And the fries were also cooked to perfection! I'm such a french fry snob, if I'm gonna use my calories up they better be good! They made it worth the calories! All in all a very nice dinner out and then we enjoyed down town Bozeman!

Clearly NOT a ribeye. Waste of $110. Chewy as the sole of my shoe.

Utter disappointment. You spend over $100 on a single steak and it should be tender, properly cooked, and properly seasoned. This steak was none of the above. Watch the video I posted to get an idea of what I'm talking about. Terrible. Was supposed to be a 29 day dry aged ribeye, but it was clearly a strip steak and it was terrible. What's worse, the servers also had no idea if they were serving the correct cuts... Also, the French onion soup was not worth it. Loads of uncaramelized onions in the bottom of the bowl, just pathetic. EAT ELSEWHERE and thank me later.

As good as a meal as I have ever had. Truly fantastic! Ribeye was unreal. Just an unbelievable meal. Thank you!

Really big restaurant but does a great job keeping it nice and cozy. Good for a date night or dinner with friends. What I got and recommend: - steaks ( get a steak!!! I did order mine medium rare and it came out more on the medium side though :(... I got the beef filet!) - Caesar salad (classic crisp and refreshing) - carrots (surprisingly delicious) - fries Overall a 4/5. Really good spot to try if you're visiting Bozeman!!

Being in Montana, compelled us to seek out a nice steak dinner and we landed at Open Range. The dining room is nice, floor tables spread out which I appreciated. We had a reservation (not sure if you need one) and were promptly seated upon our arrival. They had some interesting craft cocktails on the menu, so we started with that. Mark's Old Fashioned & a Party Dress. Both very tasty. They kept our water glasses full which I am very fond of! We split a Caesar salad and both ordered the Waygu sirloin. My friend got hers Diane style, I did the Whiskey Onions and Horseradish. We also ordered the bread service for $6 (skip it, not worth paying the $ for 5 small pieces of unmemorable carbs). The salad was very good, the steaks juicy and delicious. They came with fingerling potatoes (meh, maybe upgrade to one of the other starches?) and carrots. We loved the photo's of all the local Bozeman dogs on the all, like really loved it since we are dog obsessed. Our service was very good and friendly as well.

4 stars for cocktails, 3 stars for food Atmosphere/service: parking is on the street. The space is beautiful - wide, open, with seats at the bar where you can watch the bartender making cocktails. They have high tables and booths as well. Food/price: - Sautéed scallops ($23): served with couscous, sautéed asparagus, lemon mousseline, herbs, and preserved lemon aioli. Personally, I thought the scallops were overly salted - to the point where even my husband (who asks for extra salt packets with his McDonald's fries) said the same thing. It definitely needed a bite of everything else on the plate to really tone it down. The lemon aioli wasn't as lemony as I thought, I think more acidity would have been nice. The couscous was nice and fluffy. - 16 oz ribeye ($58): served with roasted potatoes, sautéed vegetable. The steaks are cast iron seared - which is why probably why I was just craving that grilled smoky taste. The steak was just okay, would prefer to make it ourselves at home. It was perfectly cooked to medium rare though. Cocktails/price: we actually mainly came here because their cocktail menu looked interesting. Ranges from $12-$14 depending on if you're getting an original or classic cocktail. The drinks were beautiful, I personally really enjoyed the Naked & Famous!

Tomahawk Ribeye Steak - this was off menu

Another year, another Valentine's Dinner with the GF. Wanting some steak like usual, and being in Bozeman, we stopped by Open Range. They had a special VDay menu that you can also order from. We ordered from both the regular and VDay menu. We ordered: 1) the VDay Beet Salad, 2) the cheese board, 3) the VDay Pork belly, and 4) the tomahawk ribeye (this was off menu and was informed to us by the waiter). 1) The Beet Salad came out first. Beet, leafy greens, and a citrusy dressing. Nice and healthy. 2) The Cheese Board came after. I love cheese, but I guess I found that I don't like good quality cheese. Nothing wrong with the cheese board, just personally not for me. 3) Next, the Pork Belly. Charred sweet exterior. Nice, juicy, and fatty when you bite into it. This was so good. 4) Finally, the Tomahawk Steak. Man this was huge. It was cooked medium rare. Charred exterior, tender and juicy inside. Geez. Amazing top notch steak. I definitely took the charred bone and ate the charred meat on it. So happy that they had this. Rating: 5/5. Overall, amazing food. Service was also amazing, our waiter served us really good. Nice, low-lit ambience. We barely did damage on the Tomahawk Ribeye - we only ate like 1/4 of the steak. We had them pack it go to, and here was where it was a bit weird... Later that night, craving for some leftover steak, we opened the box and found that they only packed like 4 slices of steak (like 1/3 of what we had leftover)??? Bummer. I'd say pack your food yourself lol.

The food quality was different from our last visit. My scallops were nice, but the risotto was undercooked. The filet was good, but the salmon was just ok. We ordered dessert and the cookie was burnt and rock hard. Our polite & hard working server was the best part of our experience.

Beef Cheese Bourguignon for the win!

The bartender was friendly and made us laugh a lot. She was also very good at her job and made us some excellent cocktails. We ordered from the cocktail menu, but she was ready to make whatever you wanted, except for a Captain and Mountain Dew because unfortunately they don't have Mountain Dew at the hotel. I hate to compare but it's crazy how different two places can be in the same hotel. The service here was abysmal. We came at the end of someone's set and it wasn't that crowded in the bar but almost every single table was dirty, with empty glasses on them. There seemed to be one bartender and another person helping. That person literally just stood there talking to people instead of cleaning up the tables. The bartender was pretty rude too and didn't seem to be into working here at all. The only clean table was by the door and it kept getting opened while the next band set up so we just moved to a table with dirty glassware on it. The drinks were pretty lackluster (especially compared to the awesome ones upstairs). I don't think it was that the menu was inferior to the other, I just think the bartender didn't care. Both my drinks were watered down and icy. Pretty sad for the price to be honest. It got pretty crowded for the second set being played so we decided to leave to let other people sit. To start, we waited on a Wednesday night for a couple minutes to be sat in a nearly empty restaurant. We ended up sitting at the bar (hoping the service would be best with an attentive bar tender), and began evaluating the menu. This dinner was a business meal with a client. My client ordered the chicken, and I had settled on the steak tartare. I was anticipating to purchase a bottle of wine and located exactly the wine that would pair amazingly, it was a gamay from the Willamette Valley. The waiter told me as I ordered that the steak tartare was small and would be a poor meal choice. After taking his advice, I still desired the gamay and settle for the Rabbit Roulade dish. The server then informed me that he believed that dish was sold out. He returned to tell me that the kitchen was out of that dish, and they had been for some time. Now I was left searching the menu struggling to find an option. I landed on the sweet potato gnocchi. I ordered the Gamay, and the server seemed to have no idea what that wine was. I handed them the menu and pointed it out. The server and bartender stepped away for a couple minutes as they stood at the end of the bar frantically looking in the wine cabinet. They returned to tell me they were also out of the wine I ordered. They then tried to sell me some other wines, but I decided I would rather just do cocktails since that was the only gamay on the menu and there were no burgundy/Beaujolais options. The food came out, and thankfully it was good and had great flavor. This was the only redeeming quality. I immediately asked for an order of cornbread since the sauce was good and demanded a bread to properly clean the plate. I slowed down my eating to enjoy the meal but also to allow the cornbread to come out. It took 25-30min before the server came back, and when I asked about it they went to check. They returned to inform me that the kitchen had made a cornbread but it didn't turn out good, so they were "re-firing" another. At about 40 minutes after the order the cornbread had arrived. My client had finished his meal, an I had finished all but a pool of sauce on my plate. Sadly, due to the time my plate sat idle and the sauce cooled, the sauce separated and split into a mix of butter and oil. This rendered the delivered bread useless for the intended reason for the order. The cornbread tasted okay, but with my meal or within twenty minutes would have been much better. The server and bartender did not check on us besides the aforementioned encounters. Again, the food was good. Based on the times and my own experience as a server, the cornbread I believe was never entered into the computer. The times did not match up for how fast the supposed second order came out in a restaurant with five other patrons in it. Between being out of food, out of wine, and the cornbread fiasco it was not a good business meal or look for an out of state visitor. I tried to be gracious, but again, from my experience as a server left me thinking a drink ($6 beer) or the cornbread may be waived given then totality of the circumstances.... Nothing happened. I was charged for all items and spent $101. I am a 25-30% tipper normally. Tonight I left $10... 10%. That was only because the food flavor was good, and the kitchen deserved that whole tip. If this was a date night, I would have not tipped at all. My 10% tip will be a 0% tip going forward for this establishment, as I will not return again. Order this food takeout, and hope they have what you want or move on. That's my opinion, because service is not good either. I found myself apologizing to my client, and that is an awful place to be. My client even commented, "I'm shocked you tipped and were that kind". When I explained the reason was for food quality he quipped, "yeah but that tip won't go to the kitchen like it should." That is not the conversation I want with a client after a business dinner!

I ordered the "Boss Nova" cocktail, the flavors were okay for the most part but it was severely watered down. My husband ordered the non-alcoholic "Cream Dream" and had the same response. The dessert was definitely the star of the show. We opted for the Banana Tarte Tatin and Kladdkaka. It was definitely the highlight of the entire meal. Food aside, the restaurant was a little noisy, which was to be expected. The part of the experience we primarily found lacking was the service. Our waitress very rarely checked on us and only refilled our water once. I'm bummed we had a lackluster experience. If we ever come back, it would just be for dessert.

We started with the beet and burrata salad, which was full of yummy complimenting flavors and fun textures. I think it could have done without the yellow peppers but I just ate around those. The pepitas with the pistachio butter and beets were excellent, and the burrata added a creamy touch. We also tried the frites and fondue. The fries were thick and browned how I like them, but the fondue wasn't my favorite and was a little too overpowering in flavor for my taste. The parmesan on top of the fries was a nice touch. For beverages I had a local pale ale from Bridger brewing that was crisp and went well with the meal, and my partner tried the rotations shrub (peach), which she said was just okay. The star of the show was the arrabiata pasta made with vodka sauce and Calabrian chilis. The pasta was cooked perfectly Al dente and was well sauced, truly delicious. The ambiance is nice, and the service was fine. They checked on us frequently but not entirely friendly, maybe our waitress was having a bad day. The meal was a little on the pricier side but I felt the happy hour prices were fair. We would return when visiting Bozeman.

The place is "underground" so to speak - so it had a very attractive setting for dinner. The bar area is HUGE. Great selection of local MT brews which is always a plus in my book. My daughter ordered the Cooper Burger ($19), SIL ordered the Bison Ragu ($29), my bride ordered Brussel Sprouts ($16) and I ordered the Pan Seared Trout ($29). Everyone was very pleased with their selections. I personally loved the trout - it's seasoning and was cooked to perfection...along with the broccolini and sweet potato hash it was a great choice. Service was super friendly from Kendra. We recommend and would definitely come back again!

For dinner I had the special which was short ribs with a huckleberry sauce, served with potatoes and broccolini. The short ribs literally fell off the bone and the steak knife wasn't needed. Highly recommended. The basement/speakeasy vibe was cool and several locals were dining beside me (good sign!). If you are headed to Big Sky country definitely put Copper Whiskey on your restaurant list. (There are many excellent options!)
