Updating my review. Still 5 Stars! The French Onion Soup is the very best I have ever had (3 times now) A trip to Bozeman isn't complete without a stop in here. Cheers!

Great place in the downtown area of Bozeman. The place was busy and initially we were told it would take 30 min to be seated but a spot opened up quickly so that was kind of cool. I loved the decor inside; everything had a cowboy rancher feel and it made me, as a tourist, feel like I was experiencing something local and cherished. The food was good. I was warned the inside of my burger might be cold when I ordered the Marias burger medium rare, but it wasn't at all. It was perfectly done. It was my first time having a bison burger too, and it was delicious. Cheddar cheese was a great choice to pair with this burger. It was a filling meal and I felt quite satisfied with it. The only reason there are four stars and not five is because there was no option to order a burger along with fries. Everything was "a la carte," as it were, which meant if I wanted fries I had to order them separate. My friend and I split our fries. They were good but it just seemed odd not to offer fries as part of the meal package when most people will want them as a side anyway. Otherwise, great place. If I'm back in Bozeman I'll be sure to stop by, once again.

One of the best burgers I've ever eaten! My husband agreed! The burgers at backcountry are so flavorful and the toppings compliment them so well. I've also never been to a burger place that makes their own buns, they were so light and airy! We also tried the fries and cheese bites, amazing! We will definitely be back when we visit Bozeman again.

Cute logo. I wish they sold shirts too!

Good burgers, beer, fries and staff. I really like a burger that's not 3/4 of a pound and falling apart. This was a solid 1/4 with a bun and everything was edible. I got the backcountry and date got the one with jalapeño and cream cheese and we split fries as we weren't over hungry. We were both satisfied and happy.

I was hesitant about the Calamity Jane because of the cream cheese, but our server convinced me to try it and I'm glad i did! The burger was absolutely delicious and one of the best I have ever gotten out. Similarly to other reviews, the cheese curds are a bit skimpy for the price, but taste delicious and worth the splurge. Also, the brussel sprouts were delicious and perfectly flavored.

The food here was phenomenal! I particularly enjoyed the cheese curds. It tasted like the ones I loved from Wisconsin!! The service was great. Our waitress came by enough, but didn't feel like she was hovering. The restaurant is pretty casual.

Service was great. Food was okay - didn't quite hit the spot. We each ordered a burger and shared a kale Caesar salad. The Stillwater (veggie) burger was falling apart with each bite and I was hoping the Backcountry Burger would be more flavorful. Despite the food being mid they have a nice selection of beers and I was glad to see several sour options available.

This place was dee-lish! I got the French Onion soup and the burger. The service was fast and friendly. The French Onion soup was very tasty and the Parmesan was crusted on the side of the bowl just the way like.

The bison burger was delicious. I had the onion rings, not like I have ever had before. Very thin strips. Very yummy. Service was good too.

Great food Great…read morevibes Good service This place can be girls night out, dude meet up, family gatherings or date night. The wait is not that long.. we came here as walk in's 2x on our 1week stay that started in Bozeman, went down to Yellowstone, then to Idaho for UTV riding and then to Jackson Hole WY to go see the Teton National Park. It was nice to walk around the local shops while we waited and then afterwards to work off those delicious carbs. Thin crust pizzas clean, fresh, not heavy and seasonal ingredients. The crust is soooo good. Chewy and some char. We had: Montana Burger Royale My teen son dreams about this. Yes its 27.00 and he said its the BEST burger he's ever had. I would have to agree (and we live in Austin TX where there's great cow) -the burger meat melted in your mouth -the egg dripping as you break the yolk was perfection. The bacon so juicy, the brioche bun (that was the winning touch) We shared: Hot Honey Pizza- so good 9/10 Spicy Burrata- also great. 8/10 Mac n cheese- that was the only miss. Way under seasoned and the white sauce seemed to get sucked up by the pasta so the dish was super dry. 3/10 Frites and Fondue- fries were great. Thick cut with finely shaved pecorino. Could have used a heaping more of the shaved cheese. -the fondue was ok, seemed still under seasoned or just not creamy enough? I'd swap that for some roasted garlic with the truffle oil. 6/10 Local brews and ciders were great! 9/10 Huckleberry Cheesecake 9/10 save room for this bad boy. We split it between 4 people. Not too sweet. Tart and delightful! The world cup was on the TV so it was a hopping place even as it rained during a late June evening. Parking garage nearby is free for 2hrs so thats cool! Come DT BZN and support local!

I wanted to take the chairs home with me. The whole place reminded me of downtown San Luis Obispo, CA. The Carne Frite was AMAZING. It's basically a piece of steak served with fries, but the steak was so flavorful I completely forgot about the fries. As a pizza connoisseur and meat lover, I also had to try the Carne Pizza. It wasn't the best pizza I've ever had, but definitely wasn't the worst either. The Montana Burger was really good, and the bacon was amazing. My only personal complaint: they serve Pepsi products and I'm a Coke girl through and through. Overall, great atmosphere, great food, and absolutely worth the wait. Highly recommend checking it out

It's located in a neighborhood off of the Main Street. It's in a newer building with two stories. It's open kitchen and trendy. Servers are friendly and attentive. Farm to table is a good start with me given the fresh ingredients. There's an eclectic selection of dishes to choose from. The menu is color coded to inform you which farm each ingredient originated from. We started with the radish salad. Super fresh produce! It's actually mixed greens with artistically carved ribbons of radish garnishing the salad. The spiced hazelnuts added a crunchy contrast and the dressing was a tart honey mustard. Honestly one of the best salads I've had in recent memory. You want a Middle Eastern dish, you got it. The lamb kebab rivaled LA Persian restaurants. Very flavorful with excellent spice and herbs. Portion size is also nice. What the heck, how about Mexican food. Braised pork tacos with adobo had excellent flavor. The beans were simmered with meat pieces and were very hearty. Don't know if I'll ever be in town again but this was a pleasant way to end the trip.

What caught me was the local charm, the attention to each detail - from the name, to the art, the glass, the kitchen, the blend with its surroundings and unique style. What also caught me was that it was a little spot kinda of hidden and truly only locals recommended, it wasn't in the hotel post card recommendations it was in the confidence of a restaurant server. And just like that I felt transported to this moment in time all mine; it brought me to my childhood as I see Felix the cat on the walls, it brought me to the comfort of homemade, the menu is fun and one of a kind - it has its own set of rules.
