We stopped here for a bite to eat while waiting for my sister at the airport. What a fun place! It's nothing fancy, but it's cozy if a bit of a divey spot. It's dog friendly inside, which was convenient for us. It's small on the inside so there's not a ton of seating or room, but enough to be comfortable. Our servers and the staff were all so friendly and nice! They were welcoming and attentive during our meal. The food is very home style and simple, but delicious. I'd recommend their special sweet breakfast (I'm forgetting the name) and their coffee is decent. The prices are cheap too for the amount of food you get. That's biscuits and gravy with choice of egg and meat. The biscuits were tasty and large. They were soft with a perfect hint of sweetness. They were almost perfect just a tad dry. The gravy was good with the right consistency. The eggs were perfect over easy and the yolk mixed great with the meal. Finally, I loved the bacon it was crispy goodness. I'm not sure if the nonchalant/don't give-a-F was a part of the service vibe, but everyone working just seemed like they woke up on the wrong side of the bed? Or maybe back home in California, everyone's always just perky? The food was 'meh.' Definitely something I could have made myself. Didn't think the hashbrowns had any flavour. Restaurant is on the smaller side so there's not a ton of places to sit. We sat at the bar and were served fairly quickly. It's very much take your order, bring your food, and bring the check. If you're looking for ambiance, the western cafe brings the heat. It's the most charming spot in Bozeman, in my opinion, and a great place to take visitors. The inside is chalked full of trout, moose, bear paraphernalia and it really gives you the western vibe that the name suggests. Better yet, the food is fantastic! I've tried the harvest scramble and the veggie omelet as well as their famous bobcat French toast. Although French toast is my favorite food and the bobcat style is amazing, it wasn't my absolute favorite. I do love the savory menu items I've tried and the portions are very generous. We went on a busy Sunday morning as a table of 7 and were seated in roughly 30 mins. The space is small and cozy, but not uncomfortable and they offer counter service. The service was fast and we didn't have to wait long for food. Biscuits and gravy were delicious, more like a chicken gravy than a peppered breakfast gravy but yummy nevertheless. Got here early and we both had the Bobcat special. It's cinnamon swirl French toast. Very good. The coffee was also pretty good. Disappointed that we came too early for the cinnamon rolls. This is such a cool restaurant. We were looking for a place that's "Montana," and glad that we came here! I loved the interior decor. There are several taxidermy pieces, including the mythical jackalope, along with ranch brandings lining the walls. It was very busy inside, but we were seated right away at the counter. We ordered the usual breakfast fixings: eggs, a sausage patty, Polish sausage (another type of sausage and absolutely delicious), and hash. Their "Bobcat," which is their French toast, was also excellent. Bonus points for having decaf coffee! Everything was very affordable. Cool fact, apparently a number of celebrities are regulars here including Mr. Michael Keaton. I wish I could stay longer in Montana just so I could come back again. Ms Susan is the best ! Been coming here for years and as of late, started a tradition bringing my daughter here for breakfast since she was 1. she just turned 9 this past week. yesterday The hash browns was served undercooked (which my daughter and myself did not eat) , crispy on the outside but cold and under -cooked crunchy on the inside. the place was super busy and I had to feed a child. i Spoke to our male server about the discrepancy. He told me that they have a new cook and will fix it. No worries, next time they hopefully, it would be fixed. I went again this morning to see if there would be any change or fix. There was none. The other male server that did help me today, was super busy as well and and did not take well when taking my comment about the hash browns I hope that staff can take this message and can make the simple adjustments to make the place better. I had a very stressful experience here! We waited 45 minutes in the rain to get a table. Then she said she had a table ready. She would not seat us until the other two were there. No sign saying that policy or the rest the party would not have gone across the street to shop. Once our full party was there 5 minutes later waiting in the restaurant she did not come over once to seat us. We stood there for 10 minutes with the full party visible she sat another table of two at a table that would fit our party size. When I went to address her about this she said they were in front of us which is not true since she called us that our table was ready and they came in after us. Then kept interrupting me saying I should go sit at the bench and wait. There many wonderful restaurants to choose from in Bozeman that are nice and courteous. Stopped into Western Cafe while visiting Bozeman. The western, outdoorsy theme was really well done, rustic and cozy. It definitely gave off small town charm. I loved the inside so much! I ordered a cinnamon roll and an omlette. Unfortunately, the cinnamon roll was a letdown. It looked promising, but it mostly just tasted like plain dough with little to no cinnamon flavor. I was so bummed. My omlette and hashbrowns were great though! My boyfriend had the breakfast burrito. It was packed full and he really enjoyed it. He also agreed with me about the cinnamon roll. We had high hopes but that's okay! Our waiter was fine. He wasn't super personable and didn't really seem thrilled to be there but it worked. It can get very busy during peak times no matter the day of the week, we waited about 15 minutes. They are very efficient and got us in pretty quickly. This small town diner is incredibly charming and will make you want to sit in there all day due to its cozy, back in the day ambiance. I was visiting a friend in Bozeman. We decided to go out for breakfast, and specifically for biscuits and gravy, which is something we like to share. My friend found Western Cafe, so we decided to try it. The sign outside said that the restaurant had been there for over 100 years, under 2 different names. It's been the Western Cafe since the 1950s. Inside, it was just as, well, Western, as a Midwestern person would expect: lots of pictures of cowboys, horses and such, and lots and lots of wood. I loved it! We went there on a Thursday morning. We were a little concerned when the wait was 20 minutes, as we had some appointments later in the day. But, I'm pretty sure that we waited less than that. When we were seated, our server came immediately. We ordered the B n G special -- eggs, biscuits & gravy and meat. We also got a side of hash browns. Our order came out quickly. The biscuits were HUGE, as was the platter of hashbrowns. The sausage was obviously house-made and was delicious. The hashbrowns were fine, but I didn't think they were anything special. I was also amused by the tin cup that my friend's drink came in. The only real downside is that there are 3 very steep steps as soon as you open the door, so anybody with mobility issues would probably have a problem getting inside. I almost wish we hadn't gone there because I will now be craving those biscuits and I have no way to get them in Michigan! read more

Cute diner on East Main! Came here on Tuesday morning around 11am and was seated within just a few minutes. This western-decked out diner, definitely lets you know you are in the Midwest. When we were seated, our waitress came immediately and gave us the run down. We ordered a veggie omelet, breakfast sandwich (huge biscuit) and hot cake special. This cafe is fantastic. I am from California and am visiting a friend who took our group of 6 to this cafe on a fine Sunday morning. Off the bat, there is a very calm, small-town energy that is characterized by the tin posters, wooden infrastructure, diner bar, and small tables with wooden chairs. It was packed, but the six of were sat immediately. The staff was very straight to the point, kind, and felt family-oriented. After sitting down, the menus were given to us, and off the bat I could see reasonable prices, a classic diner menu, and my favorite, the eggs Benedict. Fresh coffee was served promptly accompanied by cream and sugar. Our group ordered, expecting a long wait time due to the amount of staffing and volume of food, yet the food came out in less than $10 minutes. My classic eggs Benedict was $16 and a side of French toast was $4 and both were superb. The hash browns were crispy, the eggs were placed perfectly, and the English muffins were soft and warm. The cinnamon roll French toast was a delicacy and melted in my mouth. I quite literally demolished my food, yet savoring every last bite. My buddies got some milkshakes which were about as smooth as a shake could get. All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed this cafe. Their operations were smooth and quick and still felt like a family owned hold-in-the-wall. They serve breakfast how it should be served and I am so happy we went here for breakfast. I was hoping for a coffee shop but Western Cafe held up to its name and is indeed a cafe. So instead of coffee and a couple of hours of wifi, I had coffee and a fantastic omelet and enjoyed my breakfast.
