Food was great. Gotta try the cinnamon roll French toast. Atmosphere is very nice and cozy. Staff was very personable and nice. Definitely gives a 'Cheers' vibe where everyone knows each other.

Stopped into Western Cafe while visiting Bozeman. The western, outdoorsy theme was really well done, rustic and cozy. It definitely gave off small town charm. I loved the inside so much! I ordered a cinnamon roll and an omlette. Unfortunately, the cinnamon roll was a letdown. It looked promising, but it mostly just tasted like plain dough with little to no cinnamon flavor. I was so bummed. My omlette and hashbrowns were great though! My boyfriend had the breakfast burrito. It was packed full and he really enjoyed it. He also agreed with me about the cinnamon roll. We had high hopes but that's okay! Our waiter was fine. He wasn't super personable and didn't really seem thrilled to be there but it worked. It can get very busy during peak times no matter the day of the week, we waited about 15 minutes. They are very efficient and got us in pretty quickly. This small town diner is incredibly charming and will make you want to sit in there all day due to its cozy, back in the day ambiance. We will definitely visit again in the future when we return to Bozeman!

Couldn't recommend this more! Was a great joint to swing by before flying out of Bozeman. The chicken fried steak is intimidating, but worth a try! I might recommend splitting it along with another entrée with someone else.

    Veggie omelette with hash browns

The food was good! Ordered a veggie omelette which was not only delicious but very filling . The restaurant is so uniquely decorated, it gives very western "Montana" vibes. The servers were so attentive and willing to accommodate our ask of splitting the bill as I was with a friend.

I was visiting a friend in Bozeman. We decided to go out for breakfast, and specifically for biscuits and gravy, which is something we like to share. My friend found Western Cafe, so we decided to try it. The sign outside said that the restaurant had been there for over 100 years, under 2 different names. It's been the Western Cafe since the 1950s. Inside, it was just as, well, Western, as a Midwestern person would expect: lots of pictures of cowboys, horses and such, and lots and lots of wood. I loved it! We went there on a Thursday morning. We were a little concerned when the wait was 20 minutes, as we had some appointments later in the day. But, I'm pretty sure that we waited less than that. When we were seated, our server came immediately. We ordered the B n G special -- eggs, biscuits & gravy and meat. We also got a side of hash browns. Our order came out quickly. The biscuits were HUGE, as was the platter of hashbrowns. The sausage was obviously house-made and was delicious. The hashbrowns were fine, but I didn't think they were anything special. I was also amused by the tin cup that my friend's drink came in. The only real downside is that there are 3 very steep steps as soon as you open the door, so anybody with mobility issues would probably have a problem getting inside. I almost wish we hadn't gone there because I will now be craving those biscuits and I have no way to get them in Michigan!

    Main dining area

This cafe is fantastic. I am from California and am visiting a friend who took our group of 6 to this cafe on a fine Sunday morning. Off the bat, there is a very calm, small-town energy that is characterized by the tin posters, wooden infrastructure, diner bar, and small tables with wooden chairs. It was packed, but the six of were sat immediately. The staff was very straight to the point, kind, and felt family-oriented. After sitting down, the menus were given to us, and off the bat I could see reasonable prices, a classic diner menu, and my favorite, the eggs Benedict. Fresh coffee was served promptly accompanied by cream and sugar. Our group ordered, expecting a long wait time due to the amount of staffing and volume of food, yet the food came out in less than $10 minutes. My classic eggs Benedict was $16 and a side of French toast was $4 and both were superb. The hash browns were crispy, the eggs were placed perfectly, and the English muffins were soft and warm. The cinnamon roll French toast was a delicacy and melted in my mouth. I quite literally demolished my food, yet savoring every last bite. My buddies got some milkshakes which were about as smooth as a shake could get. All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed this cafe. Their operations were smooth and quick and still felt like a family owned hold-in-the-wall. They serve breakfast how it should be served and I am so happy we went here for breakfast. If you are looking for a breakfast spot in DT Bozeman, look no further than Western Cafe!

Cute diner on East Main! Came here on Tuesday morning around 11am and was seated within just a few minutes. This western-decked out diner, definitely lets you know you are in the Midwest. When we were seated, our waitress came immediately and gave us the run down. We ordered a veggie omelet, breakfast sandwich (huge biscuit) and hot cake special. Everyone enjoyed their meal, I ordered the hot cakes so I will speak on that. It's a nice size pancake that was pretty delicious. It came with eggs and bacon (for my sister). Overall, pretty solid breakfast with friendly service. (We parked on the street, by the way.)

I'm trying to highlight the good spots I'm enjoying while I'm in town on business. Not every place is tasty, like any other town. We shared everything at the table and I would happily eat every dish again. Really great spot. Haley was our server and was amazing. They were very busy but were communicative about it so it was an easy lunch. I'll be back!

This breakfast cafe has been around forever. The decor is all about Bozeman/Montana and the diner is a must visit to get that feel. The food was good and hardy.

I was hoping for a coffee shop but Western Cafe held up to its name and is indeed a cafe. So instead of coffee and a couple of hours of wifi, I had coffee and a fantastic omelet and enjoyed my breakfast. Super service from a friendly waitress and a delicious large omelet with a big pile of potatoes. There's no Waffle House out here in Montana, so we'll just make do with what we have. Yum! Several tables, elevated booths and an elaborate bar setup with a warm and very hustling staff. Hospitality is off-the-chart here and the Main St location is straight out of a cool mountain town set. We ordered the avocado toast and a simple plate of biscuits / sausage gravy. The avacado toast was stacked tall with guacamole, bacon, roasted grape tomatoes and an over easy egg. This was good but trying to eat it was a challenge due to size and ingredients. There was a small side green salad. The biscuit and sausage gravy was also stacked. You definitely get good value here as is evident with the families surrounding us. The gravy was almost overflowing the plate with a good uncious taste. The biscuit was dense, a bit dry and was just ok. The gravy was a home run. Jam is a great family breakfast option with the food almost over-flowing the plates. We ordered basic dishes from the appetizer menu and enjoyed them but not overwhelmed with taste. Even though I found it good, not great, I would encourage you to come here with a hearty appetite, and give them a try. NO ONE here is eating with a frown on their face and joint is jumping. JAM, I'll see you again on my next trip to a picturesque town on Bozeman, MT.

We stopped in after noticing breakfast burritos on the menu, and initially, the experience was off to a great start. Although the restaurant was busy, we were seated quickly and our drink order was taken right away. Unfortunately, things became less positive as our visit continued. While the menu only listed one burrito, we were told customization was an option, which we appreciated. However, despite arriving before several other groups, those parties were able to place their orders and receive their food before our server returned to take ours. When we were finally able to order, one member of our group selected the special, only to be told it was no longer available. After quickly choosing an alternative, the response from our server felt somewhat rushed and less than welcoming. Two of us ordered customized burritos, but neither came out as requested, despite an additional charge for the modifications. When we were asked how the food was and began to explain the issue, our comments were unfortunately cut short when the server walked away. While the food itself was decent, it was disappointing not to receive what we had ordered. Service remained inconsistent throughout the rest of the meal. Two of us had specialty lattes, and one had drip coffee. When her cup was placed at the end of the table for a refill, it went unnoticed, even as we observed refills being offered to other tables. At the end of our visit, we were not brought our bill and instead went to the counter to settle it. The checkout interaction felt brief and impersonal, without any inquiry about our experience. After leaving, I noticed a $2 "non-cash adjustment" fee on the receipt, despite having paid with a debit card, which the receipt indicated should not incur that charge. We truly wanted to enjoy our visit and support a local establishment, as there were several positive aspects at the start and the food itself showed promise. However, the service challenges, order inaccuracies, and billing concern left us disappointed. We hope this feedback is helpful, as with some improvements, the overall experience could better reflect the strong first impression we had upon arriving.

We only ended up getting three items: their celebrated huckleberry scone, a cinnamon roll, and an almond croissant. We really liked the scone, but that's probably more because we're big fans of huckleberries than anything about it being outstanding. The almond croissant was good, as was the roll, but they were both beyond flaky--too flaky--and crumbs and powdered sugar were flying everywhere. In hindsight, we wish we had gotten a savory item to round things out because, overall, nothing was bad but nothing was capital-G Great. The staff are super friendly and helpful, but there was no one bussing or cleaning tables, so everything was pretty unkempt. We think it's 3.5 stars, but we're rounding up because we really enjoyed the overall vibe of the place and can see ourselves coming back on future visits.
