5 of our friends got serious food poisoning at the same time after eating at Teca. One went to the hospital. They told the owner afterward and he said, "not my problem". Hard to get worse than that. One of them reported Teca to the Better Business Bureau and found out 6 others have reported them. We went for lunch and shared a nice chicken and corn chowder. She had the 3 cheese plate- you can choose your cheeses and they have various sizes. Although the smallest choice, she could not finish all the cheese, fresh fruit and toasted Italian bread. CHEEEEEEEESE. There aren't many places I can sit down, order a huge cheese plate, and be satisfied. Unless of course, it's Teca. I have had cheese arrangements from many different establishments, including the almighty Tria in Center City Philly, but none compare to the style and just downright tastiness of Teca's dairy adventures. They have a great selection of cheeses, and fun wines to go along with them. I usually opt for an oaky Chardonnay to go along with a bulbous selection of about 7 different cheeses. In the end, I am very happy. I always drool over their awesome blown glass "Tim Burton" chandeliers hanging over their main bar, they just dominate the entire dining room and really "Pop". The original bar is attached next door and is very cute to share a quiet drink with someone special if that's the vibe you are feeling. read more

Was originally planning to go to a different restaurant but I saw the food and it smelled great. So I decided to eat here instead. Ordered the Lasagna and the chicken parmigiana. The chicken was edible but it tasted weird. A little chewy and thin. Also badly breaded. The pasta also was cold which was a bummer since it tasted somewhat alright. The Lasagna was good, not the best lasagna but I can definitely say it's probably the best in west chester borough. I would not come back since the staff was bad and food was mediocre. We were regulars here but we've noticed that with the increase in the number of customers this summer, the quality of the food and drinks has slipped. It's not the best Italian food in town but decent. They pack you in here so if you're not vaccinated just be aware. read more

This was a great swanky little spot I've been here before. The food was really good definitely unique in its own presentation. The staff was very helpful although I'm sure we stress them out as there were 50 of us there in that room. I definitely would recommend going back the food is delicious. We ate at Teca's on Easter Sunday for brunch. The food was wonderful, as was the atmosphere. However, my husband ordered the "special", which was Dover sole. Portions were small and side dishes were very underwhelming. Our waitress Krista was very pleasant and attentive, but failed to mention that the Dover Sole was priced at $49!!! That is quite an oversight. My daughter did not want me to make a fuss, but that is a HUGE price for such a dish. Really loved the food and the restaurant! Ambience is awesome! Indoor seating is comfortable with live music and great outdoor seating too! We had the lobster ravioli and eggplant rollotini which were both super fresh..the cheese and stuffing would just melt in your mouth! My wife wanted to take me out for my birthday and she had eaten at the Teca in Newtown Square but we decided to go to the West Chester location because it is a little closer to our home. I went online to the restaurant website to peruse the menu because I eat a mostly vegetarian diet. Finding lots of vegetarian options, I made a reservation on Open Table and off we went. The restaurant was very crowded. There is a nice open bar in their front room with TV's playing college basketball and it's generally a warm and welcoming environment. We were seated promptly and that's when the problem became apparent. Because Friday was Valentine's Day, the restaurant had a special menu. This was not mentioned on the website and that would not have been a problem except for the fact that there was literally not one vegetarian entree on the entire menu. We almost left but the waiter pointed out that a couple of the dishes could be prepared without meat. One was a rigatoni dish that they were serving with a meatball and ricotta cheese, the other was risotto with filet mignon, asparagus and mushrooms. The waiter offered that the rigatoni could be prepared without the meatball or the risotto could be served without the filet. (Never mind whether the risotto was made with vegetable or chicken stock. I try to not be that rigid when dining out.) I ended up having a field green salad and the risotto. My wife had chicken parmigiana. The food was fine. The service was fine. I was billed full price for the risotto despite the fact that the filet was not included. (Hey, if you order a Caesar salad it's 10 bucks. If you want to add chicken, shrimp, scallops or salmon it's additional. But if you want a dish of risotto without the featured steak, it's the same price. Okay...) Would I go back there? I don't know. Maybe I will, maybe I won't. I think it's fine that they had a special menu but they could have handled this better in one of two ways. They could have had their webmaster add a feature to the front page of their website (maybe this would be a hassle for a special weekend menu) or they could have done a better job making sure that the special weekend menu was more representative of the regular menu so that folks who don't eat meat would have some options. Plus they could have knocked a couple of bucks off of the price of the risotto for removing the filet. That's my two cents. And their two stars. read more

The calamari here is atrocious; the lowest quality frozen stuff available. How can you screw up pasta? They regularly do. Al denté anyone? Don't count on it. First time at Teca. Had an early dinner, so place was quiet. Sat in a booth near the front door. Comfortable and conducive for my business dinner. First indication of a great experience was our server, Adrianna. Attentive, upbeat, and knowledgeable, and very personable. Made us so welcome, like we were regulars, or even old friends! Oh, and amazingly fast. From water to cocktails (perfect Woodford Old Fashioneds), to presenting the daily specials. Obviously very experienced. She even knew when not to interrupt our discussions. Very, very professional!! Our food was as good as the service. Grilled octopus appetizer, delicious. I had one of the daily specials, Red Snapper. Perfectly prepared and very tasty. My associate had Chicken Francese, a very large portion. Although he said he would never finish it, he completely cleaned his plate!! Teca has great outdoor seating! You can sit right on gay street and watch people walk by. The food is also delicious! They have great apps and salads. My favorite salad is the calamari salad, it's very refreshing and delicious. They also have a great selection of wines and home brewed iced tea which is always a plus. This place is good for larger parties especially the back room because it can be pretty private. The service is always fast and friendly. I went back to ask for more pasta and the server gave me a smirk and hardly added any pasta to the dish. Is this really the acceptable serving size? So I have wanted to try Teca for months. But we are always a little weary of Italian restaurants because my husband is allergic to basil (i know, I know. No one has ever heard of that as an allergy before, but belive me the struggle is real.) We decided to give it a shot on our first date night since our area went green. We went to the West Chester location and had dinner at one of the tables on the sidewalk. We let our waitress know about my husband's allergies and she assured us there were plenty of options on the menu. We ordered calamari and I had the lobster ravioli. My husband ordered the pork special, which did end up containing basil. However the kitchen bent over backwards to ensure that he could have that dish minus the basil. I came here on a Friday evening during perfect weather. We asked to sit outside along Gay street and told that all the tables were filled - but there were plenty open on the patio. The staff seemed quite overwhelmed when we walked in so I didn't push it. The manager who was in the host stand said they would seat us in the open window in their smaller room which was just being like outside. We agreed, walked into the next room and was seated no where near the window. Everything in this room was tight, unbelievably loud. The service was fine, food was mediocre. We shared the caprese tower which was totally soggy. I also had the salmon Caesar salad. Unfortunately the center of the salmon was undercooked. Service was fine. First time visiting this place. Was pretty disappointed with the food. I ordered the penne vodka with prosciutto. I will say, the sauce was great... BUT I took one spoon full and I could see the bottom of my plate, there was barely any meat and the peas were under cooked... considering it's a pricey dish, I expected a bang for my buck. I love this restaurant! This was hands-down the best restaurant that we found in Westchester. I grew up very close to Westchester and had been there several times in the past. However, I have since moved away and reside in South Florida. I hadn't been back to Westchester in a few years. This restaurant was extremely lively inside and I loved the design and architecture. Our server at the bar was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. He helped us in deciding what to order based upon what we were looking for. For an appetizer we had theProsciutto wrapped figs. This dish was phenomenal. We also had the tomato Capri. Everything was extremely fresh. Our waiter mentioned that many of the food items were from local farmers. My friend Tom, a dashing Bostonian, was in West Chester last night on business, and I thought I'd show him the best that town has to offer--which I consistently find is pretty damn good. I suggested Iron Hill Brewery and he said he had been there before, so we opted for Teca, new stomping ground for me, instead. After missing our exit off 202 south and having to turn around once realizing that, "Hi, we're in Delaware," we were really hankering for wine and finger food. We entered on the far right side of the establishment, which I'm told is the bar side. The crowd was congenial and the lighting good. Speaking of lighting, it's impossible to miss the two large, abstract chandeliers over the bar. All I could think was: installation art. They were a sight to see and added a funky touch to the already comfortably eclectic dcor. I must confess I am a bruschetta addict, and this place is the ultimate enabler. I started with bruschetta, the bread was toasted just right, with smoked salmon, goat cheese, and capers on top. Tom opted for the more traditional, no less amazing, bruschetta with sliced cherry tomatoes, melted mozzarella, and a generous amount of basil. My one disappointment came with the bottle of wine. It was Sauvignon blanc that tasted as if it had never officially been chilled. I continued with clams in marinara sauce and Tom with a cheese platter. Yummy yet smelly! I finished with a Caesar salad and Tom topped off with a panini--it was the only dish of his I didn't invite myself to try. He forked his way into my salad though. A nod to the service: the waiter was very concerned that my friend wasn't eating his sandwich, Tom assured him it was very good but he was also very full. Not too full for dessert though (thank God!) Tom had a sorbet sampling, and I had (brace yourself) a chocolate mousse and caramel pyramid with fruit and whipped cream. This everyone must try, it's not too rich and the portion size is perfect. Both the food and service were rather disappointing. I got the cavatelli and we shared the calamari. The calamari was as expected. Solid but didn't blow me away. The cavatelli was barely edible. The salt, oil and nuts were overwhelming. I know what pesto is and oil is expected but there was so much oil that I could only eat about 1/3 and I felt like I was going to throw up. Just way too much and crushed nuts are supposed to compliment not overwhelm. I either tasted way too much oil or way too much nuts, and yes, I did mix the nuts into the dish. I think the waitress might've been overwhelmed. To be fair, she was very kind and patient. The night started off well but we saw her less and less as the night went on. She forgot to bring my second glass of wine and our food (probably not her fault) I think took almost an hour. One person in my party mentioned it wasn't even busy as there were a few empty tables. I loved this place. I was working in the area and decided to have dinner solo in downtown West Chester. I picked Teca bc they have a great outdoor dining area and I was in the mood for Italian. This is the only real wine bar in West Chester, and it's local and and cozy inside, like a real neighborhood italian wine bar would be (or at least my Pennsylvanian notion of what it would be.) Point down because the owner is a jerk (daddy bought Teca for him) who hired my sister on as a waitress, but NEVER gave her waitressing shifts all summer- he just used her as a buser because he actually just needed one of those I'm assuming. Once, while training, she was having trouble opening a bottle of wine in front of customers so he coolly swung in to do it himself and he ended up spilling half the bottle on himself and was cursing. We ordered fried Brussel sprouts and bread for appetizers which took 45 minutes to come. Went to Teca on a quiet weeknight. They were dinged for service by others and our visit was no exception. Server was okay and quite pleasant but not particularly attentive or knowledgeable. My mixed drink was just meh, and when we ordered wine with dinner, it didn't come until halfway through the meal even though the place was pretty much dead and there was plenty of time. Further, I had a question about the wine and was assured it was dry. It wasn't and when I mentioned it to the waitress, she said, well, I like sweet Reislings so its dry to me. I pointed out that Reislings will say if they are dry (trocken) and had asked if it was a trocken, only to be met with a blank stare. But she knew all about the wine sourced from the owners' vineyard in Tuscany. Appetizers and flatbreads were just okay. I got what were fried stuffed olives and while they were probably prepared well, I would not get it again. The flatbread also was just okay. The wife really liked her salad and her lobster ravioli. Win! My pork chop was pretty good but tough and a bit undercooked. Finally, we skipped desserts but ordered espressos. No lemon peel twists, which we like. Fail. All in all, it wasn't a complete bust. Most of the food was pretty good, esp. the lobster ravioli, but the staff is simply not a professional or knowledgeable staff. If you like cute WCU students working as servers, great, but aside from the eye candy aspect (which the wife doesn't care about), service at Teca leaves a bit to be desired. My wife and I dropped in for a drink before meeting friends at another spot. Classy interior with a sexy serpentine style bar with stone top, Bold, vibrant colors and decor. I was feeling unusually boring and had a T&T with lime. My wife had a Cosmo and was pleasantly surprised. Great balance of ingredients, not too sweet, not too much cranberry, just a Cosmo like you make at home. We saw some of the food come out and we considered bailing out on our friends! Table side whole fish prep (Bronzino?) and healthy portions of pasta and salads. The bar is well stocked and from what I could see they have an extensive scotch collection. The only aspect we found to be a turn off was the staff. There was a lot of discussion about apparent unrest between bartenders and servers, grit teeth discussions, etc. I'm going to assume this is an unusually occurrence, but if I want drama I can watch The Jersey Shore.
