Excited to try new place by wildflower. Food looked and smelled good. Drove 35 mins to meet my wife and family for lunch. Empty tables everywhere - one table for 6 full of clean silverware rollups and trays - yet hostess kept advising 25 min wait. Entire patio was empty, one couple asked to sit there - was told there was a 15 min wait. I asked for a cappacino to go, as i was going to leave my family to go back to work after waiting 25 mins in a half empty restaurant. Then I decided I would just pay the $3 because I wanted good protein in my skilled. I am never rude when I ask for substitutions, and always end things on a good note, I even complimented her pretty pink lipstick. I would have given this place 3-4 stars until my waitress, Mariela, called me a perra under her breath. I said "thank you" when she cleared my plate and she said "you're welcome, perra". My boyfriend and came here for the first time today and we were impressed. It was busy, we had to wait 15 minutes to be seated, but it was worth it. I ordered the bubble waffle and it was the best waffle I've ever tasted. The cream became too much after awhile, but that was on me for putting all of it on. The strawberries on top were fresh and delicious. My boyfriend ordered the chocolate chip pancakes and they were the fluffiest cakes we have ever seen. The food is wonderful, I've been there several times. However, they are not at all allergy friendly nor are they willing to answer questions about ingredients to determine if the food is safe. My son has a tree nut allergy and we were unable to find out what was in the item he wanted because of a "proprietary blend". She was not allowed to tell me what's in the item he wanted to order. I can't order something without knowing what's in it for his health. I asked the manager if she could please verify the ingredients for me to know if it was safe to feed him and she told me she wasn't going to do that. She assured me the food was scratch made (which does not answer the food allergy question at all) and then proceeded to make negative comments about an alternative restaurant I was trying to suggest to my now crying 4-year-old child. It was a horrible experience for him and me. It's officially on my list of places that I can't take him because I don't know if it's safe or not. If you have a food allergy I would not recommend this restaurant. If you don't have to worry about that, go for it, the food is excellent and the ambiance is adorable. I was excited to try Teaspoon after hearing good things about it and checking out the menu but it fell a little flat. I will return and try other things. My go-to brunch places seem to be everyone's, and there is always a long wait, so it's nice that Teaspoon will take reservations. The service was A-okay, friendly but not above or beyond. Prices seem a bit high, especially for the sweet breakfast items. We were celebrating birthdays in my family, so we got mimosas, which were great, good bubbly-to-juice ratio. My sister ordered the famous bubble waffle, and I got the breakfast pizza, and we shared so we could each have savory and sweet. The pizza tasted good, but got soggy quickly because of the amount of gravy and the runny eggs. It was also really messy to eat but no biggie. The bubble waffle tasted like a fluffy pizelle, and it was much smaller and thinner than I expected. For the price, it should be more substantial. My mom ordered the Dutch baby, which was pretty good. It wasn't overly sweet, and the cast iron pan it's served in keeps it nice and warm. The atmosphere is nice, but we did get seated next to a loud group of teens, and the place does get busy on weekends. I'll give it a few more tries and perhaps an additional star later. For now, it's decent but I still prefer other brunch spots. read more

The eggs and cheese were good but also expected more of a cheesy taste. My friend said her omelette was excellent. We sat at the bar and the servers were attentive and friendly. The salad dressing was good flavor the grilled chicken was bland and have tough spots. The avocado toast had a fair amount of butter with avocado slices. This was odd to have butter with avocado. Teaspoon has awesome outdoor seating and a trendy, Urban vibe. While the food is good, I've never eaten anything that's truly blown me away. I have to start with the layout because it's my favorite part. The outdoor seating resides within a new, brick courtyard among other businesses. There's a fountain and you almost feel you're somewhere other than the desert. Orange Therapy--this gimmicky workout place--is right next door, so if you like people watching, you'll be glad to know folks are coming and going from their workouts fairly regularly. They don't intrude on your space or anything, but it's close enough to watch those poor saps getting ready to workout while you're gorging yourself on brunch. The inside is also cool. The tables and wall decor are very modern and feel like they belong in an east coast cafe. The food is solid, but like I stated above, I haven't really found my go-to meal. Oh, and I should clairfy; I've only been here for breakfast/brunch, so I can't testify to what's served after. This place is famous for it's "bubble waffle," which is what you'd expect it to be: a waffle with bubbles in it. I've never had it, but I've tried a friends and thought it was okay. I'm not much for sweet stuff, though, and it's around $10. I feel like that's a pretty big mark up for fried dough, and I'm more of a meat eater, so I've stayed away from it. The skillets are good, as are the traditional breakfasts. They just don't stand out to me. This place is definitely worth the try for the atmosphere alone. And if you like sweet breakfasts, you should really enjoy it. read more

When I asked about the time, I was told that the kitchen closes at 2:30 pm. Hmm... Guess that the young man could not tell time or had somewhere to go. Outside tables were not cleaned and the wind blew trash and food over the courtyard. Might be worthwhile to put an adult in charge of the business. We won't be back. Teaspoon is a unique breakfast experience. It's slightly pricey but well worth it. I have been here a handful of times and yet to get something I didnt thoroughly enjoy. From their popular bubble waffle which is a MUST if you've never had one before, to their chicken and waffles, and Vietnamese drip coffee. The staff here is very knowledgeable of each dish and helpful if you have a hard time making up you're mind on what to get. The restaurant is hip, modern, and clean. The only downfall is the wait time can be long, but that's to be expected with how busy they are. I find that if you get there closer to when they open the service is much faster. 5 out of 5. The food was amazing and the portion size was perfect. I couldn't finish my pepper skillet meal and took the left overs to go. The server was very nice and despite it being packed he was able to ensure our drinks were filled. I was very disappointed at the end when we received our bill and they double charged our bottomless mimosas. The waiter indicated the bottomless mimosas were not allowed to be shared even though this was never shared with us, and the menu does not specify it is for one person. We ordered one bottomless mimosa and two entrees as this has always been my experience at most places. Unfortunately despite not being told in advance and it not being clearly stated on the menu we were charged for two bottomless mimosas, $40 additional dollars we weren't expecting. I haven't had the chance to go back since moving, but if you live in Tucson or are just visiting you have to put Teaspoon on your list! First, all their pastries are made in house- if you're lucky they'll make Pie-Cake-N again for thanksgiving this year! It's DELICIOUS! Also, their chilaquiles are unmatched by any Tucson restaurant (or Las Vegas for that matter- I promise my boyfriend and I have done extensive research) I've never had a dish I didn't like. You can totally taste the love they put into each menu item. Not to mention, they take food safety seriously! Great breakfast, great staff! We've had breakfast here twice this week. We were seated immediately and the waiter attended to us quickly. We ordered the Chilequiles, fresh juices and Açaí bowl and everything was delicious. The only thing that I couldn't believe was that the staff was wearing flannel shirts.
