So disappointed with this, threw out coffees away. Based on the reviews I was ready to be wowed but unfortunately this was not it. We asked which were their most popular so we got one of each. The horchata, the mazapan and the brown sugar. All were not good. The brown. Sugar tasted like milk. No coffee taste at all and not flavor. The mazapan tasted like metal and we had them redo a different, which was nice that they did but the horchata wasn't good either. It tasted like pure cinnamon and had absolutely no coffee taste. Needless to say we were very disappointed. We I had hoped for better coffee given the reviews but maybe it was a fluke but whatever it was, we were left with no coffee and a bad taste. read more

It's been great to see Red Captain still serving the community since the new management take over. I enjoy the team now as much as the last and the coffee and food are still very good. Today I decided to use my Joe App and order ahead of time to pick up my Pumpkin Spiced Latte (hot with oatmilk) and also they have a freebie deal on their now til end of August. The space is one of my favorites in town even though it's harder to enjoy during the summer, as soon as it starts to cool down and or there is a cool day, this patio and outdoor space is phenomenal. Red brick coffee has burritos, coffee, and other drinks as well as vegan pastries from local bake Houldens Rise Above. There's a pet friendly space patio and a parking lot. Just going to start off with 12/10. Would come again. The owner/barista was SOOOOO nice and you could tell his conversation wasn't just to fill the dead air, it was because he truly wanted to get to know his patrons and make sure they had an amazing day. Wifey had an Iced PSL, and I had a Brown Sugar Oatmilk Latte, and we shared an Almond Croissant from a local vegan bakery that was amazing. We are from out of town, but just off of the interaction alone, the coffee could have sucked and he would've made us come back because you could see that he loves his customers. Ouch!! Sorry but I have to give this coffee spot a 3 against all the 5 star ratings. I was so excited to visit this coffee truck given the rave reviews. My son and I went for their seasonal latte drinks, Horchata & Pumpkin and I chose the Chai & Pumpkin. It was not good. Mine tasted watered down and I couldn't taste the pumpkin flavor coming through. My son said he did not detect any Horchata. It also left a sugary aftertaste. I had to throw it away after a few sips. It reminded me of those coffee chains that I am not fond of. Yes, I just said that. I feel bad as the owner was awfully friendly. But with all the 5-star ratings against my one 3-star rating, go and try for yourself. I tried Red Captain for the first time the other day and was delighted! The location is easy to access with plenty of parking. It's a coffee cart, but they have plenty of bench seating in the front, and access to the patio behind them with plenty of shade! The service was wonderful. I believe it was the owner who took my order and he was kind and fun to talk to and really takes the time with each one of his customers. I ordered a vegan oatmilk mocha and a berries and chico (with local elderberry syrup!) and of course a couple of Houlden's Rise Above Pastries. Everything was delicious! This place is a little gem that is always very consistent with their drink quality. Normally I prefer a refreshing cold matcha on a hot day as opposed to a mostly milky/creamy matcha. I think that Red Captain does a great job balancing between refreshing and creamy without overdoing the two. If you like floral drinks, add lavender and honey. Found this spot on a whim when another coffee shop I frequent was a little too busy, the gentleman that served us was so friendly and super welcoming. Red Captain Coffee Company opened in March 2021, but as I usually head out on lunchtime for an afternoon pick me up perk, I kept missing the truck. Open Monday's through Saturday's, 7AM to 1PM they are perfect for the on the way to work boost your day java. I went with my go-to order, a dirty chai latte with almond milk. The staff were SUPER kind and helpful when I walked up, wearing masks, and very appreciative for the business. My drink was delicious, and I don't say that lightly. I am so glad to have another coffee shop near the north side of Tucson, and will definitely be back, highly recommend checking them out and tagging them on social media.
