The place is well lit and plenty of tables for studying, My drink is lemonade with grass glass jelly and is not too sweet. The jelly was chewy and very good. I try a bit a their Sun Moon Lake tea was delicious. The staff is super friendly and very helpful. They even offer samples for the new comers to try.This might be the favorite from now on. I have visited a few times now and have finally decided to write about my experiences. I'll keep it simple. I have been to many maybe to many Teahouses around town and this so far has a consistent boba consistency and flavor. Most of the time boba is over or under cooked. Tea top has a good system going for them!! Apple vinegar w/agar jelly- Never had something like this before was very refreshing and somewhat of a cleanser. The problem is the sweetness definitely needs to be adjusted. Overall never had a drink like this before and would definitely give it a 2nd try with adjusted sweetness Passion Green Tea Medley- obsessed with Passion flavor teas but I am a bit picky when it comes to Passion fruit. I would want to taste that Passion fruit taste if not please call it artificial . TeaTop passion fruit great taste but again overly sweeten. I wanted 50% but was told , sweetness could not be adjusted Fresh milk with Honey boba- This was a featured drink I believe, saw the sign on the counter. Loved the fresh milk with the honey boba definitely a favorite. Boba cooked and flavored perfectly. Boba in this drink is different than regular boba. You get that QQ texture from these boba. Our friends keep telling us about their weekend brown sugar tapioca specialty drink so we decided to come after lunch in Chinatown. We got the "black pearl tiger" (lactose free milk with brown sugar tapioca) with grass jelly for $5. And our friend got the "black pearl tiger". The tapioca is smaller than the usual that you get at bubble tea shops and it was perfectly cooked. Soft but a little chewy in the middle with a strong brown sugar flavor. The grass jelly was slightly sweet and a bit firm. I think my favorite grass jelly is still from ShareTea. We got the drink without ice so it was a bit sweet for our taste. I would definitely like this drink better if it was less sweet; so I don't mind ordering this again, but with less sugar. MILK FOAM ALPINE GREEN TEA The girl at the counter recommended this drink to me. I ordered it 80% sweet with original milk foam. This drink wasn't bad. I wasn't in love with the milk foam because it was light and had coconut flavor in it, but it wasn't entirely bad. I'll try the cheese milk foam next time. The tea was a light earthy flavor, but it was very refreshing and I mixed it up with the milk foam after trying it and it tasted great. The combo of the sweet milk foam and the slightly bitter and earthy tea was great. It softened the earthiness of the tea. MILK FOAM EARL GREY TEA I ordered this drink with 80% sugar and cheese milk foam. The cheese milk foam was better than the original milk foam. It's more of a cheesecake flavor. It's sweet and creamy. It has a thicker consistency than the original and gives the drink a sweeter note. The earl grey tea wasn't as earthy as the alpine green tea, but the flavor was bolder. Overall, this drink was sweeter than the alpine green tea even though it's only 80% sweet; so if I was to order this again, I would choose 50%. MILK FOAM SUN MOON LAKE BLACK TEA I didn't like this drink very much. I also got it 80% sweet. It left a strange earthy aftertaste on my palate. Usually I'm okay with earthy flavors, but this one was a strange mix of earthy and sweet. Perhaps it's because it's black tea so it's more aromatic, but it's also more bitter than the green tea. The decor is super cute and I can see myself doing some work here, grabbing a drink and getting something done and being productive. read more

This plaza is hopping right now and so is Tea Top. Coming on a Saturday night on the way out of Houston, almost every table was filled with people hanging out or studying. Yet the atmosphere is not too loud still and service is timely. If I lived around here, this would be my cafe of choice too methinks. I got the new tea, golden daylily, in milk tea form, 50% sweet with no ice. It's a very bright, floral, vibrant tea that reminds me indeed of sunshine and golden raisins for some reason. That said, even at 50% sweet, it still surprisingly feels kinda sweet, so I would say either add some ice or go down even one more notch. Their pearls are pleasantly chewy too. Super cute place in the Katy Asian town area. Very aesthetic and great for photos. Person at the counter was sweet and even brought our drinks out to us. They also have really creative drinks. We got the Alpine green tea and grapefruit green tea with ajar jelly. Alpine green tea was fresh and had a strong tea taste with a hint of sweetness to it. Wonderful experience here over the weekend. My partner and I checked out Tea Top for the first time because my colleague recommended it. Upon entering, there was a sign reminding us of the mask requirement. There were markers on the floor that reminds you of social distancing. Yesterday Tea Top held a special BTS event where customers would get special BTS sleeves for their cups and some photo cards that came w/ it. The lines are pretty long whenever similar events like this are held there. I had me a matcha slushy w/ strawberry popping boba brought back by my mom while she was running errands down in KAT and surprisingly most of the ice hadn't melted yet which is good. I believe when they hold kpop themed events you can pick a notecard of your favorite member and luckily I was lucky that my mom was able to get me photo cards of my favorite member! When ordering the Passion Fruit tea, I was informed that their sweetness was controlled by the amount of honey so I asked for half honey which turned out to be 100% the perfect level of sweetness I've experienced thus far. The boba is apparently soaked in brown sugar instead of honey so that was new to me, but I also enjoyed that. The right amount of chewiness and maple aftertaste was pleasant. If I've ever had a perfect drink, THAT would be it. I think, if all of my passion fruit teas tasted like that, I'd be the happiest girl in earth. The reason Tea Top is my favorite boba shop in Houston is their quality and consistency in all of their drinks. I have tried almost everything on the menu, and have not yet been disappointed. The black teas can be on the stronger side. Substitute for jasmine or alpine green tea for a more subtle tea flavor. Tapioca is always fresh and chewy. I would say their flavorings are most similar to share tea but seem to have a lot more variety. My fault, lack of education. When I read red beans on this tapioca drink I though it was a coffee bean. When I started drinking and felt the pieces of real beans and the skin of the bean in my mouth I threw it away. I never thought for a second they would put chunks of real red beans on a drink. This place takes COVID precautions pretty serious. There is hand sanitizer at the checkout and marks on the floor to social distancing. My favorites are 3Q Earl Grey Milk Tea (I switch out coconut jelly for egg pudding), Sun Moon Milk Tea, and Jasmine with Cheese Foam. The tapioca is chewy and smaller than other stores. I just wish they would give a more generous amount of boba in drinks. I'm happy they offer both cap and sealed for milk foam drinks bcuz I like to sip on the milk foam.
