I had been seeing a lot of videos about Uncle Tetsu on social media and really wanted to give it a try. Unfortunately, the entire experience wasn't great. The store was very clean but the person working that day may have been having a bad day, but they had an indifferent attitude the entire time. They weren't really friendly; I just felt uncomfortable the entirety of our visit. They had 6 different cheesecake flavors, and for $15 a piece, I didn't want to just buy anything, but I felt rushed, as did my husband. Within the 5-8 minutes of us trying to decide, they asked like 3 times if we were ready when it was very obvious we were not. I was just very disappointed with the interaction, given that we had driven quite the distance. Now for what we got, we decided on the pandan coconut cheesecake, ube cheesecake, and my husband got a mango tart. These cheesecakes are very much on the subtlety sweet side, and the same goes for the flavor. It resembles more of a pound cake than a traditional cheesecake that's creamy. They are very moist and airy. For the pandan coconut, I will say the pandan flavor is stronger than the coconut. At least for me, I got the pandan flavor first, then I got the coconut flavor at the end. On the slices that did have the shredded coconut I felt like the coconut flavor was stronger but the shredded coconut was not evenly distributed on the cheesecake since it was more for decorative purposes. The ube tasted just like what it said, nothing crazy. Very subtle sweetness and flavor. Now for the mango tart, to me, it just tasted like straight-up artificial mango flavor. There was nothing natural about it. I would not buy mango again. I only see myself going back in the future for a Basque cheesecake if I'm in the area.
