We found ourselves nearby and spotted a developing Asia town on the map so decided to see what they had since we were already out there. Most of it is empty and/or still under construction. They did have a number of boba places that were open along with eateries and we've been to all of them before except this one - so we tried this place. The location is around the corner from most of the hustle and bustle which might account for the decrease in foot traffic. It was cute and I loved the decor. They were in their soft opening phase so we got to try out Thai tea recipes and had samples of their alpine green tea. The people were helpful, enthusiastic, and friendly. Their menu covered a few of your staple milk teas, traditional (plain) teas, slushies.... They also had an extensive selection that were just milk based. It seemed like there was just one size with drinks an average of $4 each plus additional for "toppings" which included boba only, grass jelly, or both. I ended up following the cashier's recommendation for their tiger pearl drink (no ice) which is basically milk with boba that has been cooked in brown sugar for 3 hours (the boba is warm so it'll warm up the milk slightly if there's no ice but it was more "cool" than "warm"). It'll trail little brown streaks through the milk as you begin stirring - I assume the stripes helped with the name. Later on, it'll just be a milk tea-like color. It tasted pretty okay at first but it wasn't bad. I enjoyed the boba (softer and chewy but had a depth to it due to brown sugar) and once completely mixed, it was pretty good. I believe she mentioned it was a limited time only though. We also ordered the cheese milk foam (made with cream cheese) alpine green tea, half sugar, no ice with boba and jelly. I prefer high mountain teas that have a deeper flavor and I have a favorite drink that sounded similar so I ordered it to compare. As a note, they have plain milk foam as well. It came with a lid similar to one you'd use for an ICEE drink which threw me off but it came with instructions on how to enjoy it and it made more sense since one was that you take off a lid to take a sip and get a taste of the foam. I liked that touch. All in all, it was pretty good. However, I still prefer my original drink (it had a salted cream foam topping and I thought the salt gave it that extra something special which pulled it into the lead). Even so, it's not bad in itself and I wouldn't mind ordering it again. The summary for drinks: I felt like they had perfect sweetness after the adjustments. Even the Thai tea samples were good (we had them after I ordered) but I preferred one with the stronger tea flavor (the other was too milky and was washed out). They don't skimp on the toppings so that was great. I also love how even though we chose no ice, our drinks still came to us full and we weren't charged extra. Bathroom could have been cleaner and they should put in a hook for bags, etc, as there was no place to put my purse. The main area was clean - no complaints there! I would love to return. I have my eye on the taro with sago (tiny tapioca balls) drink and it looks like it was made with real taro! Unfortunately, we live in the city so it's out of the way for us, but I hope they're still there the next time we're in the area and the quality doesn't decrease! read more

This is my favorite boba place in Katy Asiantown. My experience here has always been great with the boba being fresh and soft. The quality of tea is also better than other stores I've been to as it never tastes diluted or bitter. They have a few locations in the Houston area, but the quality at Katy has been the best out of all the locations. Would highly recommend! read more

Decided to check this place out, as it is 1 of the 6 tea places within the same shopping center. What brought me inside was a photo shared on yelp of their Matcha Latte. I went ahead and ordered that, and the cashier was nice enough to suggest adding nothing below 80-100% sugar. She explained that the Matcha is quite bitter, but it is totally optional of how much sugar I would like to add. I went ahead and went with her suggestion, as I trusted her input. The drink came out perfectly and I was impressed! I will be back to try other menu options! I also appreciate how spacious the tea shop was! The combination of sinkers it the perfect chewy combination in my opinion, and I like that the flavor of the earl gray tea still comes through in the milk. 75% sweet is just the right amount of sugar for me, and they don't overly fill the cup with ice like some other stores my might. I stopped in upon several recommendations from my friend who is an avid Tea Topper and I was not disappointed! I was educated on the various teas, levels of sugar, Thai tea leaves, and etc. I tried the Alpine Green Tea with 50% sugar cheese foam and tapioca.... OMG!! Sooo good!! I would give this 4.5 stars if I could, but 4 will do! I tried this place for the first time a few days ago. The bubble tea shop I usually go to has new owners now, so they were renovating the location a bit. I was with a friend who ordered the Matcha Latte, which I took a sip of. He and I agreed that the drink was a tad bit powdery, but that makes me think they're using real matcha powder. The taste was still good even though the texture was a bit off, but my friend let it water down a bit from the ice and then he said that it was no longer powdery. Maybe it needed more milk or another shake, but I'm not entirely sure. I ordered the Oolong Milk Tea at 50% sweetness because they had a sample of black tea at 50% and it was a good flavor for me. However, when I got my drink I realized I'd actually be okay with it at 80% sweetness, or maybe even regular. It was still really good though. They use small brown sugar tapioca pearls as one of their toppings. It's 50 cents extra and they give you two hefty scoops of it in your drink, so I don't mind that it's small after all :) All in all it was a good experience. The staff is so so nice and helpful and I really like that they have a small study room in case it gets a bit loud in the main seating area. They have a good range of flavors that I'd like to try, so I will most likely be back. Who knows? Maybe I'll be able to turn this into a 5 star review read more

Tea top is probably my most favorite boba place in houston so far. Any tea flavor is good, especially with the cheese foam. Their boba is sweet and super soft. They also have many great other topping alternatives. My favorite is the Earlgrey tea with cheese foam and boba at 80%sweet and less ice. Tea top has always been one of my favorite boba places, and a few of my favorites would be the taro milk tea with sago, earl grey with 3 Js, and their dirty boba milk teas (they only have this one on the weekends)! After going vegan tho, I could basically only choose from their teas which was a little sad cuz I really enjoyed their milk teas, so I really wish they had some dairy free substitution milk options. But I got their passion green tea medley (I recommend half sweet for this drink)! It was pretty good, but definitely not as good as their milk teas. read more

I came to Katy's new China Town last weekend, and I decided to try all the new hot spots! Tea Top was by far my favorite destination with their vast array of quality drinks and specialty toppings! I highly recommend the Alpine green tea with Fresh milk! It was so fresh that it tasted like it it was just squeezed out of the cow's udder. The green tea was very aromatic with just a hint of sweetness. The service here was also impeccable. The cashier was extremely knowledgeable about the different drink options with excellent explanations. I think I have discovered my new favorite boba spot in Houston!! This tea place is in building C, which is sort of at the back (northeast side of the plaza). Their other location is on bellaire. They offer a rewards program, like many other tea places. Inside is pretty modern with concrete looking accent wall, woods, antique lighting, earthy tones and ceramic floors. They even have a group study, glass-enclosed private room in the back near the restrooms. I tried the pearl milk tea with red beans, one of the top 10 flavors. I also tried the Earl gray milk tea but I'm not a big fan of jelly. I preferred the Earl gray milk tea since it's easier to drink. On next visits, I'm looking forward to trying the passion fruit or grapefruit teas. read more

They had a large menu, and I ended up going with the Earl Grey tea with Cheese and boba. It was a delicious blend between the two! The tea wasn't as flavored, but the cheese foam added to the flavor.
