Just the right amount of sweetness and the nuttiness from the pistachio hits the spot. It's hard to find a drink place that achieves the right balance. I was hankering for boba and came across this place so decided to check it out. It's not one of your big franchise names (I don't think) and had a very mom and pop feel to it. The drinks seemed to have quite a variety to them. Everything from milk teas, to smoothies, and matcha latte items. I feel like if you can dream it, they can probably make it for you. It was a bit overwhelming so I went to my trusty Yelp app to see what people were recommending. I ended up opting for the Artichoke tea, which I didn't quite see on their menu, but the owner assured me they have it and can make it. It was also one of her favorite drinks. I will say that I was a bit taken back at how brightly green it came out to be, and was hesitant at first because I'm used to artichoke drinks being more of a brownish color. However, I dove in anyways and it was delicious. The green came from the fact that they also added pandan to the drinks the drink itself also comes with a variety of sinkers like basil seeds, crystal boba, jelly, egg pudding and more! The drink was refreshing and delicious. I think next time I might cut the sugar to 50% but even without any changes it was quite delicious. Pricing was average for a drink, around $5 and service was quick and staff was super friendly. I'm glad I stopped in here to check it out! read more

I ordered the Peach Matcha Milk Tea, initially asked for boba but the staff convinced me that the strawberry jelly pairs really well with it. It was incredibly delicious! The food here is usually consistent, but today felt a bit off. First, they only had one high school girl working the front, and I'm not sure how many were in the kitchen. I've been waiting for my banh mi for over 30 minutes, and there are other people waiting too. Honestly, I don't blame the girl at the front--she's been very apologetic, and none of this is her fault. To make things worse, the AC is off, and the heat in Houston is unbearable. They're cash-only for now because their POS system is down, so I'm glad I happened to bring cash, which is rare for me. On the bright side, the aesthetic here rocks, and they've got some retro games that I really enjoy. The ambiance is great, but I've seen this place do better. Just not today. read more

I love this place, I go here whenever I can. The staff are always so kind as well. They just started doing food items and I got the fried pork egg rolls and they are so good! They took a minute to make it but even then they came out and told us "sorry for the wait we're trying to make it fresh for you." That immediately gave me a 5 stars for them. First time coming here for milk tea (I usually go to Katy Asian Town to get milk tea), but I'm very surprised how not that many people know this place it's really good! I usually go for a taro milk tea, but I wanted to try something different and unique and the owner Julie was very welcoming and friendly and recommended me to try to matcha peach milk tea and let me just say I've NEVER tried a milk tea combo like this in any milk tea shop I've been too anywhere! The peach and matcha blends really well together and taste sweet and creamy without it being overly sweet. I've tried a lot of milk tea shops in Houston, Bellaire, and Katy but this place has some really unique drinks. Aside from drinks they have some tasty food options if you're feeling hungry. I came to this establishment once, and I regret it. The manager was horribly inappropriate with his underage employees. He would often grab his employee's waists or arms, he would reach around them way too closely, and stand uncomfortably close to them. Out of curiosity, I asked the girl at the register if I should get a job here, as I was on the look for one. the discomfort and fear on her face were real. she let out an awkward laugh and subtly suggested that I should not work here. I noticed that they had a sign that said if you make a good Yelp review you get a free drink. THE REVIEWS YOUR READING ARENT REAL. THEY BRIBED PEOPLE TO SAY THAT. Please don't order any food or drinks here, I've heard the horror stories of molded fries, and horrific drinks. And if you witness ANYTHING inappropriate please do the things I didn't do and speak up. None of the girls working here deserve to be treated this way. read more

Reviewing only because I witnessed them cutting their tea with water. In fact it was more water than tea. Really disappointing.

This review is based solely on their food since we didn't order any drinks. We ordered a vietnamese pork po boy, popcorn chicken, and kimchi fries with an egg. The po boy was really good and was served on a different type of bread instead of your traditional french baguette. There was a slight crisp on the outside while the inside stayed soft. The flavor of the meat accompanied with the textures of the veggies were really spot on. The hubby really enjoyed this and could have probably eaten 2 more if I let him. It makes me so sad to say the kimchi fries were such a disappointment because I loveee fries! You know how you expect those piping hot crunchy fries straight out the fryer? And when you bite in to them, they're still too hot but you don't care because the almost creamy potato filling is so worth burning your tongue? Well... these fries were not like that at all, they were squishy and soggy. Almost as if they were warmed in a microwave? Now don't get me started on the popcorn chicken (not pictured). Omg, dare I say it... yes, probably the worst I've ever had. The batter was dense, stale, and bland. The chicken was large chunks of dry breast meat and there was no basil! Perhaps 3 food orders was too much for one cashier by herself since she was the only person there taking orders, making drinks and food. I ordered the caramel Thai tea float and TapX milk tea both with boba. I thought they were both great. The caramel Thai tea float was very sweet - too sweet for my husband, but I love a sweet drink. It made the boba very sweet too, which was great. For food, I ordered popcorn chicken and Parmesan fries. Both were good. The fries came with ketchup and the chicken came with a spicy sauce. Overall, I plan to go again. The staff was friendly and they are able to customize drinks. I would like to try more combinations. read more

I've been to Tapioca express many times, this was the first time in about a year since the pandemic that I've been back. This was them first time actually meet the store owner himself (Danny) Soon as I started talking to him I felt like I knew him for years. He was very helpful and genuine. He really got to know me and my son, plus made some great recommendations and prepare the food//drinks Quickly.and ton perfection. What makes this place different than other Tea houses is that Danny has a passion for what he does and the experience he brings to each customers. He is not here just to make a quick buck and dish out any sort of drink. He has a standard for his product's before he sends it out to each and every customer (Hence no artificial flavors here). Unfortunately they when I tried to go back with a friend they had closed. But now they are back to business and soo good!! I got the Sea Salt Taro Coco Blend with boba . I've only been once and I doubt I'll come back. I was rly sad when Vivi's and The Bep closed (previous businesses in the same location), so I was excited when Tapioca Xpress opened. I had the lavender, honey so minty milk tea; it sounded like a good combination at the time, but I can say it was one of the worst milk teas I've ever had! Maybe they've made adjustments since I visited (right after they opened), but my visit did not leave a good impression. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, asking if our drinks were to our liking and offering to adjust them if we weren't satisfied. Mine was a bit too minty so a worker did something to it, idk maybe added tea, and then grabbed my straw where I put my lips with his fingers to stir the tea.
