Matcha w/ matcha jelly - 7/10 - 1/2 sweet - Matcha was strong but I wasnt a big fan of the flavor, the jelly was good tho House blend milk tea w/ thai tea jelly - 8.5/10 - 1/2 sweet - I liked the strong roasted tea flavor, also loved the jelly but a little too milky Brown sugar oat milk tea w/ brown sugar pearls - 7/10 - Mostly tasted like sweet milk, decent but nothing crazy Earl grey tea latte - 8/10 - 1/2 sweet - I really liked the strong earl grey flavor, good balance of sweet and strong, but a bit too milky Grandmas fruit tea w/ aloe vera - 9/10 - 1/2 sweet - So refreshing and loved the fruit flavors they used, on the sweeter sider Egg puffs - 8/10 - Comes in original, matcha, chocolate, and tea flavors. All of them were very light sweet and i liked the original the most The time I spent at those claw machines is actually embarrassing This spots vibe was so cute tho. They're known for their jelly (no gelatin) which was yummy. I wish the drinks were creamier and less milky but still enjoyed their house milk tea and fruit tea.
Ordered Matcha Latte With Matcha jelly and House Blend Pearl Milk Tea + almond jelly. came in for the grand opening deal, a line was already established but you could skip the line and order on their kiosk if you know what you want already. It's a tea/jelly with a claw machine arcade in 1, cool and convenient for some drinking and playing time. I will return to try their more interesting drinks, the basic jelly's were delicious.. got me craving for more.
The drinks were great, with a large variety of options that are pretty hard to find anywhere else. I am a huge osmanthus fan, and it's been a little tough finding places in the US that offer it as a menu option, so I was really excited to get it here. I definitely recommend the osmanthus oolong with almond jelly; it's just the right amount of sweet and floral, and the jelly has a really nice texture (almond tofu is one of my favorite desserts, so I may be biased :) ). The toffee matcha was an interesting option, so we bought it out of curiosity. Surprisingly fantastic. The inside is unique and well-decorated, open and breathable. Seating is also really comfortable, and we were there for a good hour. Overall would encourage everyone to give it a try!
Went in for their official grand opening day and boy it was packed! Both inside and out. There weren't any parking spots left so I had to park to the strip behind them. Granted they're still new but I think down in the long run it'd be helpful to have more than one cash register. I think the promo for BOGO would have been helpful if it was clearly printed of what drinks would be eligible. I think it'd have make the line go faster bc I'm sure everyone had the same question for the cashier which ultimately slowed down the process. Cashier was trying to explain but it was really hard to understand her ontop of the loud background/music. She also got confused on my order so I had to make two separate ones. When I got my drinks, I figured out you can buy any of their top drinks and your free one is a regular milk tea. So technically not a true definition of BOGO imo. I'll probably give this place another try down the line just to check out their other drinks. They also have a ton of claw machines if you're into the cute plushies.
Loved hechalou tea. They offer delicious tea and unique toppings that you won't find anywhere else. The staff were so friendly and explained all the things on their menu. You can even taste test the unique toppings that are offered. The store also has a ton of claw machines. Store is clean and modern and overall was a great experience and tea is amazing.
I really did not know what I was walking into when I found this place but it's so cute inside. I've always been curious how black sesame seeds taste like so I ordered the "house milk tea with black sesame jelly". Initially I couldn't really taste anything but after a while I could taste the black sesame jelly. I thought it was pretty good. I've heard there's many benefits to black sesame. Happy I tried it-- I'd definitely come back here!
Echoing what a lot of reviews said, I came for soft opening and thought the drinks were a bit bland. We got the House Blend Milk Tea with Sesame Jelly and the Matcha Latte with Matcha Jelly. Both tasted very watered down. The milk tea was extremely creamy with just a slight hint of tea, almost like I'm drinking heavy cream. The matcha latte is similar, with just a slight hint of matcha. The thing that makes them unique are their jelly, ranging from tea jelly to almond jelly to sesame jelly. I thought these were good and fun to eat especially with the variety. However, they are only meant as toppings and couldn't carry the weak tea that makes up the majority of the cup. We also tried their Signature Black Tea Egg Waffle. It came in a set three and shaped like a crane - very cute - but that's about it. No filling, no dipping sauce, just waffle. The black tea waffle was pretty good but the waffle itself can feel dry toward the end. They would maybe pair well with drinks if the tea was a bit stronger.
I'm gonna start by addressing the other comments' complaints. I actually thought the service was pretty good and helpful. It did take a while to get my drink, but it's still in its soft opening week. All trendy milk tea places that just opened have extremely long waits because of the crowd, and the fact that customers often order multiple drinks for others too. I attend a lot of grand openings and I've come to expect them to take a while. I loved my drinks and the tea jellies were pretty good too. I came during the soft opening so the drinks were 50% off but even at normal price, it's about $6 which is pretty average now. I love the interior decoration because it has the retro 60's Shanghai look. I docked a star because I despised the other half of the store though. This milk tea place uses half the store to do claw machines and it absolutely clashes with the retro look. Completely incompatible and made the whole interior look messy and weird. Felt like a cash grab based on a trend.
I had high hopes, but I will say that this establishment just opened so I'll give them that. I ordered the matcha milk tea with matcha jellies, and the drink looked nothing like how it did on the menu. Also, it was a 30 minute wait for 1 drink. The drink was watery. I was thinking that the matcha would be handmade, but it came premixed in a pitcher. What I did enjoy was the claw machines while waiting. My daughter and I played them while we waited for my drink. I plan to come back, and see if my experience next time is different.
Really appreciated that they had their toppings available to taste test prior to adding it to your drink. It's a cute place, and the teas are strong and fragrant. Service was helpful and quick.
as someone who prefers jelly in their drinks over boba, i highly recommend this place! their drinks are delicious, especially the mango coconut slush with black tea jelly. it's reminiscent of the mango jellies we all know and love as a kid!! the matcha latte w matcha jelly was pretty good too! the matcha jelly was packed with that bitter earthiness whenever i'm in katy i would come back
Great place to get milk tea and egg puffs. They share a space with a small claw machine arcade. Good seating and they have lots of options to pick from. I highly recommend and would come back
the drinks were definitely fragrant and strong, but after a couple of sips it seemed like it was a bit watered down. it wasn't much of a problem if you'd like the tea not too overpowering. toppings here were unique and not many other boba shops would have these kind of jelly toppings. the jellies were strong-- sweet with a hint of bitterness from the tea. for the prices it was great and affordable, as it was around 6$ for a large and with toppings. really liked the variety of sugar adjustments to the drinks since not many places, have the option to go lower than 30. service was nice, the cashier allowed us to sample the toppings as it was our first time there. they had a nice aesthetic to the store, including claw machines!

My friends and I came here for an after-dinner drink. They are known for having different types of jellys along with the expected boba. I LOVED the variety of jellys! So by jellos, it's basically jello. And you can ask for sample before picking a jelly/jello for your drink. Notable samples were; Sesame which had a grainy texture to it but I still liked it. The thai tea jelly was amazing and strong!! The milk tea itself was as expected. The strong point was the jelly/jellos. I really like the furniture since it was all velvet and almost gave that sophisticated feel but it was kind of broken up by all the claw machines and the claw service corner. The ambiance is a weird mismatch. The items in the claw machines looks like knock offs and I had NO desire to even try. Overall, skip the claw machines, try the jelly/jello samples, enjoy the vibes on one side the room and maybe ignore the other side. Free parking out front. read more

Got the toffee milk tea with matcha jelly. The tea was so good, sweet and melty with that rich toffee taste. The jelly was a little hard to eat with the straw, which was a little disappointing. We also got the signature tea waffles, which were okay and not too sweet. The cafe is spacious, with a bunch of claw machines, although the available prizes could be better. Service is quick and you can order on an iPad. Would love to try their other options! read more
Lovely ambiance where I feel like I was transported into an old school Chinese gambling room in Shanghai but with modern claw machines on the other side. Comfortable cushioned chairs/bench, it's actually not just for looks. Good amount of seating area, though, they could have added maybe 1 more. I got a Signature Black Tea Egg Waffle and House Blend Milk Tea with Yin-Yang Jelly. Though, the house blend milk tea was delicious, I specifically asked multiple of times if there's any tree-nuts, such as almond milk, because someone in my group has a severe tree-nut allergy. I have mentioned it many times, including what their egg waffle mix has (such as almond flours and what not). I was told the waffle was good to go but nothing about their yin-yang jelly. The young server was friendly but I don't think he realized the importance of someone not consuming tree-nuts if they have a tree-nut allergy. Luckily, we double checked with someone else after I questioned the drink and luckily the person who has a tree-nut allergy didn't try any of the drink. So, if you or someone in your group has a tree-nut allergy... possibly avoid this place or get a drink somewhere else. There's a big chance of cross-contamination even if the person who took your order knows the severity of it. Overall, it's a good bubble-tea IF AND ONLY IF THERE'S NO ONE IN YOUR GROUP WITH A TREE-NUT ALLERGY. Tea, at 20% sugar level was sweet enough and delicious without artificial taste. I can actually taste the tea and milk. Their Signature Black Tea Egg Waffle is cute in 3 shapes of cranes. The wing parts are nice and crispy but the center of the body is dry. There's no bounce to it. It's pretty thick and heavy. I would skip their cranes and just get drinks. Again, please beware if you or anyone has a tree-nut allergy. read more

House blend pearl milk tea (100% sugar and ice) is really sweet. I like the smokiness and strong flavor of the house blend tea though. The boba was a mix of chewy and soft. The HCL egg puffs (3pcs) come in a variety of flavors. I tried the original flavor, which was sweet and eggy. They're shaped like the logo (a crane) and has crispy edges. The tea jelly was fun to try. read more

First I want to say I didn't even get my drink order so I can't comment on the taste/quality of the drinks or food. I ordered two drinks and waited over 30 minutes. Unfortunately I was not able yo wait longer as I had to work. It would have been nice for staff to notify of the long wait time when placing the order because I would have just gone somewhere else. I'm going to estimate based on how many people were in front of me on the screen and the rate they were calling out orders....the wait time would have been about an hour on top of what I already waited. Overall I'm not impressed with the communication from the staff or the rate the orders were ready. I was sitting next to maybe the owners who seemed more occupied with getting their own drinks and taking pictures. I'm assuming they worked there as they kept going back into the staff only section to grab items. Maybe help out the staff that is back there because clearly they are having issues getting orders out in a timely manor. I also tried to get a refund but was unable to due to the long line that had formed to get to the front. Very dissatisfied and disappointed. read more
Hechalou has quickly become one of my favorite milk tea spots! My go-to drink is the House Milk Tea with Yin Yang Jelly. I usually get zero sugar as the jelly helps add some sweetness to the drink. The jelly is a nice change if you don't like tapioca pearls or if you're looking to try a new and unique topping. Service has always been fast every time I come! read more

I went to the soft opening of the newest boba chain in town, Hechalou tea in Katy. It shares a space with a claw machine place, which I didn't like. They have an ongoing promotion where you can get 50% off your order, which ends today. I tried their most popular drink, the house blend milk tea with sesame jelly. The wait was pretty long as they take awhile to make the drinks. They have a TV that shows which drinks are ready and which are still being made. The house blend milk tea wasn't bad but it wasn't strong enough for me. I also got 70% sugar but it was still as sweet as a 100% drink. The sesame jelly was really interesting. It had a mochi like exterior but jelly like consistency inside. The sesame was pretty nutty as well. I have mixed feelings about it. If you are a sesame fan though then you would probably like it. I also got a matcha latte with matcha jelly and it was not good at all. The matcha is premade and powdery, with a weird taste that is not smooth. The matcha jelly is fine but is overshadowed by the matcha. I would give this place some time before you come here read more

First time at HeChaLou and it was Great tea & jelly! If I'm in the area for a quick bathroom/ drink stop this will be the place. They even have claw machines...so if my kids come, it will not be a quick pit stop though. read more

We ordered House Blend milktea w yin yang jelly and Lychee Jelly Backtea. Milktea is bland, tasteless, not strong as advertised 3/10. And we literally waited 30mins for 2 drinks. Definitely wont come back. read more
