Left to right: Osmanthus Oolong Milk Tea & Chang'an Lychee Flavored Osmanthus Oolong Milk Tea
    Anastasia V.

This Bellaire plaza has so many different boba spots and Chahalo is not much different. It's clean inside, there's a good selection on the menu, and service was good. Our drinks were ready pretty fast too. I ordered the osmanthus oolong milk tea and my friend got the Chang'an lychee oolong milk tea. Both teas were good and refreshing in this weather. We both got less sweet too. Good balance between tea flavor and milk.

Chang'an fresh lychee oolong milk tea - 8/10 - Strong oolong milk tea with a light lychee flavor Lychee jasmine green tea - 9/10 - So refreshing with a strong lychee flavor and hint of lime ‍ Matcha latte w/ whipped cream - 6.5/10 - Was a bit milky, could use more matcha Brown sugar boba - 8.5/10 - Boba was super soft but needed more brown sugar ChaHalo has recently opened their newest location in Houston and just launched their lychee series!! I would recommend the lychee jasmine green tea specifically for a hot summer day

The drinks were okay, but the tea flavor wasn't very strong and was definitely on the lighter side. The boba milk tea didn't have much flavor and tasted mostly like milk with boba. I personally prefer a stronger tea flavor, so it wasn't really my favorite. The service was quick and efficient, though, and the place itself was nice, clean, and modern. Overall, a cute spot, but I wish the drinks had a little more flavor.

Few weeks after grand opening, the storefront is certainly less crowded. I was drawn in as there was a FanTuan app collaboration outside the store. I was excited to make use of my FanTuan discounts, but soon regretted the decision since ordering through the app ended up being a slightly disappointing experience for my first time at Chahalo: - the Black Milk Tea Frappe was served without the classic cream top and nuts, which was what I was most looking forward to when ordering the drink - the wait for the drink took forever, and it was only when asked then was found that the drinks had been ready for some time When I finally tried the Black Milk Tea Frappe (without the cream), the flavors fell short of the hype; however, the brown sugar boba were a nice touch, but it costs extra. I also ordered the Osmanthus Oolong Milk Tea and found it to be more enjoyable. Overall, there's definitely room for improvement on the drinks and the service as they ease into operations. Storefront wise, it is clean and trendy, and there is plenty of seating if you decide to dine-in or chitchat with friends. I also appreciated that staff came around to clean the tables after customers finished their time in the store. Pro tip: if you decide to add the brown sugar boba to your drinks, reduce the sugar level on your drink order accordingly Pro tip #2: if you order your drinks online for pickup, check in with the staff if you don't see your order being noted as ready after a while (especially if the store looks to be less busy)

I got the osmanthus oolong milk tea and it was reallyy good. It had a stong tea flavor which I liked and the service was quick as well. I went on a Tuesday noon and it wasn't crowded at all with lots of seating. This is my new favorite boba shop!

I've gotten a few drinks here. Their Jasmine green tea drink is pretty good. If you like milk tea that has more tea flavor compared to milk. The others I've had like the oolong is not for me, it has an artificial taste. They seem to be pretty busy especially on the weekend, but they make the drinks pretty fast after you order. The place is decorated decently well. A few downsides are that they have limited searing when it's busy, and they don't have Wifi which is quite unfortunate when the service is pretty bad in this area. On the

My personal experience here was great and I'll explain some of the downsides too! I got the longjing milk tea and the dark milk tea with boba. Loved BOTH. The longjing was lighter while the dark was.. well stronger in flavor. Almost reminded me of sea salt milk teas. I came in on a weekend afternoon, place was reasonably filled, and got my drink within 10 mins. Service was both kind and quick. Interior was cute and you can even purchase some of the decor! First, the straws. The thin straws that look like sticks used to stir are actually SUPER popular and prevalent in China and have been for years. If you don't like them, the store has the big ones available too. Just grab those. Second, I actually really enjoyed the boba. Yes it was more cooked down than usual but it was still chewy. I actually really enjoyed the boba because it was different than other places. They actually cooked it in black sugar, perhaps an herbal one. This is a very popular ingredient in more traditional Chinese desserts. It's a flavor I love and grew up with, but I can see that if you're more used to westernized flavors, this result may throw you off. The whip cream is also different from what's usually seen in America. It's a thicker, dryer form to look aesthetic and mix into your drink. Overall, I liked this place a lot. Some of the flavors were less westernized than other milk tea places so if you're used to the latter, it may not be the best fit. I took off one star because I think the menu needed more English translations for the teas they're using and the special ingredients they use, such as nuts or others. The audience in Houston is so diverse thus a minimum expectation is to at least include thorough translations, so people with dietary restrictions know. Also, the cups are GORGEOUS. The prettiest I've seen in Houston so far.

The good news: the line on the Sunday of opening week wasn't too bad. The bad news: The short line might be because the boba was pretty meh. It wasn't qq at all. Seems like they undercooked it since the center was too hard, and then it sat out too long, so the edges were already mushy. Plus, our drink barely had any boba. Some slurps had 2 boba, some none at all, and then all gone. Osmanthus oolong was also meh, don't even recall any floral notes, let alone osmanthus (likely underbrewed). The ugly truth: they were vastly unprepared, and even then, the boba quality was just so bad despite the not-that-bad line. Seems like they may have sacrificed brewing time and proper boba cooking time just to pump out drinks to meet demand. Even Molly Tea still has long waits despite the lines being more tame. If Chahalo got the lines that Molly Tea or HeyTea (either Galleria or Chinatown) had on their openings, Chahalo would've been cooked. At least more so than the boba. BOGO ain't worth it for sad boba.

We stopped by during their soft opening on 7/11 when they were running a buy one, get one 50% off promotion. We arrived around 2:30 pm on a muggy Saturday and waited in line for about 45 minutes. We ordered a large Osmanthus Oolong Milk Tea at 50% sweetness, plus boba for an additional $1, and a Berry Frappé at 100% sweetness. It took about 10 minutes for our drinks to be prepared, and we had them in a to go bag. Once we got home, we noticed a few issues. First, the straw felt like three thin coffee stirrers stuck together, making it surprisingly difficult to drink the beverages. Second, and more importantly, the Berry Frappé contained bacon bits. There was no indication of this on the English menu. While this may not be an allergy concern for everyone, it's important information for customers who avoid pork for religious or dietary reasons. I hope the shop clearly lists all ingredients in English so customers can make informed choices. Another disappointment was the promotional fridge magnet. The promotion advertised a free magnet, but we never received one. Since we arrived around 2:30 pm, it was surprising that none were available or offered. If supplies were limited, it would have been nice if that had been communicated. As for the drinks themselves, they were just average. At about $7.49 each, I didn't think they offered good value, and I wouldn't order them again at that price. The shop itself is relatively small, with about nine employees working behind the counter, so the space felt very crowded during the soft opening. I understand they're still working through the opening process, and I hope they improve the menu labeling, promotional communication, and overall customer experience as they settle in.

    Mailynn V.

Went here on the soft opening. The shop is a small bubble Tea shop. They have some seating along the wall and a few tables. I tried their Jasmine milk tea it's not as floral as I thought it would be. It didn't seem over brewed though. It was okay, I did get less sugar. The other drink I tried was the roasted oolong tea and that one was the best of the two. It had a more prominent roasty flavor. It had a stronger floral flavor than the jasmine tea. They're more known for their authentic tea flavors too.

The osmanthus milk tea was extremely flavorful and fragrant. I usually get my drinks at 30-50% sugar due to how sweet they are at other boba places but the recommended 70% was perfect for me. The drink came out decently fast especially with how busy the store was. The store was beautifully decorated, but I was not able to enjoy it for long since I was unable to find any seating

chahalo is a xi'an based milk tea brand and their signature drink is the osmanthus oolong milk tea. it was fragrant with a nice floral aroma, but i didnt find it particularly memorable i also had a hard time deciding what to order since the menu was pretty basic. we ended up getting the longjing green tea as well, but what the english name doesnt mention is that it comes topped with pistachio foam... lost in translation ig? unfort, the pistachio foam was very salty with no sweetness, so all we really tasted was the bitterness of the tea paired with a savory cream on the bright side, we got some pretty fridge magnets from the bogo 50% off promo. overall, the drinks werent bad, but they didnt do enough to make me want to come back when there are so many stronger tea spots nearby

I pulled over in the first parking lot I could find and opened Yelp to help me find something. I'm telling you all of this because I ended up walking into Le Drip and ordering the "Egg Coffee", knowing nothing about it. Now, I've been on this earth for a minute and I've drank a lot of coffee. This is among the best coffee drinks I've ever had. Certainly the best I've had in recent memory. What I'm saying is it's in the running for the best coffee drink I've ever had. The egg cream is thick and eggy, which I loved. The coffee itself is bold with a strong coffee taste. The cream is dusted with a heavy shake of cinnamon and it all melded together into a delicious concoction that I couldn't get enough of. If you're looking for a memorable coffee drink, I would recommend giving this spot a shot. Tell 'em Big D sent you.

The famous Egg Coffee didn't stand out at all from all the praise it receives. I expected a rich, creamy coffee experience, but I couldn't find any coffee essence at all. Instead, the drink was overwhelmingly sweet from start to finish. I was also excited to try the new Lychee Jasmine Matcha since it sounded phenomenal, but it ended up being my least favorite. The lychee flavor completely overpowered matcha, making it hard to enjoy the drink. Overall, it was a good try but it wasn't cup of coffee.

A spot dedicated to tiramisu treats (as well as mousse cakes, panna cotta, cookies, and croffles)…read moreand pretty drinks that is open all day? Count me in! The inside is mostly white and going for that IG "it spot" vibe. Most people were ordering their drinks that come with a little slice of tiramisu, but we were there to try just the latter! The tiramisu varieties aren't all truly tiramisu (which traditionally has espresso and alcohol), but they're called tiramisu because there are cookies or ladyfingers layered with their mascarpone cream. I tried the Biscoff Tiramisu-- while they could work on their presentation (the filling looked messy and slapped on), the taste was quite nice! Sweet, creamy, and the mascarpone filling was light and not too heavy despite being sweet and indulgent. I'm excited to try the other tiramisu varieties :D I like how the tiramisu comes in its own container instead of scooped into a takeout box because it's a lot less messy + prettier when eating it. Service was really friendly and there is self-serve water available too. Lots of tables for two but they were all taken during my visit. There's a little table outside in the shade if you're willing to sit in the heat. Overall, 4.5 stars for the tiramisu-- will be back to try some more! Check them out next time your sweet tooth calls :)

One of my favorite little spots to grab a matcha! I love the insane variety of matchas they have on…read morethe menu because apparently having just one or two good options would be far too easy. And if I'm with my boyfriend, he always spoils me and allows me to get 2 (one for the next day, of course)! One of my favorites is the Biscoff Banana Pudding Matcha. It's basically a dessert and a pick-me-up in one, so obviously I'm going to support that kind of decision-making. It's creamy, sweet, and with the crunchy textures, it's just such a fun combination. The other thing I am OBSESSED with here is the croffles! Easily one of the best I've ever had. They're super fresh, buttery, and have the perfect texture. But honestly, the cream they put on top is what really gets me. It's not overly sweet or super heavy, which I appreciate because I would like to enjoy my dessert without downing a whole glass of water... or maybe... a matcha? lol My boyfriend and I like coming here every now and then and sharing a croffle (because apparently we are capable of sharing things), and we love the indoor and outdoor seating areas too. It's such a cute little spot to hang out, grab a drink, eat something sweet, and just chill. Now for the one downside: the parking. If you know, you know. The parking situation is... less than ideal, especially considering this is Bellaire. But honestly, if you're coming here to grab a drink, eat, play on the claw arcade, and get a dessert, I'd say it's worth surviving the parking chaos. Pro tip: CALL AHEAD AND ASK IF THEY STILL HAVE CROFFLES! I learned this lesson the hard way. One time, I brought a large group of friends here after dinner specifically so everyone could try the croffles... only for us to find out they had just run out. SAD! You can imagine my devastation after hyping them up. They actually felt really bad and told us that we could call ahead next time to check if they still had any available, which I thought was incredibly nice of them. So now I'm passing that wisdom along because I refuse to let anyone else experience the heartbreak of arriving croffle-less. Overall, such a cute spot with great matcha, delicious croffles, and a fun little atmosphere. Just prepare yourself mentally for the parking situation and CALL AHEAD FOR THE CROFFLES!!!

The employee's attitude and customer service were even more unacceptable. I purchased four drinks from this store at the same time. I specifically ordered all four drinks with less sugar and regular ice. However, out of the four drinks, two of them had an absurdly excessive amount of ice. One cup was approximately 60% ice, while the other was even worse, with approximately 90% of the cup filled with ice. I understand that I ordered regular ice, but does that really mean an employee can fill almost the entire cup with ice and leave only a tiny amount of actual drink? Regular ice and an excessive amount of ice are two completely different things. What made me even more angry was the employee's attitude. When I questioned the drink that was approximately 90% ice, the employee did not acknowledge the problem or attempt to resolve it. Instead, the employee argued with me and insisted that I was the one who was wrong. Even more absurdly, the employee told me that if I wanted the excessive amount of ice removed, I would have to pay extra! Are you serious? I ordered a drink with regular ice--not a drink that was 90% ice! Why should I have to pay an additional fee just to have an unreasonable amount of ice removed from a drink that I have already paid for? You are running a beverage shop, not an ice shop! I paid for four drinks, not four cups of ice. Even though I clearly requested regular ice, two out of the four drinks were filled with an unreasonable and ridiculous amount of ice. One cup being approximately 60% ice is already unacceptable, but having another cup that is approximately 90% ice is simply outrageous. The worst part of this experience was not just the excessive amount of ice. It was the fact that the employee refused to handle a reasonable customer complaint appropriately and instead chose to argue with me, making me feel as though I had somehow done something wrong. Customers should not have to argue with employees over something as basic as receiving a reasonable amount of actual beverage in a cup. If a beverage shop cannot even provide a reasonable proportion of the product that customers are paying for, then why should customers be expected to return? This experience was extremely disappointing. I was disappointed not only by the ridiculous amount of ice, but also by the employee's unwillingness to listen to a reasonable concern and the unacceptable attitude toward a paying customer. I came here to buy drinks, not to pay for cups of ice! I will seriously reconsider whether I ever want to visit this store again. Management should take this matter seriously and review both the way drinks are being prepared and the way employees are trained to handle customer concerns. Finally, I ended up returning the drink that was approximately 90% ice. What made the situation even more disturbing was that the employee did not throw the returned drink away. Instead, they put it back into the refrigerator/freezer to be sold to another customer later. That is completely unacceptable and raises serious concerns about how returned beverages are being handled and resold.
