Came here for the first time this weekend and had a really good experience overall. We went in the afternoon, and there was a decent crowd, but the service was still fast. We got the Vanilla Marble Espresso and the Banana Cream Coffee. Both were incredible drinks to try. We asked for light ice on both, and it ended up being the perfect balance. The espresso had a hint of vanilla sweetness that complemented the strong coffee flavor really well. I thoroughly enjoyed this one and was pleasantly surprised by the addition of jelly, which added a nice deeper flavor. Overall, I'd give this drink a 4.5/5. The Banana Cream Coffee is definitely for people who love that type of flavor. I was surprised to find that it actually tasted stronger than the espresso. Nonetheless, it was a stellar drink. My friend drank it from the bottom with a straw, and we felt that was the best approach to get the authentic Vietnamese coffee flavor without the banana overpowering it. Great tasting strong viet coffee. I recommend don't make any adjustments to the "ice" level bc your cup will be 1/2 full only. They tend to add a lot of ice unfortunately but the coffee itself still taste good. The medium and large cup are a .50 cent difference. They currently have Japanese pumpkin cream, sweet corn cream for seasonal flavors. Right now I'm OBSESSED with banana foam, it's sooo good. I have been back 3x already in one month, and I live 40 min away on toll. The line moves through pretty quick, separate line for cashier/ ordering on iPad. I was always curious about Trung Nguyen coffee as the place is normally packed during the night/prime time hours. I happen to be in the area before the dinner time rush this time and stopped by. No lines! I am in sort of an Ube Latte/Coffee kick lately and man was the Viet coffee strong!! Loved it. It seemed popular since I was told they sold out, and recently stocked it again. I've heard mixed reviews about their matcha, so I didn't have high expectations. The matcha was actually really good. The initial sip of the matcha was strong and a bit grassy. Grassy isn't a bad thing, depends on who is drinking it. Once mixing the drinking, the mango purée provided the perfect amount of sweetness. The slight grassy taste of the matcha disappeared. The mango purée didn't overpower the matcha. I enjoyed my drink a lot! My boyfriend got the pandan cream phin coffee. Personally, the coffee itself is still a bit too strong for my liking. The pandan cream is very thick, but yummy! Once completely mixed, it was delicious. The intensity of the coffee lessened. So so good. This definitely won my boyfriend over. Way better than the black sesame cream coffee, in my opinion. We came during noon on Saturday, and there was still a constant line. I was excited to finally try this new Viet coffee cafe! I grew up on Viet coffee and I liked how they offered a lot of unique coffee options! The parking lot is spacious and can get busy with other shops nearby like 85 degrees depending on the time you go. The staff were welcoming and friendly. I ordered the black sesame cream phin & pandan cream phin. Unfortunately, I didn't catch that the employee entered matcha cream phin instead until I got my drinks, but I didn't bother to ask for a correction. They had a small pastry display case with croissants, muffins, kolache and cookies. I like the large wall display of merch including various colored coffee filters & the Trung Nguyen legend world map. The drinks came out pretty quickly and I liked the to go bag which sections off the drinks to prevent spills. The black sesame had a very bold flavor & a hint of chocolate aftertaste and I was on a strong caffeine high all day which typically doesn't happen. I've been here twice to try out their drinks, and both times it was just good enough for me to come back. As far as their coffee, they have it down because it's strong and flavorful however their teas need some major improvements. Considering it's only a couple of tea flavors it's just not good at all. My first time here I ordered their black sesame cream coffee and a lychee green tea. The coffee was strong and the black sesame was tasty. On the other hand the tea was very weak, lychee flavor was there but I didn't taste any tea at all. I had to doctored it up when I arrived home and made my own green tea. I mixed my tea with the drink & it tasted better. This past Friday I decided to give them one more chance after I ate some Korean BBQ and once again it was just a fair experience. I got the Ube coffee along with a hibiscus tea. The coffee was very strong and the Ube was flavorful but their hibiscus tea didn't have any tea flavor. When it comes to their coffee, I have no complaints but they need some help in brewing stronger teas because it just tastes weak & diluted. They have some pastry for purchase to enjoy with your coffee. The decor is nice but they need to do better in wiping down their tables, it's always dirty. We came a week after their final grand opening. I had seen and heard a lot about it during its soft opening so we were excited to try. The menu seemed pretty extensive and I was really hoping to try the mango matcha latte but it was unfortunately sold out at 5 pm on a Saturday. There was a line of about 8-10 people when we got there but it went relatively quickly as you could order from either a kiosk or through an employee at the counter. We got a large black sesame cream and a medium matcha cream specialty phin coffees. There were a few things I was disappointed in: - The large is barely any bigger than the medium but a whole $1 more - They don't fill your drink all the way if you ask for less ice (as seen in pic) - I feel like the foam is so thick that it's hard to mix with the drink so you can hardly taste it until the end after you've drank all the coffee I will say the Vietnamese coffee itself is really strong and bold, not too bitter with just the right amount of sweetness and creaminess. read more

I have heard this place gets busy though so I'd be cautious during peak times like on the weekend. Drinks wise, we loved their ube coffee, black sesame coffee, and coconut cream coffee. The coffee here is STRONG like it should be! The respective flavoring like ube, black sesame, and coconut cream are prominent as well without being overly sweet. 10/10 would recommend any of their coffees. First time at Trung Nguyen's and I was pleasantly surprised by their wide variety of drink offerings. My friend and I couldn't decide on which of the specialty matcha lattes to get so we got three drinks to split between the two of us. We accidentally got all of the drinks with regular sweetness but they still got our "not too sweet" stamp of approval! We got the coconut, mango, and banana matchas. All of them were delicious - my favorite was the banana. The mango matcha was probably the sweetest from the three. One note is to be mindful about the portion sizes when spending an extra dollar to get a large. We couldn't tell the difference between the large and regular sized drinks. I love their egg coffee!! My favorite used to be Teafix until they closed down. This is a great alternative! The lines are long during the weekends but it moves quickly. The staff is fast making drinks, and the pick-up system is really efficient with personal texts, the numbers on the screen, and mass production. I've also tried the sesame cream coffee and salt coffee. They're okay. Egg cream coffee still remains my favorite. Ordered the black sesame cream, it came out really quickly which was nice but that tells me that the coffee was already made and they just poured everything together. The cream was too thick so if you are trying to sip it from the cup directly you will get nothing but the cream. I did my best to stir it up with the straw but the two would not mix very well. So they need to get the consistency right so that it still mixes together but can still layer inside the cup. There are a few tables inside the store, a lot of them are on the smaller side. Plenty of seating for catching up with friends - I wouldn't say they have the best study environment, but they certainly have a loyal crowd of customers (and for good reason)! When I was split between two drinks, the servers let me try out the different foams as well which was great! I tried their sesame foam and banana foam on Vietnamese coffees. The sesame foam was perfect for someone who doesn't like their coffee too sweet - it was nutty and rich without being sugary. Sunday afternoon and this place had a line outside of the door! Just opened a few weeks ago, and I think they're still in soft opening. The drinks looked so good on social media, and I wanted to see if the hype was worth it. Their menu offers interesting takes on asian inspired latte/tea/matcha flavors. We got 2 drinks blueberry matcha latte and coconut cream latte Blueberry matcha latte - 10/10!! SO good. I usually prefer making matcha at home and could never really find too many decent matcha anywhere in Houston that was green, flavorful, and had the perfect matcha-milk ratio to me. I loved the blueberry syrup it wasn't overly too sweet like commercial syrups, and I'm not sure if they make the syrups in house but it tasted so fresh and even had blueberries pieces in them! Coconut cream latte - I only took a sip of this without a straw so I can't really give a full rating cause it wouldn't be fair lol. But the coconut cream with the coffee was so so good!! If you love Vietnamese coffee but not a fan of it being sweet, this is the place. Strong and bold, not burnt. Advice, if you want to sweeten the coffee and get a black sesame coffee, mix with a straw before drinking. It's a big grainy but I don't mind from the black sesame. I usually like to drink these types of speciality coffee without a straw by sipping on the top but I actually think it's better with a straw. The opening on top is quite small and their speciality drinks are quite heavy on top - thus, it's better to mix it into the drink. Blueberry matcha was quite delicious without it being overwhelm with sweetness. Blueberry puree was made perfectly with the matcha. This place gets packed no matter what time you go. It's slightly better in the early morning. Regardless, the wait isn't too bad even if you end up at the end of the line by the door. I came here to see what all the hype was. I got the coconut cream and the pandan cafe sua da. I thought the cafe sua da was good but the cold foams didn't really do it for me. Next time, I'll just stick to normal cafe sua da. Service was quick and employees were friendly. read more
