Green milk tea
Brandon D.

After lunch I got some boba next door at chow tea. I didn't know what to get so I decided to be adventurous and tried the oolong milk tea with oolong boba. The oolong tea was fine but I wasn't a fan of the oolong boba at all. I recommended my friend the green milk tea since I liked it the last time I came and they enjoyed it as well though. I didn't have a good experience this time but I did have a good drink from them in the past

Strawberry Tea (24oz)and Tropical Fruit Tea(24oz)

Good price and nice topping selection! I got the strawberry tea in 50% sugar and I wouldn't go up in sweetness, but it was really refreshing! I tried this on a whim due to being in the plaza and I would go again--fast service and cute interior.

I came here after eating lunch in the plaza. The cute logo drew me in. It's a Viet boba shop with both drinks and snacks. I got the tropical fruit tea ($6.95) at 50% sweet. It came with fruit on top and was ice cold (so refreshing). The shop is tiny and the drinks were all one size. The service was a bit slow but there were only two workers there. I'd come back!

Decided to check out Chow Tea after dinner. Cute but small boba shop; probably not a good place for large gatherings. They had small claw machines in the store. Service was good & quick. Got the Peach Tea w/ lemongrass & orange juice. It was sweet & refreshing, however my main gripe was that I requested light ice but it seemed more like regular ice. Watered down my fruit tea :( Also got the ube coffee to-go. The foam itself tasted good, but gets overpowered by the coffee. Not sure if Chow Tea can customize their coffee if a customer wants bac xiu instead of ca phe sua da. Would probably go back to try other options!

This place has hilarious illustrations of dogs (maybe a theme?) that I thought were AI generated. Great bubble tea including the ube flavored one which I got. Excellent service as well and prompt preparation of the milk tea. Pretty cool and adorable decorations inside and a few tables but cozy. Check this place out bro!

Fried quail eggs

The design of the dogs with boba were cute and what initially drew me to try the boba. The oolong milk tea had a good combination of tea and milk taste. The fried quail eggs were tasty and a good snack. They were a bit expensive though, $6 for 6 eggs. They have other snacks available for a similar price. The shop was small with limited seating, but they have WiFi available. The service was good.

I was looking around the Chinatown area for a particular dog. I could not find it at Pet's Mart, not at my local shelter, but one place, Chow Tea. I was on a curiosity trip and seen the business was recommended here on Yelp. What really caught attention is the sign. I was definitely a bit biased because I am dog owner and found the mascot, the Chow chow, very eye catching. But it just got even better, just like the chow chow is a very cozy type of dog, the shop is very cozy as well. But I liked it. It would be a nice more intimate setting versus bringing a group. It was my first time visiting so I had to ask for what the staff would say is their best drinks on the menu. They pointed to a toasted coconut milk tea and the oolong with a few additional ones. I went with both. I did try the toasted coconut milk tea and I liked it. I never thought it would be an addicting flavor but I couldn't stop drinking more of it. Overall I found the visit very enjoyable. I have had a list of a few places that have been "hidden gems" in my collection this year. Chow Tea has made my list. In a very busy and growing business plaza, I found it to fit that criteria: Small business, a few spots for seating, nice atmosphere and can be found for those that only search for its secrets haha. But in seriousness, quality drinks, a very nice chow chow mural, very nice spot to get away from the bright lights and crowds. Every dog has his day, Chow Tea definitely had it today

Stopped by this place cause something caught my eye. Talk about hole in the wall. This place is tucked in between two buisiness like a New York restaurant The tea itself was good. Not overly sweet and you can taste the tea versus just tasting sugar. The unique thing about this place was the CHEESE JELLY. I thought it was just gonna be a piece of cheese shaped jelly but it tasted like cheese and I dig it! Definitely will be back!

Coconut milk tea and green milk tea.

Delicious milk tea and fruit tea. The service is the best and everyone had a smile. The store is small but makes the most delicious teas. Highly recommend chow tea.

Avocado Coconut

Highlight: Avocado Coconut Tastes pretty creamy and is equivalent to drinking coconut milk with a thicker avocado whip. On the sweeter side but I like how unique the drink is. Hospitality: Friendly staff. Honorable Mention: Super cute marketing and interior design! Only about 5 tables inside but they do have wifi.

It would've been an easy 4 stars but I didn't feel like I got my moneys worth with the 3 drinks that I've purchased. 25 bucks for 3 drinks was not fulfilling at all. I ordered two with ice and one without it. I decided to get their tropical fruit tea, strawberry fruit tea & Jasmine milk tea. The tropical tea was refreshing but was overpowering with what I'm assuming was passion fruit. They also put so much ice & by the time I took 3 sips the cup was already half gone. They literally gave me like 70 percent ice. For the strawberry fruit tea, I decided to take the ice out & once I did that, the drink wasn't even half way. I'll say it was about 30 percent full. The drink itself was very good, I can taste all the tea flavor. I like that they topped it off with fresh fruits versus frozen. The jasmine milk tea was textbook made. Nice tea flavor that will have me up throughout the night. I am fine with paying extra for no ice and to fill it to the top but that's what you call nickel and dime. 1.50 just for you to top it off is ridiculous in my opinion and that'll lose some stars. There's so many boba shops that will gladly make your drink without ice and won't charge you extra just to fill it to the top. Overall, the drinks were good but my experience was just subpar. The inside is tidy & clean. The service was goodish. This place is set up where you order, get your drink & go. Not a big place with just a few tables. Will I come back? Yes I'll give them another go.

Another boba pop up in Bellaire. A small shop nestled next to Crown Seafood and right off the busy street. They offered Vietnamese snacks (grab n go snacks are cash only) and a lot of classic drinks options. I opted to try drink flavors that are not typically offer elsewhere. I had the green milk tea with jelly cube and it was decent. My cousin got the toasted coconut milk tea which was pretty good. The staff were friendly and patience. Nice to have another boba shop along the strip for convenience.

I got the toasted coconut milk tea here, which was not too sweet and also not overly coconut-y! I don't think I would get it again, as I wasn't the biggest fan of the pairing with milk tea, but I would definitely come back to try other drinks that they have here, because they have a lot of interesting menu items. My friends tried the cheese jelly and cheese pudding in their drinks, which we found interesting, and tasted like a milder sweet cream. The place was pretty small, but was very cute, and the workers were very sweet!

$$ is kinda toward the expensive side and the bobas are way too big for the straw making it hard for drinking.

Cafe 101 serve Japanese and Chinese food. There are table and booths inside as well as a full bar. We started with a couple of sushi specials... bluefin toro and Uni. Thought the bluefin toro were fresh as well as the Uni. Wasn't expecting so was pleasantly surprised. For our mains, we ordered the twice cooked pork and beef galbi. Both came as a set... with rice, side dish of pickled radish and carrots and dessert. Price-wise, it was reasonable considering it came as a set. Twice cooked pork hits the spot. It was plenty and had some to go. Galbi was decent... it's not like Korean Galbi. It was pretty saucy, sweet and tender. It was decent portion as well. Think we found our new late night spot! The lounge like ambiance, along with their diner-like menu, is a major selling point for folks and has been one of the reasons for their popularity over the better part of the last two decades. It is a bit trendy and plays music that you would think of and in a Miami lounge or a pretentious New York Club. While service is not their strong suit, the clean bathrooms, spacious seating, and semi-open kitchen makes up for some 'tudes from the staff. The menu is most definitely Asian, but blends from a predominantly Chinese menu and featuring various Taiwanese, Korean, Japanese items. The latter includes sushi, which is likely one of the only spots in the neighborhood that still has it after midnight. They have bluefin tuna and sea urchin, in which Cafe 101 is one of the only late night spots to offer it. Their beef chow fun is nice and greasy, but filled with excessive onions, bean sprouts, and various other veggies that almost take away from the noodles and beef (which was nicely cooked). Their shrimp and egg came in a nice set, which was a good surprise and surprisingly well executed. This is also a spot for Japanese curry, and even though it's not the best, it most certainly does the job. Taiwanese popcorn chicken is on point, cumin lamb is unsurprisingly spicy, and Singapore chow mai fun has a tinge of solid wok hei. (#1) I'm genuinely not a fan of their soups and think the sushi rolls are not their best work. While they also have milk, tea options, unless one is desperate, I would also steer clear of. Parking in the early evening can be an issue at Don Huang Plaza, but after 11pm, the parking options should be abundant. I would consider coming here in a larger group, especially with late night owls. ___________ (#1) Wok's essence (鑊氣)

The green tea flavor wasn't overly strong or dry wnd was very fragrant-- super tasty~ It came in a recyclable little sling carrier too, super cute :) I love how the brand focuses on real fruit, milk/cream so there aren't any artificial ingredients lurking around. You can order at the kiosk or at the cashier. For sweetness customization, they only have full level, less sweet, and no sugar options. The less sweet is already plenty sweet for me, so wish there was a slightly less sweet option than that. The service was polite and friendly, and the inside was clean with several tables.
