We were yearning for some noodles. Tea Light was open and we were close. We reviewed the menu and decided on #1grilled pork vermicelli (bun) and #3 grilled chicken bun with 2 spring rolls. I know from the past experiences that their noodles are room temperature. We asked the owner if they could be warmed. No problem he said. The fish sauce was placed on the table. The order arrived quickly afterwards. Both of us wished the ratio of lettuce to protein were more equal. In this case it was heavy on the greens. Everything in the dishes was fresh and flavorful. It was a nice marinade on the chicken. The spring rolls were crispy and delicious. Not oily and full of crunch. They have both meat and veggie spring rolls. Granddaughter yearned for Vietnamese spring rolls so I remembered there was this place that was close enough. Ordered spring rolls 3 for $11. Two orders one for her and one for me. Big mistake. The rolls arrived with 1/2 shredded carrots, 1/2 lettuce with a few pieces of tofu. No cilantro to be found or mint anywhere. When I asked the chef said "there's a little bit in there". Not true or acceptable. Cilantro and mint are key to a good spring roll. This is not my first rodeo with spring rolls; I know what good is. I should have requested one order first and then I would have known NOT TO ORDER A SECOND FAILED DISH. the accompanying brown sauce which I thought was peanut sauce was some kind of version of something. Tasted like a type of hoisin sauce and sprinkling a few peanuts on top does not make it peanut sauce. I had also ordered a Vegetable PHO with tofu and cilantro, green onions, a few bean sprouts and jalapeños. Very fresh tasting but the broth had no depth so it was just passable. My daughter has been really into pho lately. This was the third place we have tried in the valley and it seemed overpriced for the quality and quantity served. I had the #3 which is 2 beef egg rolls and was served in a bowl with rice noodles, beef, lettuce. My daughters shrimp pho was ok but she said it was a smaller serving than the other places. This cafe is tucked away in a huge plaza. They offer classic Vietnamese food and boba! The service took a while but the food was good. I had the grilled pork chop with rice and added an additional egg for the extra yums! Pho for me is like chicken noodle soup. It is my comfort food, and knowing that my pho is coming from a family-run business makes it a little more comforting. There are not many options for Vietnamese food in the area, so Tea Light Cafe was my go-to due out of convenience. The restaurant is a small space, but there is a decent amount of seating inside and outside. The menu is small, but it covers the basics. There are egg rolls, spring rolls, a few types of pho, a few noodles, and a few rice dish. There is also boba as well. The Tea Light special - 2 egg rolls, a spring roll, and a bowl of pho - is a good deal, but it is dine-in only. Overall, the food is good. I have had better, but Arizona is not known for Vietnamese food so this might be about as good as it gets. The entrees come in only one size and is on the smaller side. Get some egg rolls or spring rolls if you have a hearty appetite, or get the Tea Light Special. The Tea Light special will fill you up. The food is pretty affordable. The staff is nice. Service is quick. Parking is plentiful. This is a good spot for either dine-in or take out. read more

My wife and I showed up at 7:35 p.m. to eat dinner on a Friday night, and the gentleman working the cash register told me that they had closed the dining room at 7:30 p.m. I asked him if he would make an exception since it was only 5 minutes past and he refused. Indeed the GPS has absolutely no idea where this place is. Instead of using the yelp address we used google maps and 7000 E Mayo Blvd,#1084, Phoenix, AZ to get here. My favorite was the chili paste! (Actual chili paste not to be confused with Sriracha awesomeness) Be careful it has quite the kick though! The service was friendly and really FAST. The egg rolls were great (a close second to my favorite Viet place in SLC of all places - but still really great!). The beef pho was really good but a little thin on the flavor compared to what I'm used too. I added some chili paste, sriracha and hoisin saw and voila - pho excellence! I've eaten pho all over the world and this place is a solid four stars. I wouldn't pay undue attention to that one angry Yelper that dissed this place with one star a few month back. Maybe just a bad day - or an angry review borne of his own illness induced delirium. I almost bailed based on his review but I'm glad I didn't let the ranting sway me. I hate to write this review as I've met the owner several times and have dined at their Scottsdale 101 location for many years. I even dined at their location in Sedona, though it didn't last very long. I would like to think their quality and portions have declined due to inflation and post-Covid. That said, I still think it's up to the owner to still serve the best meals he can, especially since they have been pretty good for a long time. My wife has been a more loyal customer since the restaurant is across the street from her Yoga studio and it was her go to place for a nice bowl of Vegetable Pho. The two most noticable changes are: 1) they really skimp on the bean sprouts and jalapeno slices and 2) their vegetable Pho broth seems to now have MSG. My wife is pretty sensitive to MSG and it really zings her head after she has it. Their vegetable Pho broth has always been pretty clean and MSG free, but now, I'm not sure how they make it. read more

Went into restaurant at 7:35pm to order dinner to eat in. Restaurant closes at 8pm. They would not serve us to dine in as they said dining room closes at 7:30. Very misleading online. Do you ever eat somewhere and wish you could rate it infinite stars? Well Tea Light Cafe is that place. I ordered the pork vermicelli and each bite was better than the last. The noodles were cooked perfectly along with the meat. My Thai tea was also equally as delicious. I did an order for takeout and they prepared it in a reasonable time and the staff was very friendly. My wife and I walked into this restaurant at 7:15. Even though they don't close until 8pm, we were told that they were "only offering to-go because they close soon". We decided to take the food and eat at the tables outside and were told that we could do so as long as we didn't bring any condiments outside with us and made sure to "clean up after ourselves". We thought it wasn't great customer service but it wasn't terribly inconvenient since we were originally planning on eating outside anyways. However, while we sat outside, we saw the one table that was eating inside get forced to move outside at 7:20 so the employee could clean the dining room. Two more groups of customers walked in and I'm assuming they were told the same thing because they quickly left without ordering. Unfortunately because of the fact that the employee is assumingely more motivated to clock out right at closing time than she was to providing good customer service, the company lost multiple customers this evening. We value good customer service and are loyal to restaurants that provide that, so we most likely won't be back to this restaurant. Ps. We were done eating and left 15 minutes before they technically closed. We completely understand how it's rude to walk in to order right before a restaurant closes but 45 minutes seems like way too soon to stop serving customers. Even 40min before they close . Used to have stand up service when the owner and his wife were here more often. read more
