These donuts are like mini works of art! This is my "go to" place whenever I want to bring a treat into the office to share with my team. People are always impressed by home unique and pretty these donuts are and I am constantly singing the praises of Tastease! The shop is on a busy street, but there always seems to be at least temporary parking right out front to stop in and grab what you are looking for. The woman behind the counter always suggests to me that I should order in advance, and offered me a card with phone number, etc, but I am more of a last minute kind of girl, so I am willing to take what's left of the donut selection when I walk in. I had the pleasure of working with Tastease for a work event. I called them and requested several boxes of mixed donuts but for all donuts to have same design. They were more than happy to do so and had donuts ready for me day of event at 9am. These truly are a thing of beauty. Anyone who could take the time and dedication it takes to decorate this little tiny things, in such a stunning way....well, they really are pieces of edible artwork! Hubby got us a dozen of the mini donuts (as soon as I can. i will try to upload the pics). The pictures shown above are of the 'midi' donuts which are a bit bigger. These are 2.25 inches across (yes, i just got out a tape measure!) LOL..... They are soft and tasty, the ones we got were all of the 'old fashioned' cake type donuts...Chocolate Honey Dipped, plain with chocolate or vanilla frosting and sprinkles or nonpareils, some with different swirls and such (like in the pics Ron has provided)..... They are perfectly light tasting, NOT IN THE SLIGHTEST BIT greasy! They absolutely are a perfect little snack to cure your sweet toothed craving! LOL As both the other reviewers said, the woman who owns this place is an absolute dear. Hubby said she could not be any nicer! It was difficult to get a parking spot since the store only offers off-street parking... but whatevs. It's Hartford. Didn't take too long to walk over. I walked in and chatted with a man and a woman about the weather, bundling up, etc- so sweet! The shop front is modest with minimal decor and a decent eating area. I only ordered a half dozen since my H and I are in the midst of eating better (hahaha). The price for what you get is so extremely affordable. It blew my mind that half a dozen "midi" donuts were just $3 including tax. A whole dozen was a little under $6. I let the woman pick for me as I had no idea what flavor was what since there aren't any signs indicating such. I will say- the pictures on Yelp were real! The donuts are SOOOO darling! H and I didn't eat-in, but took the goods home to savor. They weren't blow-your-mind delicious (as I've had better), but considering the area in Parkville and the store's competition (Starbucks, Dunkin' Donuts and one local Hispanic bagel/donut shop), I'd rather come here. The donuts are delicious!!! Cute little things that are the perfect size so you don't feel too guilty for eating one (or two, or three...). I didn't know about the calling ahead rule, so I had to get multiple of the same type of donut in my box of a dozen. You can call in whenever--even when the store is not open-- and leave a message of how many donuts you want and what time you'd be pick it up the next day. It's a very nice little shop. Doughnuts are great for the look, but don't actually taste that great. The new owners were much better and the prices have sky rocketed (almost $1 per). The flavored doughnuts (ex. Red velvet) are bad at best. They have no flavor and are definitely not made with the best ingredients. There are some flavors that used to be made that they don't make anymore... especially seemingly ones that cost more to make. My boyfriend and I stopped on in morning for breakfast. We were in search of trying some the restaurants and bakeries that were in close proximity to our apartment. Tastease popped up and we decided to give it a try. What a great choice! We each ordered a coffee, egg & cheese, along with a variety of their donuts. The owner and her son were working at the time. She was so sweet and a pleasure to talk to while we were there. The donuts were incredible! The variety of flavors and toppings was great. The donuts are the perfect size and allow for multiple to be enjoyed. I am normally not a fan of cake donuts, but Tastease changed my opinion with my first bite. Our breakfast sandwiches were freshly made and were enjoyed hot. The coffee was your standard, but it freshly brewed and flavorful. This was my first time ever trying this donut shop so I didn't know about the calling ahead 'rule' which everyone here is describing. If I knew in advance I would have certainly taken others up on their advice. A lot of flavors, including some of the chocolate varieties that sounded like they might be good to try were sold out today. The cherry filled ones which I did order did surprise me though.. in a good way. I had never tried cherry filled donuts before since I don't really like cherries as a fruit to begin with. But they were surprisingly pretty good. There was a generous amount of filling inside, which is not always the case. So even thought I wasn't able to get the whole variety of different flavor rs which I had wanted to try, I did like the ones that were available. Prices were reasonable too, probably even a little cheaper compared to another national donut 'giant'. More than likely, I would go back. Now I know to call ahead next time! Like many people, I have a pretty big sweet tooth and I had a craving for a really good donut. I've seen the place on Yelp and Instagram and was excited to finally try it out on my only day off. I didn't know what to expect, the place was smaller than I thought and so were the donuts. But for such a small place and mini donuts, boy did they offer such a big variety! I would define the place as small but mighty! Freshly baked and the mini donuts let you eat more than one (or justifies eating many of them). Whoa! How did I not know about this place sooner? Thanks Yelpies for putting the word out there because this place is impressive. I brought 2 dozen of these little guys to work this morning. The owner (forgot his name) and what I'm assuming is his wife (??) were there with another gentlemen. These three people must be the nicest people on earth! I told the lady that it was my first time and the owner came out of nowhere and pretty much congratulated me and then showed me what every flavor was. He then microwaved me a pancake donut. I didn't want to eat it, it was that cute. But I did. And then I fell in love. Sweet, warm, perfect texture, perfect serving size. Just amazing. The owner and the other guy looked on as I took the first bite. I think I did the crossed eyed, shoulder-bouncy maneuver that I always do when I taste perfection. They got quite the kick out of it too. These folks have mastered the donut and they know it. The red velvet and german chocolate... mmmmm. My favorites so far, because I haven't tried them all. They are almost gone at my job and I bought them a little over an hour ago. Good stuff. I went here a while back after hearing the good reviews. It was early in the morning on a weekday and I was the only customer in the small shop. I'm accustomed to very customer-service oriented restaurants where the employee greets me first, so entering true mom-and-pop establishments can be a bit daunting for my shy self. I ordered half a dozen donuts and a small coffee. After I had purchased my order, I saw a sign behind the counter that advertised "buy a coffee and get two donuts free"- which is a fantastic deal. As far as the food goes, the coffee was a quintessential cup-o-joe, as I had expected. The donuts? I'm a little ambivalent about. The small size is perfect and toppings are enticing. However, most of the flavors were the exact same dough- a dense, cakey dough that was is not overly sweet and not my ideal donut. The ratio of donut to frosting was about 3:1. Eating the donuts were an almost laborious task of getting through the almost sour dough to the speck of sweet frosting. All that said, I did enjoy the red velvet donut which had a softer, more flavorful cake and had a nice balance with the cream cheese frosting. read more

As others have said, the popularity of this place is really taking off. I stopped by on a whim when I was in the area and there was only a box of 2 1/2 dozen left. Obviously I immediately committed to this challenge. The fact that she had anything left meant I couldn't turn it down. The owner is so sweet and next time I'll be calling ahead. The donuts themselves are adorable I *almost* didn't want to eat one to ruin the perfect display. They have just the right amount of sweetness, the cake itself is the star of the show. As a side note, the location is not the nicest neighborhood in Hartford. It certainly wouldn't deter me from going but I would't plan on hanging out at the shop itself. Overrated. This spot is iconic and makes donuts lists like in "500 Things to Eat Before it's Too Late" but these donuts were duds to me. Their schtick is very small, ornamented in 30-40 different variations. Many of these donuts are hardly different from each other (a little frosting here, a little glaze there). Regardless, the donuts were dense and generally unsatisfying. Now, if you're idea of a perfect donut is Dunkin's then this place might be good for you but for me this joint just doesn't give me the kind of donut I love. First visit here was SAT 2/22/14 & we'll DEFINITELY be back!! Not only are Tony & Susan the Sweetest people you'd ever wanna meet but the food and donuts - are OMG OMG!!! I didn't realize how popular this place is and arrived sometime after 12noon to find they only had THREE donuts left - which was perfect since there were 3 of us. I had the Cuban and my son's each had a different breakfast sandwich and Yuumm!!! You can taste the freshness of all he uses for the sandwiches (he even roasts the pork there in-house) and the Bread that Tony uses for his sandwiches is delivered fresh from a bakery in another state and all I can say is ~ WHOA!! I've never tried the food although I heard their Cubans are great. However, I LOVE their donuts. They're my go to anytime I'm attending an event where I need to bring a food. $18/3doz cant go wrong! The donuts themselves are more cake like type of donuts (Entennman's vs Krispy Kreme) they come in a wide variety of unlisted flavors but the owners can tell you which is which. Personally I really couldn't care less about knowing because they're ALL so delicious. The owners are so friendly & so dedicated to their shop. I've been there plenty of times and haven't been helped by anyone except them, they deserve their Sundays off!
