Milk teas weak and taste like dirt

With a boba selection that OC has to offer, I would not choose Tastea. I got a thai tea and it was the most watered down drink I've ever had. My bf got a combo of Thai tea and Vietnamese coffee and you couldn't taste the Thai tea at all and the "Vietnamese" coffee just tasted like a bland regular black coffee. Before I didn't really understand why people liked this place so much, but I gave Tastea another chance recently and I think my view has changed about this place! The main reason was that I found out you can substitute the usual black tea for green or white tea. I prefer green tea way more than black tea! I love that they have unique creations and offer various fruit bits for the toppings. PEACH ME SWEET TEA: This is my absolute favorite out of the fruity tea drinks that they offer. I always substitute it for green tea now and adjust the sweetness level to 50%. PEACH ME FREEZIE: This is the perfect drink for those hot days! It's just the slushy version to the tea drink. They also include fruit bits too! MATCHA THAI MILK TEA: Decided to try this since it was listed on their top specialty drinks. This drink was decent. Honestly tasted like a matcha milk tea. The way they made this drink didn't seem to work like how other places make it. Not one of my favorites and I don't think I'd get this again. OVERALL: I like their fruity creations and the fact that their large size is HUGE! Definitely worth the price you pay. This is a nice and clean store with nice looking interior. There's some seating here but somehow not much seating outside! It's not just for this store but most stores in this area lack outside seating. You're greeted by very friendly cashiers and baristas here who are very helpful. I ordered the Golden Milk Tea which is Assam Tea (black tea) with milk. You can add boba or toppings of your choosing for an additional amount. They have a 32oz serving size as well. That's huge!! I got that size so I can save some for later. Their pricing was a little on the higher side, even for the area and their 20oz. Specially for the toppings not being included. But again it's on between $.50-1. You can get a cool rewards card here too. Just ask the cashier. Now that there are so many different locations and good boba spots everywhere, it's not quite as magical or hyped anymore but it's still a good spot to get a refreshing drink or snack. This new Irvine location is fine. The drinks tastes consistent with other locations and the workers are competent. I will say this parking lot can get crazy during weekends so you might want to avoid it during peak hours, but overall a good addition to the plaza. I absolutely love this boba cafe! We've tried almond milk tea, honeydew milk, golden milk, Thai milk, and taro milk tea and they have all been delicious. So far it's a toss up between taro and honeydew. Next time we need to try the jasmine milk tea since it's one of their most popular. They have jug options, which was great for bringing to work. Their prices are what you'd expect for boba anywhere, so no surprises. They also have a good amount of add-ins. Finally a boba place in a plaza lot closer to UCI!! The first time I checked this place out about 2 weeks ago, my boyfriend and I ordered the Sea Salt Jasmine Tea and Jasmine Milk Tea (less sugar, less ice + honey boba). The drinks themselves were fantastic. They had the strong tea flavor I always want in milk tea but also the great harmony of creaminess from the milk. We didn't know that their boba would be green, but I guess it matched the overall aesthetics of their logo? It was cooked to perfection, right amount of chew. However, the translucent green of the boba really throws me off and reminds me of the slime kids play with but in ball form, just doesn't seem as appealing as your OG black boba balls. Today, we came back again since we loved it so much the first time and much closer than 7Leaves from campus. This time I tried the Golden Milk Tea (less sugar, less ice + regular boba), which is basically your OG black (assam) milk tea. Definitely still a good one. The one most disappointing was the boba once again... Unfortunately, they were way too overcooked to the point where it reminded me of mush that I would swallow rather than enjoy chewing... So stars for the drink but minus stars for the boba. Probably should have went with some other topping like grass jelly since it won't be that weird green color. Also regular size 20oz was $4.25 and 32oz was $6.00; toppings additional $0.60. Definitely on the pricier side, but can't beat its location. We also tried their Karate Chicken with medium kick and ranch. It was not really worth the $5.25. The portion size was good but the taste and texture of the chicken was not for me. The individual pieces were heavily covered with breading to the point where I question if there was actually chicken in that piece or just deep fried bread. As for choosing medium kick, that spice really covers the overall taste of the chicken. Don't really recommend but it was nice to try it once. They have a couple of tables on the side with plenty of outlets, but still seems a bit claustrophobic as a place to study. More of a boba shop for a quick hangout to grab a drink and maybe some snacks. The service is pretty quick and plenty of parking. They also have a rewards card you can sign up for now. TL;DR: love its location with respect to UCI and the plaza it is in. Great tea drinks. Slightly expensive $4 - $6/drink. It is a tea place. It is next to the UPS Store and Cookie Connection in the Crossroads. Their large is a 32oz, which is the same size as Class 302's large (but not in dimensions, so it will still fit in a car cup holder, so one is paying for a cup that will fit in a car cup holder if one uses the Class 302 coupon to reduce the price there). Add-ons are extra, so after that 10% off coupon with Yelp check-in disappeared, it made me less comfortable with buying both food and items that were more expensive there. (I was looking forward to using it.) A jug size is also available, so that's a benefit over Class 302. The tea's sweetness and ice are customizable. With no ice, the tea tasted sour but I liked it anyway. My tourist friend thought otherwise. I overheard that samples were not available since they were made to order. During the time of our visit there were 2-3 people in front of us and it came out at a medium speed. The staff was nice. Very few seats inside, some outside. read more
