This place is committed to single use plastic pollution by not allowing customers to use their reusable cups. Starbucks allows it, Peet's coffee next door allows it, Tapioca Express, Lol and Tea Station all allows it. In fact Tapioca Express and Starbucks both give you a discount for using your own cup. I explained all of this to the manager, and he simply refuses, simply saying it's policy. Why? It makes no sense! You guys WANT to pollute the oceans with single use plastic. Don't go here. I'm really disappointed at the drinks I got at Tastea today. This is coming from someone who used to work at Tastea in San Jose. The Wintermelon Green Milk Tea tasted like sugar and water, the Matcha Thai Milk Tea was very bland, the Sea Foam Jasmine Iced Tea tasted like water with a hint of tea. Also, the boba wasn't green. I've had all these drinks before, and they tasted nothing like what I remember. Their signature topping is the (green) honey boba. I don't think I found a favorite milk tea, but they have a list of their top 10 recommendations to help you make a decision. If you already know what you want and you're in a rush, they now offer online orders from their website. Additionally, they offer drinks in larger containers if you need some in bulk for an event or meeting. I love the variety of colorful pastel straws they offer --which is not super important, but it's a nice touch. They have a few benches on the side for anyone who needs to connect their laptop to study but I don't believe there is free wifi. The Tea: Tastea goes out of their way to have fun and interesting drink options which i really enjoy! A personal favorite is the Golden Milk Tea (essentially just plain milk tea), as well as the Booty Shaker. A pro-tip is to ask for half ice or just no ice at all, you get a lot more of for the $4.25 price point and its still super refreshing. I do have to agree with some previous yelpers on the fact that the tea can be a little bit lacking consistency in that the tea often changes per visit, but if I'm honest, the tea remains to taste good regardless and I can only assume consistency will improve as the store becomes more established (its still quite new!) The Chicken: I think the chicken sold here, builds the review to 5 stars. Honestly SO GOOD. for the $6 price point, you typically get enough chicken for two days, WORTH. I recently became acquainted with Tastea in Costa Mesa and I was lamenting that it was a bit too far for regular visits, so I was ecstatic to find out about their grand opening in Irvine today. They really didn't disappoint! Despite it being crazy busy, the staff was super quick and efficient. What sets Tastea apart from other nearby tea places like Cha and Lollicup is that they offer white tea (my fav!) and a huge 32 ounce cup. 20 ounces is fine for me, but it's a godsend for my gf, who is a notorious tea fiend. Another perk is that they have a loyalty card, which saved us $2.50 today! We got the Great White (peach), the Bootea Shaker (mango, peach, and pineapple w/ black jelly), and some of their popcorn chicken. The staff is very willing to make tweaks to their specialty drinks, so my gf was able to enjoy her Bootea Shaker with green tea instead of the usual black. I initially thought their popcorn chicken was a little pricey compared to other places, but you get pretty a generous portion (and it's delicious, too, which is the most important thing!). I was so excited for this location to open. When it did, I was obsessed and literally went 3+ times a week. I always get the Peach Me Sweetea or the Peach me Freezie smoothie. However recently, I've been noticing that the Freezie has been different- the consistency is more icey and watery instead of the smoothie texture it was before. And it started having that fake sugar taste! Perhaps the ingredients changed, or new hirers made it. Their milk teas are unimpressive to me. Will totally give a 5/5 for boba because it's super unique. Got the lychee freeze and it came with rainbow jelly and little bits of actually lychee, which I've never had anywhere else. And the boba is green. I thought they were giving me green peas lol. However, the service is rather poor. My drink never came out and it was never even on their board of drinks to make so I waited extra and had to retell the lady what I ordered. I love their Oat milk and stevia options since other spots don't have those options and I try not to eat too much sugar. Try the Matcha Thai Tea with Oat Milk, Honey Boba, and stevia! My two favorite drinks are their House Coffee & their seasonal watermelon heaven slush -- oh and I love their green boba. Definitely recommend if you're in the mood for a boba that won't disappoint. Giving 3 star because this location is a little bit off compared to other locations. They want to get it done fast so every drink is premade, and it is not fresh. At first, I was surprised because I got my order right away after finishing the payment. About the drink, it is OK, MEANING NOT TOO GOOD JUST OK TO DRINK. I love tastea but quite disappointed about the quality of Irvine location. I would recommend to make it fresh so that customers would enjoy the fresh drink not the already made milk tea with a lot of milk and the scent of tea already faded away. I ordered golden black milk tea with whole milk. However, because they already made it so they can not change it to whole milk. They said to me it is made with whole milk as always. But it is not true, I can feel the taste of creamer on my tongue. At the other locations, I have to admit that they made with whole milk, and it is really authentic. There is one thing more. The employee did not really responsive to customer's request. They just give an altitude of not care at all when I asked if they did my drink right with a whole milk replacement. I love Tastea!!! Honestly, you can't go wrong here. I've been frequenting the Costa Mesa location and once the Irvine store location opened, which is closer to me, I can't stop buying their boba. My favorite is the Sunset Peach. The sweet fruit flavors paired with the tart green mango pieces go together so perfectly! This store is also on par with service as the other locations I've been to. You order your drink, and you get your drink pretty much as soon as you've finished putting your credit card back in your wallet. The food here is also delicious. I love their karate chicken and the fries. They come out piping hot and full of flavor. Definitely be warned that the spice levels are hotter than many other places. The lowest level already has a little kick to it, so be careful with the higher up levels. The one downside to this store is the music inside is always extremely loud, and when the blenders are going full force it can be difficult to have a conversation. When I go with my friends, we always sit outside so we can hear each other. Other than that though, the drinks and food are incredible, which is really what I'm coming here for! read more

My go-to's are always the great white tea with honey boba or the watermelon heaven when it's in season. You honestly can't go wrong with any of the fruit teas though. (I can't speak as much to the milky drinks). I also love their popcorn chicken and appreciate that it comes in different spice levels. The service is always awesome and the drinks come out fast considering they are almost always packed when I go. Crystal and Cameron were so nice and helpful. I came one night close to closing time and they immediately stopped their cleaning to greet and help me out. I haven't been to a Tastea in a while and I finally got to visit this new Irvine location! Pretty spacious with a bunch of modern furniture and waiting area for your drinks. Perfect for studying or chatting with friends. I really like the Lychee Peachee and I love their 32oz size for when I just want to share with someone. Their drinks are something that I just don't get sick of especially because they have real fruit bits in them and fresh tasting tea. I love that you can choose white tea instead for lower calories. I just wish they could do 70% sugar just because sometimes I feel like 50% is too little since their drinks are not crazy sweet in the first place. Their snacks are also great! The kitchen closes an hour earlier than when they close their store. Karate chicken with weak sauce is the way to go! Buttload of fries REALLY sells it's name - they really give a buttload of fries and it is perfectly peppery and crunchy on the outside, but fluffy on the inside. The guy that took my order forgot to put in boba to the order which is fine. So I kindly asked when I got my drink that I'm missing boba. The barista (an young asian black haired girl) looked at me with a weird face because it doesn't say on the ticket, then asked her higher up if I asked for boba in my drink. The guy she asks says just give it to him it's fine. She comes back to me and in rude tonality tells me next time we are going to charge you for boba. I said I know, I asked for boba at the cashier. She tells me next time to check the order. What? I don't work as the cashier, the cashier should verify the order to me if this needs to happen, but this is the cashier's job. If a customer complains that the order stated isn't given to him then just fix it. Don't tell me to repeat the order to you lol. Ridiculous. Not to mention you already got the ok from your higher up to put in boba. I heard what he said, he didn't tell you to tell me to repeat my order to you. You are not the cashier nor are you the higher up. You are the barista that was instructed to just put in boba, hold the rudeness next time to yourself and just make the drinks without the attitude. We ordered popcorn chicken and milk tea. Milk tea is very average and still too sweet for 50% less sugar. Popcorn chicken is super salty ( I even asked to go easy on the seasoning) and all small pieces/crumbs. I probably will never come back to this place. read more
