I wanted to share my recommendation for Arizona Eye Specialists in Gilbert, Arizona. It is an…read moreoutstanding office and an excellent choice for medical and general eye care. The facility is located in a large medical complex with convenient and ample parking. Dr. Elliott Janousek, O.D., is an exceptional professional. He provides comprehensive eye exams that check visual acuity, depth perception, and eye coordination to detect issues like cataracts or macular degeneration. He also performs systemic health screenings to identify overall health issues affecting the eyes, such as diabetes and hypertension. Additionally, Dr. Janousek is highly skilled in prescribing topical and oral medications for eye infections, allergies, and inflammation, and he provides excellent surgical co-management before and after procedures performed by their seasoned ophthalmologist. The eye exam process is very efficient. The optical technician, Heep, is professional and thorough during the initial medical review and pressure testing. The practice also utilizes retinal and fundus photography to capture detailed digital images of the inside of the eye to screen for diseases. The administrative staff is equally wonderful. Maddy at the reception desk is always cheerful, helpful, and accommodating with scheduling. Please note that this is a very popular and busy office. I highly recommend scheduling any follow-up appointments on the same day as your visit to avoid scheduling delays.

After following up with my PCP, they resent the referral, and someone finally called me in early August. The earliest available appointment was in October, but a week before the appointment, it was canceled. I rescheduled for November, and on the morning of that appointment, they canceled again. To make matters worse, they only send text messages to notify you of cancellations--no calls to explain or help reschedule. After this frustrating and unprofessional experience, I gave up and went elsewhere.

On April 19th 3 pm I took time off work to get an eye exam. I was told that they were running…read morebehind due to an "emergency" they had. Ok, fine no problem. I wondered around their 10 x 10 office looking at frames. They called me back and did the preliminary exam, the annoying puff in the eye thing, and then sent me back to wait. I began to notice people who had come in after me going back to be examined, picked out glasses and left. One unhappy customer came in, argued and left. Two hours later someone came over and asked me if I had been seen yet. I told them I had but was waiting to see the Dr. Since I really didn't have much to do that day and understand that some days things just happen, I wasn't concerned. At 4:30 I got my exam and got my frames. Over $1000.00 later, and the last customer in the office, I left. They told me my glasses would be ready in 1 week to 10 days. Two weeks later, no glasses. My husband called to inquire about my glasses and they told them they forgot to order them! Ok, so what are you going to do? Please order them. I'm a pretty passive person. Today is May 26th, and I have no glasses. I think my patience has run out. I got my first pair of glasses here about 8 yrs ago and a couple pairs since then. Since that time their selection has gone down hill (the girl with the exceptional taste in frames has left) and their service has gone to hell! If this was my business I would be seriously concerned. I would have written this sooner but I can't FREAKING SEE TO WRITE IT BECAUSE I DONT HAVE MY GLASSES! I'll go to the mall before I ever go here again!

I have been a patient at this practice since the prior owner years ago. Historically, this has been…read morean amazing experience. Dr N and then Dr Y are kind, caring and attentive. The office staff for years were excellent and accurate at helping you choose glasses and fitting. The last few exams have declined in terms of front office experience, which includes getting progressives fitted correctly and when my family receives their glasses. This year, I went in Dec before Christmas. Patient arriving late for her appointment was taken before me, making me very late. Then, Dr. Y recommended additional testing based on the test results. I was sent out to await those tests. The staff assured me I had received them up front before Dr Y advised me I needed them, and billed insurance for it. They went so far as to argue that I didn't know what I was talking about. Then, during the visit, my request for them to see if a specific frame came in different color frustrated their staff member. She lost patience with my need for a super light frame. I went back in person after Christmas because of a billing issue and with my spouse because his new glasses were not working out and he'd paid more than he should have with our insurance.. Again, they argued, only to later confirm that they were wrong and had billed for services never rendered for me and overcharged my spouse. They also determined they had not fitted my spouse properly. They never once suggested I come back for the testing they'd charge for, and I hadn't received. which is fine since I had decided to move to a new practice. I took my prescription from Dr Y to a new location and filled it, and after getting new pair, found my new prescription issued by Dr. Y is lower than the records indicate from what the office staff gave me for the pair I have been wearing for 2 years. And, 2 year old written script the staff gave me for my current pair doesn't match what is imprinted on that pair of glasses for that script. I'm paying out of pocket for a new exam at the new place and the new place is taking care of remakes for free. They want to confirm what my prescription should be after the oddity of my former and new scripts from Advanced Eye Care. As for my spouse, he was charged $195 more than he should have and we had to argue to prove our insurance covered what they charged him for. She says he'll get it back when his glasses come in. He's been waiting for them to arrive (a rush order) since 12/26...it is Feb 1. As soon as he's done, we're moving our family elsewhere. I'm sad to go...I loved being a patient here...we just can't anymore. We dread dealing with the staff, and taking time from work every year for the exam, and the later follow up to correct issues. We've left annual benefits on the table before because it's just a hassle dealing with the experience of getting new glasses.

I responded that while I've had the retina reattached, I've never had a shot placed in either of my eyes, ever. They refused to believe me, insisting that the notes in the file stated I did. I know what I've had done. I know why, how, when and where and by whom. To suggest that the patient doesn't know what has been done, is, in my opinion, asinine. Ask yourself: Do you want work done by a medical establishment that refuses to listen to the patient and the truth?
