She told me that I had severely dry eyes and I'd have to come back after not wearing glasses and using drops for a week. She also said I have glaucoma and got me a referral for a consult. THEN she said that if I get floaters I need to call 911 immediately and when I asked why she said it's because my retina detached. She also said I have high cholesterol (from my eyes???). All of this was said with drama and also rudeness. For the record, I am 41. Anyway, went back a week later (wore my contacts all week (no I didn't listen) and she said my eyes look MUCH better (uh ok) and she released my new contact prescription from being held hostage. That day I had to wait over an hour for her to see me. Yesterday, I went to the glaucoma consult. The PA was laughing when she got the image results because apparently they get this doctor's wacky consults all the time. My eyes are fine. There is no glaucoma (like at all...not even borderline). There is no reason to be worried about my retina detaching. Anyway, I am a very good judge of character and thought this doc was wrong from the get-go (although, I will admit I just found out my cholesterol is in fact borderline high), so I didn't freak out about any of this. I can only imagine she's going to scare the crap out of someone though and cause anxiety and panic! I will be finding a new eye doc asap and if you're looking for a new doc, don't go here.

They run pretty efficiently (from our family visits) and for my annual eye exam, I was done in about 30 mins. Dilation can still be done but with my busy schedule, I opt for the Optomap imaging and pay a bit more (~$25) as getting dilated & dealing with it all day is no longer doable. We needed to get some prescription sports sunglasses for the runner in the family. They carried a few of the Prescription Oakley of interest so it was good to go in and physically try them on (unlike online). To be clear, they were not cheap, but we reviewed all the options (tint color, reflection, etc...) and I have to admit, they look pretty sweet!!

I also enjoy the professionalism of Dr. Lam and all her staff. Not to mention, she's a gorgeous, intelligent and personable woman to chat with while you're getting your vision checked on. I learned a lot about my eyes that day and my options for when I decide to get Lasik done soon. I liked that her office also carries some of the luxury eyewear brands I enjoy wearing, but not overwhelming with too many options. Perhaps I expected them to be franchised and soulless, without any real people or knowledge beyond their slick marketing pieces. Sort of like politicians. It is occasionally nice to find that reality does not match your expectations, and BDP is one of those places. Everybody there was genuinely nice, and I had to do a lot of different tests with more than a few specialists. All of them took the time to explain what they were doing and the results. The docs assistants (who lets face it do most of the work, and are the unsung hero's) were all great as well and deserve a huge thumbs up as well.

He made me feel comfortable throughout the entire exam and took the time to answer all of my questions. I truly appreciated his care and would highly recommend him. Unfortunately, the experience at the front desk did not match the level of service provided by the doctor. The two customer service representatives were not welcoming or friendly, and they came across as unhelpful and dismissive. Especially the man, but the lady did not intervene at all to rectify the awful customer service being received. Nor, did she give off a nice or welcoming demeanor as well. It made what should have been a positive visit feel uncomfortable and unpleasant. I hope management takes this feedback seriously, because Dr. Diaz is excellent--but the front office experience needs significant improvement.
