When I first started going to Ocotillo Eyecare it was great! I liked the doctors and the folks out front were amazing. This last time I saw a new doctor. She told me that I had severely dry eyes and I'd have to come back after not wearing glasses and using drops for a week. She also said I have glaucoma and got me a referral for a consult. THEN she said that if I get floaters I need to call 911 immediately and when I asked why she said it's because my retina detached. She also said I have high cholesterol (from my eyes???). All of this was said with drama and also rudeness. For the record, I am 41. Anyway, went back a week later (wore my contacts all week (no I didn't listen) and she said my eyes look MUCH better (uh ok) and she released my new contact prescription from being held hostage. That day I had to wait over an hour for her to see me. Yesterday, I went to the glaucoma consult. The PA was laughing when she got the image results because apparently they get this doctor's wacky consults all the time. My eyes are fine. There is no glaucoma (like at all...not even borderline). There is no reason to be worried about my retina detaching. Anyway, I am a very good judge of character and thought this doc was wrong from the get-go (although, I will admit I just found out my cholesterol is in fact borderline high), so I didn't freak out about any of this. I can only imagine she's going to scare the crap out of someone though and cause anxiety and panic! I will be finding a new eye doc asap and if you're looking for a new doc, don't go here. read more

After reading Whitney M. and Christine M. review my jaw dropped to the floor. Our whole family has seen Dr Powell since I can remember. Yesterday my daughter saw the woman doctor and was told the same thing. High cholesterol and her retina's were detaching and to call 911 if she started seeing flashing lights. My daughter, who is 31 very fit and eats healthy, called me in tears. Scared to death that she was going to lose her eyesight. What is going on in that office? We have always absolutely loved Dr Powell. Unfortunately, we will be going elsewhere. read more

Almost same experience as Whitney H. Read her review. She said the same thing to me. Here is my review: Longest ever customer of Dr. Powell's. Love the office and my entire family has gone there. Not anymore. I saw Dr. Fajardo and I took too long (90 days) to let them know which contacts I want and now they are holding my prescription hostage. I paid for my exam and my prescription is good for an entire year, but they won't give it to me. They are claiming because I didn't come back for a fitting check that they won't let me order. The contacts are the same brand I had last year. As a customer of 20+ years, I have never had a problem like this. Dr. Fajardo sure isn't Dr. Powell. They say I have to pay for another exam fee + contact fee. Might as well do that somewhere else. I don't think Dr Powell or Bronaugh would be too happy to hear how Dr Fajardo is treating people, but when I suggested it might be time for me to leave the practice, the front office said "piece out". My prescription is being held hostage. read more

Unfortunately after 10+ years of going to Ocotillo Eye Care, I've had to move on to another provider. I've always paid a copay for a routine eye exam and the last two times I went, they charged me full price for the visit. Last year it was $97.69 and after contesting it with my insurance, they refunded me $77.07. This time it was $143.22 for a routine eye exam and they would not honor my insurances copay. They tried to get me to pay out of pocket at first in order to "save me money" rather than go through my insurance. After I tried calling back twice about my bill, they stated that after getting absorbed by My Eye Dr, they now bill as a facility vs as a Doctor, so it applies to my deductible vs them accepting my copay. This billing change was not disclosed in their welcome email regarding this ownership change, as I would not have booked the appointment if that was the case. The receptionist, billing department, and staff have always been amazing and were very nice during this process, plus Dr Horwitz is probably the best Optometrist I've ever seen, but this shady billing practice isn't worth continuing service here. After checking the BBB for My Eye Dr, this is a common practice where they don't bill your insurance properly or simply pressure you to pay full price. I would avoid conducting business here. read more

Everyone in the office goes ABOVE and BEYOND to make sure we get everything we need! Bought prescription Oakley shades for my softball teen and she couldn't be happier! Thank you Ocotillo Eyecare! Liz read more

I've been a client for over 20 years. I realize things have to change and staffing will change but I expect EVERYONE to make an effort to be professional. I frequently will give a pass to Doctors offices that are overwhelmed with sick patients, but this is not the case for Optometry. I don't like the new checkout system nor the hard upsell. I'm not sure if I'll return. read more

I am a long time patient of Dr Powell's. He is an excellent eye doctor. I also highly recommend his office. I recently needed my glasses adjusted and the Optician Bill worked wonders in just minutes. Highly recommend him for frame adjustments! read more

I can not say enough great things about this business. My wife and both my kids have received eye exams and glasses so I thought I would give me a try. The optometrist was awesome and the office Manager Lynn was just awesome to deal with. Was there a mix up on pricing, sure but she went above and beyond to take care of my new glasses and new Maui Jim's! With eyes being so important, I will not go anywhere else. Ocotillo Eye Care you have my entire families business!!! read more

I highly recommend Ocotillo Eyecare, from day one the entire communication has been wonderful via text, email and or phone calls. I schedule an appointment with Ocotillo Eye Care several weeks ago for a second opinion whom I had the pleasure to meet with Dr. Horwitz and I was so pleased...she is thorough, friendly and detailed oriented and was able to send me in the right direction and came up with a game plan and not try to upsell me in buying frames and move on to the next customer. Today 8/1/23 was my fitting for contacts and also had the pleasure in meeting Lynn their Office Manager. I was quite nervous as this is my very first experience trying on contacts and I must say, Lynn is fabulous! She walked me through the entire process of how to correctly put on and remove contacts. I must say, she's very patient and a fantastic instructor as I being an old mule actually learned something and I'm grateful for it. I truly recommend Ocotillo Eyecare for all your vision needs. Great staff and customer service! Thank you, read more

they billed my insurance wrong. Had to call me back 2 months later to Tell me to give them more money. When we're supposed to order the contacts, they were the wrong contacts so technically I didn't even get a correct fitting, had to call him two weeks later because they didn't order the trial contacts. When trial contacts came in, they were the wrong prescription. So after I called them multiple times and sent text messages. I never got a response and finally had to go in order the same contact subscription I had before I even started the whole process. I do not recommend this to anybody. The experience has been completely awful. read more

The staff is Very friendly and helpful esp Lynn. Great office atmosphere. we are glad to find this office. Highly recommend this office

I drove from Tempe for 25 minutes to pick up my new glasses & contacts only to arrive 10 minutes after they were closed. I was about to get back in my car disappointed, but I decided to take a chance and knock on the door. To my surprise & delight, Lynn opened the door!! ...not only did she open the door, she did so with a smile on her face & a GREAT attitude!! She even complimented my outfit. I'm soooo glad I found Ocotillo Eyecare! The entire staff is amazing; ESPECIALLY Lynn & Andrea. read more

Everyone was very accommodating. Lynn, who walked us through different frames and provided her expert recommendations, was especially helpful. read more

All of the staff is amazing here. I always have a great experience when I come in. Last night I accidentally slept on my glasses and bent them. Badly. I brought them in and they were able to bend them back and you can't even tell! Saved me hundreds of dollars. Thanks so much! read more

Great first experience as a walk in with my son to look at frame options for sports. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful to look at their selection of frames. Lynn Gannon was so kind and eager to assist us, sharing her own experiences with her kids that were in sports and wearing glasses vs contacts. She was quick to get trial contacts lined up and schedule us for contact training and a trial period of contacts. As a family new to glasses, I was at ease and my son was encouraged talking with Lynn. We are already impressed by their customer care, flexibility in scheduling, and their follow up communication. read more

These people are fantastic. Lynn Gannon helped me find glasses, and sunglasses, that have been awesome. She even refurbished my old glasses to use with my computer to minimize blue light, which I love and use daily. When I had an issue with fit, they worked with me to make the glasses as comfy as possible. I have only high praise for Ocotillo Eyecare! read more

Thanks for supporting military families and all of your clients so well! read more

The Very Best! I have been attending Dr. Powell at Ocotillo Eyecare for over 11 years, having moved here from Europe. I am so glad I found this location. Dr Powell is an exceptional Eye Doctor. He initially detected that I have a serious eye condition and referred me to specialist ophthalmologists for ongoing treatment. Dr Powell is very knowledgeable, experienced and down to earth. He takes time with the patient and explains everything in an understandable and clear and concise manner. I also have to compliment the front desk - Bronagh and Tyra are always so helpful and considerate and will fit me in to see a doctor, sometimes at very short notice, if I have anything I am concerned about. Finally, I have to give a shout out to Yahida, who always picks out the most stunning frames to suit me and can adjust them in just one go, so that they fit so comfortably (no easy task in my case). All in all this is a wonderful practice. I wouldn't trust my vision to anyone else. I highly recommend Ocotillo Eyecare! read more

Thanks Lynn for the perfect glasses and sunglasses. My daughter loves them! Will see you next year.

The overall staff was very nice and helpful. However they pushed for me to try contacts and didn't mention it would be an additional almost $70!!!! and the contact "help" to put them in just told me what every other eye place has nothing special or helpful. Always ask if it'll be an extra charge before saying yes here read more

Been having problems with my eyes outside of the normal vision issues. Have been going here for the last year for my eye health and have not had a Dr. I did not like. Not to mention when I have had issues they get me in right away. This last visit I called early afternoon to explain the issue I was having and they had me come in same day to get it checked out. When it comes to your eyes do not skimp out. Go to the professionals. You will never be disappointed and your eyes will thank you! read more

Ocotillo Eyecare, specifically Dr. Timothy C. Powell, has taken care of my annual vision exams for the last few years. I appreciate the care, professionalism, services and honesty that they provide. Dr. Powell is down-to-earth, easy to talk with, and stays current with the latest trends in Optometry. I highly recommend this practice and Dr. Powell! Now, on another note, the eyeglass business is run separately from the practice, from what I understand. You can get a better price on frames via Costco or the internet, but I will say that the service technicians in-house are pleasant and can order a wide variety of frames. Yes, there is a mark-up, but with regard to Oakley frames and lenses, they are expensive no matter where you buy them. I recommend this practice and Dr. Powell to family and friends all the time. A solid 5 stars! read more

Great service and no games. This is the best place for eye care. The team is so helpful, prompt, and welcoming. They also don't charge for exams your insurance company won't cover like other providers do. I've being going to Ocotillo Eye care for 25 years. Today I went in for my annual eye check up in Oder to get my scrip filled. they asked me about insurance when I checked in and I gave it to the front desk lady and I knew my insurance did not cover it. When it was time to pay I was asked to sit with the lady who job it is to sell me glasses or contacts. that was a first in 25 years, she started asking me about insurance again and asked if I needed to place an order? I said no I use Costco, she stated putting info in the computer and wanted to sell me on the in house price, I said No and left. So of course I leave without getting the scrip. I called back and asked them to email me my scrip and the lady who answered the phone said she would need to call me back. three hours later she called back and started trying to sell me the in house product. again I said I'm happy with a Costco, she wanted to know how much I paid for them? She starts selling me on the programs they have and at that point I said just email me my Scrip. Whats with the hard sell good lord It brought back memories of buying a used car. read more

Super pleased. Have visited 3 or 4 times over past year (I have contact/near sighted issues and it is not uncommon for me to see an eye doctor several times a year.) Was referred by a local friend who has been quite happy with the office/docs. I have seen Dr. Alsadi and he is knowledgeable, professional and easy to discuss my concerns with. The office staff is equally pleasant and efficient to work with. I came to this office due to my friend's recommendation and also convenient location for me. And I couldn't be happier at the moment. read more

My 15 year old daughter and myself had new patient appointments this morning and from my first call to schedule the appointment to checking out, they treated us with exceptional care! We were greeted immediately at check in, the office was clean and well kept, the medical equipment was current and the exam rooms were large and roomy. We saw Dr. Lisa Ho. She was so friendly, very thorough in her exam and she educated me on the importance of caring for my eyesight having hypertension and prediabetes. Upon choosing my eye wear, there were many popular brands to pick from. They ordered me a frame I loved, in the color I wanted. Justine, the technician, was so helpful. She was very knowledgeable with my vision benefits and even helped with choosing my glasses. I highly recommend this practice! read more

I recently got a reminder from Ocotillo Eye Care telling me it's time to get my eyes examined. It made me sad. This is one of the few things I really hate about relocating - having to leave a good provider. And Ocotillo Eye Care is an excellent provider, both in ophthalmology services and eye wear. Dr. Powell is great. I always felt my eyes were well cared for. But even better was his wife Brinna (I hope I spelled that right). Any woman will agree that, regardless of what the optometrist says, how the glasses look on your face is the most important reason to pick an eye care place. Brinna has the magic touch. She will spend whatever time is necessary finding the perfect specs. And she only orders one of everything so that you don't walk into others wearing your glasses all over town. (Take that, Lenscrafters mass-market approach) Further, when I've had trouble, even months later, I've gone in and had the problem immediately resolved. I can't say enough about the service I've gotten here, from walk-in to walk-out. They're fantastic! read more
