Neighborhood hidden gem that I wished we learned about years ago. The office staff is friendly. Dr. Blaine is great and provides answers that "make sense". They run pretty efficiently (from our family visits) and for my annual eye exam, I was done in about 30 mins. Dilation can still be done but with my busy schedule, I opt for the Optomap imaging and pay a bit more (~$25) as getting dilated & dealing with it all day is no longer doable. We needed to get some prescription sports sunglasses for the runner in the family. They carried a few of the Prescription Oakley of interest so it was good to go in and physically try them on (unlike online). To be clear, they were not cheap, but we reviewed all the options (tint color, reflection, etc...) and I have to admit, they look pretty sweet!! read more

Scheduling with this practice was so easy. The front desk is truly lovely. They don't take my insurance but clearly communicated cost and even had the paperwork from my insurance company ready to go so I could self file. I saw Dr. Watkins. I felt like he was very thorough and caught something my last eye doc missed. The downside is that while he was right in identifying a potentially significant issue, he was wrong about what it was and may have freaked me out more than necessary. Still, I want to say the level of concern was great and everyone at the office worked to get me immediate care for a potentially vision threatening condition. I'm lucky it wasn't what he thought--but I would have had the absolute best care of if it had been. Also, I think Dr. Watkins came up with a really innovative solution to correct my vision and I'm grateful for his creativity in giving me the best reading and distance vision possible. read more

I have know Dr Rios for many years and he is a wonderful person and a great doctor however when I called for my last appt I was told I had to prepay my copay due to I had previously had to cancel two appts due to reasons beyond my control so k order to hold my appt I had to pay. I don't know if this is a private policy or corporate but I said I would find another place. read more

I needed a new eye doctor and selected this one due to its high reviews on Yelp. And Yelpers didn't let me down! Great experience. I was able to make an appointment pretty quickly, and the nice woman on the phone told me where I could fill out all my paperwork online. Yes! I love not filling out papers on a clipboard balanced on my lap. The technician who did my tests was professional and really nice. I asked him a few questions and he never seemed annoyed. Today was the first time in thirty years that I've considered leaving Tempe Eyecare. Recently found out that EyeMed is provided with my Delta Dental insurance, so I attempted to schedule an appt. Received a call back stating that my insurance is suspended. One phone call from this office to Delta would have saved me embarrassment of finding out that this was erroneous - my insurance is NOT suspended at all! Although the listing of insurances shows that EyeMed is accepted, it seems that only the premier is, whereas the one provided by the state is an HMO plan. I've always just paid for admittedly excellent service, so I had no idea. As it is now, I am mortified and upset, and do not wish to subject myself to this anymore. read more

Doctor is great but the people who do the frame selection and fitting really get a fail. I didn't get a consultation other than pick a frame. The frame came in with super long arms and rge bridge was too wide for my face so it's either falling iff or if the arms get tightened, the lens is right up on my eyes and my lashes hit. I hate the way the frame feels and leses are way too heavy. I will be returning them and going elsewhere. I am very disappointed. read more

First appointment here and they were 10+ minutes late getting to see me. Chalked it up to it being the first time there and thought no more of it. Fast forward about a month to my second time here and they are 10 minutes late again. When I explained to the assistant calling me back that I unfortunately had to leave given the delay put my work meetings at risk, the receptionist at the desk shot me a very dirty look and rolled their eyes. Bummed my new insurance no longer covers visits here. I had a great experience here and would have totally returned. All of the front desk staff were professional and courteous. I really liked the optometrist I saw but I can't remember her name. And from the website, since there are only two males listed, it looks like she may be gone now. When I called to verify my new benefits, since they do not take my current insurance, she even gave me the name of another local place she thought might. Incredibly clean, welcoming office. Attentive staff - young professional and articulate atmosphere. I was a bit nervous starting with a new eye doctor since my insurance changed; but that was immediately put to rest during the visit. Since my insurance is United - the specialist I spoke with knew precisely to run it thru a different company (other doctor offices weren't aware and it just led to head ache). Dr. Watkins was thorough and proactive with my eye health, and his assistant Anastasia (Greek spelling, apologies) was a joy. (even without her coffee :)). Dr. C has seen my family for over 20 years. I wouldn't trust our eye care to anyone else. His team is very professional and efficient. His selection of frames and quality lense options are always updated and fairly reasonable. I tried cut rate frames and lenses from a warehouse and ended up re-doing them at Tempe Eyecare. The staff was friendly. I'm upset because I feel I was way overcharged. When setting appointment I was not told that there was 2 separate copays for eyeglass exam and contact exam. At the start of the appointment, I told the receptionist that my insurance (vsp) does not send me any insurance cards or details on coverage, the woman laughed and said that was normal for that insurer. The next staff member called me back and asked what I wanted. I, specifically, told her MAYBE both contacts and eyeglasses DEPENDING ON COST. She never said anything about cost to me. The next staff member was the doctor. And we had, basically, the SAME conversation. Did I want contacts and eyeglasses? I told him I might want both DEPENDING ON COST as I'm trying to keep things cheap today. He said, I'll let her talk to you about that. We proceeded with the exam, then given contacts to try on. The woman who walked me back, returned and asked how the contacts felt and how my vision was. Nothing said about cost. I was walked over to another staff member in the frames area. She was very helpful, talked to me about the glasses I liked. Went above and beyond and offered to bring in a specific frame color for me that they didn't have on hand. It's this staff member who told me that my insurance covers only contact OR eye glasses. AND she told me that instead of just a $20 cost for the eye exam copay, there was an ADDITIONAL $60 copay for the contact eye exam. This put me out a total of $80... much more than the expected cost. I'm upset because there were multiple opportunities along the way, that any of the staff members could have said something about cost... not wait until after the service was already performed. Or they could have mentioned that my insurance doesnt cover both vision options at one time. Felt very much like a bait and switch way to increase revenue. read more

My appointment from the moment I walked back to paying was 13 minutes!! Are you kidding?! That was the fastest eye appointment I've ever had which included 2 eye tests. Major plus: they don't do the test where they blow a puff of air into your eye anymore! They've swapped it for a handheld device! I also walked out with my new 6 month supply of contacts which they luckily had in stock. They even gave me a pack for free since I had let them know I ran short. Best eye doctors! read more

He was caring and professional and even gave me a coupon and a sample of the prescribed drops as he knew that they would be expensive. I'm getting older and my glasses needs are getting more complex. Dr. Chrisagis took the time to get my prescription right and to fully explain all my options, while helping me avoid unnecessary cost. As for the glasses retail, it's a bit pricey and out of my network, but I've been to a discount eyewear provider and was left with glasses that fatigued my eyes - a total waste of money. Excellent eye doctors. I had my eye exam and they ordered me contacs, one week later. I was surprised by how short a time to get the sample contacs . I have needed vision correction since I was 6. My prescription is so strong and they didn't have them . Next week, I saw another eye doctor, both great! They had ordered me 2 different strengths of contacs,, so I can decide which one is better for me. They match 1-800 contacs. I had very little time in the lobby. They also ordered me a sample, which will last me for a month. And, they said once ordered it will only take a week, before they are in. Would definitely go to them again, even though I live over 30 minutes from Tempe Eyecare. And, would definitely recommend them! read more

I had previously gone to Lenscrafters...no problem but they no longer carry Maui Jim's. A friend of mine had been coming here and she recommended Tempe Eyecare Associates when no one could repair my Maui Jim's. So my first visit was just a repair. They did it for free and were very nice about it. When it came time for new glasses I came here. Medicare covered the cost of the exam, which was excellent. And, they were able to use my old frames for the new prescriptions. I would highly recommend these folks! read more

I've been coming here for just over a year. The staff are courteous and the doctors are very professional and everyone seems to enjoy working there. I always learn something at every appointment. (This last appointment I learned that I have been cleaning my lenses wrong for the past 15 years. So I switched to dailies.) They have a great selection of frames and the staff are great at figuring out your insurance and making sure you're using the full benefits so you don't pay more than you need to. I went in to pick up my contacts and asked if they sold lens cleaner for glasses because I was running out and Target only had the little bottles. They just gave me a bottle and said I could stop in anytime to get it refilled. read more

The front office was very friendly and knowledgable about insurance. I got into my appointment before I even got my forms filled out. The Dr. came in right away after the tech was finished with her work. He was personable, knowledgable and did not try and sell my on anything. And he did not seem like he was rushing to get to his next appt. They had a nice selection of glasses and many sunglass options. Could not be happier with Tempe Eyecare Associates! Their customer service truly cannot be beat. I was looking for a new pair of glasses and found a set of Oakley frames that I really liked. Also they have a very large showroom with many different brands and I was able to wander around to look and try things on. Once I settled on a pair I was toying with the idea transition lens but was having trouble making up my mind. They told me I could try the transitions and if I didn't like them they would swap them out for clear lenses at no cost. Because Oakley makes their own lenses I was told they had to be sent out and could take up to two weeks to come in. This is an Oakley requirement, not Tempe Eyecare Associates, and I expected this as I have bought Oakley glasses from other places. The issue I ran into was that I broke my current glasses the day after I placed my order. I called to see what could be done and offered to pay expedited shipping or whatever was needed. They did not charge me, they simply made a phone call and the two weeks turned into two days. Also, after wearing them for about a week I decided the transitions were not for me. They were able to send them out and get them back quickly as they were my only pair. No questions, no haggle. Additionally, they accept my vision insurance (VSP) and I had very little out of pocket cost, even for premium eyewear. I have recommended them to several friends and co-workers. read more

Was a long time lens crafter guy. Well no more. My wife suggested I go here. I did, got a great exam and met the nicest person to help me choose new frames and lenses. I feel like I've gotten glasses that actually fit me for the first time in years. That's right years. They sure right, no rubbing, no pinching ....just comfort. The exams are pretty high tech. I received excellent service and care from this location. The check in process was fast and the waiting area is clean and tidy with updated magazines. They also had a children play/sitting area to keep the little ones occupied. Plenty of seating in the main reception area. The doctor was professional and answered all my questions. I work aside doctors on daily basics, I could tell these eye doctors care for their clients care and love what they do. Not to mention, the frame selection is huge and have the appropriate associates to assist you based on your preferences and facial dimensions. I would not recommend going to this location for glasses. There is a TL:DR at the bottom. I decided to get a new pair of glasses as mine are currently 3 years old and pretty scratched, so as a birthday present, I went to Tempe Eyecare Associates (TEA) for a new pair. This first occurred the week of August 28th, 2017. I end up getting my glasses the promised 2-3 weeks later, pick them up and take them home not thinking anything of it. About 5-6 days later, I find myself unable to physically wear them. There was a "blurry" field in my peripheral vision, only on the left lens causing me to feel not only slightly sick, but also making me uncomfortable to safely drive as I use my peripheral vision a lot when making turns. I take them back to TEA, and they send them out to get the lenses replaced. 2 weeks later, now nearing the end of September, I get my new glasses back again. I pick them up, and notice the blurry edges are still there. One of the associates, Candy (sp?, she was great through the whole process) adjusted the angle of the lenses, I noticed then the blurry edge was gone! I left happy. Literally 15 minutes later when driving home, I realized I was just looking at the lens the wrong way, and that the blurriness has shifted from the left side to the right. Being that it was a Thursday/Friday, I decided to give it another go and see if I noticed anything. Well, I went back the following Monday, cause of the same thing, getting headaches, uncomfortable driving. This time they sent the glasses out and had direct communication with the lab manager to oversee the process was done correctly, great, I'll wait. 2 weeks later , it now being late October, the glasses come in again, with the same issue. I'm starting to get really sad at this point because I just really want a new pair of glasses. We decide to try to get a different frame to see if the size of the lens is having an effect on what i'm seeing. Put in the new frame, and wait another 2 weeks. about 2 weeks and a few days later, my glasses come in. They have the same problem. It is now November 16th and I still do not have a new pair of glasses. I ask for a refund, and leave to go elsewhere. I felt terrible because I really NEEDED a new pair of glasses. I recently lost my clip on sunglasses for my current glasses, and have had to make due with a bulky pair of over-glasses sunglasses. I was really counting on this time the issue being fixed. My timeline of events might be slightly unaccurate due to not remembering every detail, but I am 100% positive of this happening over the course of nearly 3 months. I have unfortunately had to have glasses my entire life and have never had an experience close to this. I'm not sure if the slight altercation in my prescription (ironically only my left eye changed, which was the sole location of the issue) caused this, or the ineptitude of the lab that TEA uses. I thank Candy (sp?) and the front staff for their help and for issuing a refund, but the entire process and end result has left not only a lot to be desired, but also has made me take my business elsewhere. TL:DR Overall, if you have a complex (i.e bad) prescription, I would strongly recommend to not go here. 3 months of my time and I left with no new pair of glasses. read more

Dr. Chrisagis is my favorite doctor I see each year. I never dread coming here because I know my best interest is his! He's ordered me a few brands of contact lenses in my vision to try and see which one fits me best before I buy my supply - at no extra cost to the contact lense exam! The whole front desk staff is always so friendly and pleasant when you walk in. I've been coming for years and they remember me each time. My husband has been going here for years but I've only been a patient for 2 years. My appointments have always been very well organized, moving from one machine to the next, into the room and with the doctor. Everyone in the office has been friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful.
